  1. I'm buying new if my 1995 F-150 ever dies. I always buy new and drive "until the wheels fall off". No regrets yet.
  2. I saw a local union official ( Bill Johnson - Wayne Ass'y Plant Chairman) and a IUAW official ( Bob King - Director of the National Ford Department) within 15 feet of the ballot box for local 900's vote. Let's hope that the strategy of "settling" with Ford first will help get the Industry back to better times ..... salaried and hourly alike: we are all in this cluster fuck together.
  3. I'd be surprised if it didn't pass. All I had to show was my Ford I.D. There was no check sheet, so ANY Ford worker could have voted. I even saw people voting with just their driver's license. Anyway, I sure hope it all works out. Thanks for the quick update simonsez.
  4. Thank you for your post. I'm on Dayshift and heard - read nothing about the vote until I checked BON.
  5. Umm didn't I just say local agreement? Where do you come up with language from 1961? The actual language is on pages 90 and 91 of the our local agreement.
  6. Channel 7 News in Detroit ran a story a couple of days ago regarding the addition of the 3rd shift at DTP. They newscaster said that the plant will be running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week churning out the new F-150. They never even hinted at the down weeks that we all already knew about.
  7. It's a local agreement between the plants of local 900. If you are on indefinate layoff from one of the plants, you can bump a person in another plant. If you have more than 6, you bump someone with less than 6. If you have more than 10, you bump someone with less than 10. If you have more than 15, you bump someone with less than 15. So basically, if you have 15 years in, you can't be bumped. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
  8. Thanks. The union meeting is the 2nd Sunday of the month at 1pm. That would be this Sunday.
  9. Thank you for the heads up. Did you get the calls today (Wednesday).
  10. The second Sunday of the month, 1pm, at the local.
  11. vmpp, i fully respect your post. However, a lot of MTP'ers have been on Indefinite lay off since December. Since we only get 48 weeks of sub pay this contract, it is understandable why some are anxious to get placed.
  12. At the last union meeting somebody asked Poet about trades using the 6-10-15 rule. Bill Johnson from Wayne stepped up in front of Poet and said there will be no 6-10-15. He can do what he wants because our International servicing rep., Mike Oblack, is his buddy and Mike came from the Wayne complex.
  13. As would Henry Ford (God bless his soul). He made this company Great, by Ford owning almost everything. Short-term accountants not withstanding.
  14. What's the plant chairman's phone number? The number in our bulletin (641-5622) isn't working.
  15. Tuesday we had that little snow storm. Maybe that's the excuse Ford'll give us.
  16. The ETAP benefit was in the paltry bulletin that we were given before the contract vote. I'm kind of confused as to why we can vote on a National Agreement containing this language, and this can be removed before the next contract. Sorry, but just spouting yet again.
  17. Are all the trades working during the down time that is coming up? Also, do the trades from Michigan Truck still plan on coming over and bumping or are they getting absorbed?
  18. I thought Ron gave a very good press conference at 10 this morning. He really surprised me. That bit about opening up the books of toyota to ensure wage parity was absolutely brilliant. Nice job all around, Ron. Thanks for saying our minds.
  19. The man makes 21 million a year, right? So that's a bit over 57 thousand a day. And Ford is going to pay him to drive 9 hours there and 9 hours back, which would be around $43,150 in travel time alone, not to mention the cost of gas <g>. Fly his ass first class and give what's left over to charity.
  20. Supposedly production are to get called back for a 1 day "orientation", thus maintaining Holiday pay eligabilty. I've not seen it in writing, only heard it on the floor before we said our goodbyes.
