  1. Don't know now. I would have closed it with Mercury. "Lincoln" could have been an uber trim level, because ultimately, that's all it is now except your losing money with unique sheet metal and separate management costs. Edit: And I certainly wouldn't be wasting money renaming a refreshed vehicle, especially with the name of a submarine.
  2. Not going to lie. Had to look curmudgeon up. Wouldn't say I'm angry. Maybe I'm coming across like that. I'm frustrated. I'm sick and tired of Ford making decisions that make my profit sharing smaller and steal resources from programs that could succeed. Lincoln will never be a serious luxury carmaker. Ever. Doesn't matter how much they invest, doesn't matter what the name of it is.
  3. It was either that or a picture of Aquaman. Speaking of, to the guys here that have insiders, you should pitch replacing Matthew McConaughey with Jason Momoa. Could probably get some licensing deal with DC so he could wear the costume in the commercials and product placement in some movies. Could be a win-win.
  4. Then why is there a separate forum for Lincoln Motor Company?
  5. I'm bitching because the name sucks. I begged for this thread to be moved to the proper forum. I don't go there for a reason. Don't like my opinion, fine. You can block me, ignore me, move the thread or ban me. Take your pick.
  6. You're right. My mistake. No other vehicle in America compares. It just needs a name that doesn't conjure images of sea creatures and submarines.
  7. I propose the Navigator name be changed to Titanic. The MkC could be named The Minnow. The Continental should be changed to Queen Mary and the upcoming 3-row crossover should be named the Costa Concordia. Edit: I forgot the Mkz. I would propose Corvette because that is a fast ship, but GM might not like it. How about Seawolf?
  8. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/2019-lincoln-nautilus-suv-replaces-the-mkx-news Read the comments. Everybody is glad the Mk-whatever is being ditched, but most readers don't like the name.
  9. The orange tint is what I like about it. But, my favorite Ford color has always been Competition Orange so I may be a little biased.
  10. In about 10 years when this strategy doesn't work, like all the other times, maybe they'll try something different and try to be best-in-class.
  11. The typical buyer of a Lincoln is older than whom they are targeting. By the last post, my wife and I are smack in the middle of the age range Ford wants to sell to. I have the income and the resources to buy, but they make nothing that screams luxury, only rebadged Fords with different sheet metal and features blown out of proportion to the point of lying to the customer. I can't imagine anybody that doesn't receive A-plan on them thinking they are a good value. Ford should have kept Land Rover and Jaguar. Lincoln will never mean luxury to most of my generation. And the Nautilus name is stupid. Everybody at work wad laughing about it when we saw the email. It's not just me.
  12. Yes. Build is scheduled for the week of 12/18.
  13. Aviators fly. Boats float, some of them even sink. Cars drive on land. Makes perfect sense.
  14. Ok. Travel, I get that. There is no Aviator. Nautilus doesn't work. It's a boat. Can a mod please move this to the Lincoln discussion where it belongs? Then I won't have the compulsion to argue the stupidity of this name. Thank you.
  15. Scheduled to the week of December 18th. Window sticker should appear around a week before it's supposed to be built.
  16. Please, in all seriousness, explain to me this theme. I'm lost with it. I'm approaching Lincoln's target market age and there is nothing in their showroom that appeals to me or the wife.
  17. It's either a sea creature or a boat that is designed to sink. Either way, not a name for a gussied up Ford Edge.
  18. So, it's nuclear powered. Are we talking Mr. Fusion or a variant of a Star Trek warp core? As you can tell, I think the name is pretty silly.
  19. Googled the word "nautilus". This is the very first result. Can somebody explain to me why Ford named this vehicle after a sea creature?
  20. Ford could rename the Navigator EL the Titanic. Historic. Unique. What could go wrong?
