  1. More proof that a lot of people have more money than sense. The Chrysler Cimarron (ahem) ASPEN will definitely revive the flagging DCX lineup I am sure!
  2. I thought Richard Jensen WAS the moderator? OK, back to topic... Whatever happened to the Ford commercials showing a large, blue oval being polished while the chorus chants "Ford promises, Ford delivers, quality is Job one!" I'm guessing circa early eighties. The commercial I remember was for an '82 Escort. Hmmmm... come to think of it, quality wasn't even Job 101 with those POS cars...
  3. Otis, you are just bitter because you always appear to end up on the wrong end of "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" signs. It must be a hard, lonely life for you! Good thing you are useful for SOMETHING, which is in fact a cheap laugh for the rest of us. :bandance:
  4. This lawsuit is moronic. My TAX DOLLARS are being wasted for this travesty. Note to the rest of the country: THIS is what happens when you let DEMOCRATS run the show. They don't have enough money in Sacramento to finance their ever-expanding spiral of giveaway schemes so they come up with garbage like this. The Democrats control the state Legislature here and it's nothing short of breathtaking to see what they want to do with my tax money. As far as I am concerned San Francisco needs another eight point sixer to drop all of those hippy liberal wastoids into the ocean where they belong.
  5. Turning your baseball cap backwards is GUARANTEED to give you AT LEAST 10hp!! Stop putting down such an obvious mod.
  6. Hmmm... blame the Republicans for everything - that's the common leftist excuse for problems that THEY helped create. It's useless rhetoric and no one buys into that liberal talking point. I challenge you to name the lying/stealing that the Republicans have done. I'll bet you can't name ANYTHING, much less back it up. Stop parroting the Democrat talking points, that doesn't work here. Let me recollect here... who was in charge the LAST time the auto industry was on its knees and begging for tariffs and loans from the government for a bailout? Yeah, that would be a DEMOCRATIC Congress and a DEMOCRATIC President - Mr. "Peanut" Carter himself. Historical lessons aside... The REAL problems (with auto manufacturers) lie in the fact that the unions have saddled the auto makers with staggering pension obligations and budget busting payrolls due to the freebies, goodies, and lavish excesses that they have weaseled and begged over the years. The general public doesn't sympathize with the unions / union workers anymore. UNION WORKER has become synonymous with LAZY and OVERPAID. (other adjectives that come to mind are CORRUPT, and RACKETEERING, PARASITE, etc.) The only class regarded with more distaste is GOVERNMENT WORKER, who, coincidentally, is ALSO a union worker as well! AT the same time, they have fostered a work environment that protects the lazy, and the useless, while shafting the honest workers and ripping off their take-home with ridiculous dues that go straight to Democrat campaign coffers. The few honest workers are forced to parrot the union program or face a "pillow party" of thugs waiting for them in the parking lot. It's a culture of corruption and intimidation. That being the case, the unions will NOT ALLOW an inexpensive car to be built here, since they will demand all sorts of concessions, freebies, perks, and non-production jobs so that their grifter friends can draw a paycheck and not work. Also, in case you haven't noticed... the unions are in BANKRUPTCY these days. Your "Blame Bush" rhetoric has been officially deflated. Nice try, you freaking pinko leftist surrender monkey.
  7. Can't make affordable cars until the UAW makes REAL concessions. Greedy, freebie-grubbing union parasite makes building cars so expensive that it's not possible to build any sort of cost effective competition to the Koreans (and soon to be Chinese!)
  8. FordLemon is still a nut and should have given up a long time ago. I am sure no one is brimming with sympathy for a ten year old moldy Taurus that has long since been turned into dog food cans by now. Most reasonable visitors will laugh at the pics, and hear the same message that Charlie Brown's teachers used to say... :blah:
  9. NEVER EVER LEASE. What an incredible ripoff. Unless your company owns the vehicle and / or you get a tax credit you'll be unpleasantly surprised by all of the "end of lease" B.S. bills that you will get stuck with. those lease companies.
  10. Sixcav (not to hijack this thread), I got an auto with my 1998 'Stang, and to be honest I was sorely disappointed in it. My '89 was a manual and while it had a truck-like clutch (and in Los Angeles traffic it was a killer let me tell you!) I had more fun in it than my '98. Now to be fair, it's an older 4 speed auto with older computer logic, so I am sure there is no comparison between my '98 and your '06, but I can't see buying a 'Stang with a slush box. Just my personal opinion! When I got my '02 I got a 5 speed again, and on the way home from the dealer I was ecstatic, "...now THAT is what my 'Stang is supposed to be like!" Therefore, when it came time to order my '05, there was but one option... the manual tranny. Now back to the regularly scheduled thread... 89-pony: whether you choose to go with a new 'Stang, a manual or auto, or keep your old one is YOUR choice. Do not make a hasty decision. Be sure you can afford it. If you do get one, you won't regret it! This is (and I am sure Sixcav will agree) by far the BEST 'Stang I have EVER owned (and I have owned a few of them!)
  11. WOW... $12 billion... I wonder how they derived that figure? Seems like an almost comical amount, kind of like a tobacco lawsuit settlement. If true, GM really tried to screw Evans. Why am I not surprised?
  12. Well, I guess it is better looking than that pile of dog crap Ridgeline... All of that chrome looks garish though. That "chin" needs to go. I can imagine that in a couple of years the fake chrome will peel off the plastic making it look ratty. It's not bad looking, just very... GM.
  13. I'll chime in some more $0.02... My '89 GT used (burned) oil from the get-go, and so did my ex g/f's '88 GT, and another friend's '87 GT. I was going through about a quart every 3k miles, and more if I put my foot in it. Ford told all of us that the oil usage was "normal" (WTF??) and judging by the contemporary experience of the people I talked to back then it indeed appeared to be the norm for the 5.0L engine. We all used to laugh and joke about our quart bottles of oil in our cars. Therefore, I wouldn't be overly concerned about the oil usage other than the fact it's a PITA to check the oil every time you fill up. Make your decision based upon what you can afford. :yup:
  14. If it seems too good to be true, it usually is. No offense intended to you sunroofcuda, but most vendors who want to "try out" a system on a 'Stang will have the owner bring the car in and have the install done. The install/results/performance are documented and then disseminated via the vendor's website. Any $$$ that changes hands, if any, is done at that point and negotiated privately. Merely saying "buy this and you will have your $$ refunded if you post" doesn't come across as being legit even if you are 100% serious. Just my $0.02...
  15. OK, that price is a ripoff for a 'Stang with some stripes and a CAI. I don't care if it is signed by CS or not. Geeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzz.... for that kind of money I think I would rent one of those Vipers they have on the lots off the Strip. Hertz can :kissass: for that kind of money.
  16. As you can tell from my sig, I have owned an '89 GT in the past - I had that car for nine years and I loved it. I now own a 2005 GT and it is by far the best 'Stang I have ever owned. There are lots of factors to consider, though.. where to begin. 1) You won't get beans for your '89 LX. Using it as a down payment will net you $500 trade-in value, and maybe $1000-$1500 if you sell it outright. That's not a lot to put down on an '07, and you can expect a stratospheric monthly payment. 2) My '89 was reliable until approximately 150k miles. It then pretty much fell apart. The interior degraded over the years, and I had to replace the timing chain, water pump, alternator, a/c condenser, clutch (also had the tranny rebuilt). After the differential disintegrated (gears, axle bearings, etc) I decided that I had had enough and I wanted a new one. I don't know how your '89 is but the ones I see still running around in So Cal look to be in pretty sad shape. I'm guessing that the Fox body wasn't known for its stellar longevity. Sooo... in a nutshell: If $$$ isn't a consideration, get the '07 by all means. You won't be sorry. The new design is STELLAR in performance, looks, and fun factor as opposed to the '89. The 4.6 engine is FAR superior in design, power, and reliability than the old 5.0 IMHO. It doesn't burn oil either (a common problem with '87-'93 5.0 engines). If $$$ is a consideration, I'd say keep the '89 until it disintegrates and then see where you are at. Just my $0.02! I hope it helps.
  17. In another thread I defended Ford's attempts to protect their intellectual property, but what Ford4v429 pointed out in this thread is pretty much indefensible. I voted for the nominal fee and licensing of the name, solely to protect Ford's right to the name but yet allow companies like Mustang Plus and California Mustang to exist and sell licensed Ford products and parts. Go after the "pirate" outfits and leave the "legitimate" business owners alone. For Ford to condone the actions of the law firm above is to sanction legalized extortion - nothing more, nothing less. That $10,000 arbitrary "damages" figure is ridiculous and makes me angry to see it. I'll bet that the bottom-feeders in that law firm get a percentage of the take, thereby propagating this travesty.
  18. Time to hook up a trickle charger if you are storing the car. A better solution would be to drive it every day... :bandance:
  19. Why should Ford allow some two-bit operator to make money off THEIR branded product? If your friend the small company wants to make money have him come up with his own concept and ideas and market them. If he wants to dovetail off a successful Ford product then he needs to become a licensed dealer and pay the fee like everyone else. Don't get mad at Ford because they won't let you steal Ford's intellectual property for YOUR gain. Make your own. Invent the next Pet Rock or something and rake in the $millions. No sympathy here.
  20. I'm the customer and it's MY $30,000+ that I paid for the car... so yes, I say that it DOES mean that I am concerned about MY order and when *I* placed it. I don't care about the "behind the scenes" stuff - I only care about getting what I paid for: a quality product delivered in a timely manner with good customer service. Who cares how many hours a day it takes? The point is CUSTOMER SERVICE. If Ford management and his union brethren understood this, they would allocate Kzinti's time so that he performs his duties with dispensations for improving customer service. I believe that is the entire point of this thread. Yep... I think the pot is calling the kettle black when it comes to the "Me" attitude. So what you are saying is that you do not care if your employer goes under. While I don't believe in wide-eyed, fanatical loyalty to ANY company, I would think that looking at the "big picture" would allow you (and other) employees to appreciate any scheme (in this case, improving abysmal customer service) that would keep your employer solvent and willing and able to sign more paychecks. NOW... don't get me wrong, I am NOT trying to start a flame war. I did come across harshly in some of the things I said in my earlier post and I apologize for those extreme words. However, I feel that BOTH Ford management AND the union complainers are to blame for this current situation, which is muzzling someone that was performing a valuable customer relations service. Acknowledging that there is a problem is the first step in the road to fixing the problem - not shooting the messenger, which is what you folks did.
  21. SWF: I think that protecting your jobs and our "beloved Mustangs" go hand in hand. If we (the buying public) are excited about the product and have great customer service from you (meaning Ford) to back it up, it's a win-win scenario for all of us. Belittling us (the customer) because of our devotion to our "beloved Mustangs" cuts your own throat doesn't it? IMHO, you should be ENCOURAGING us. A happy customer comes back for more, and you will build us more cars, thereby propagating job security for you. How is this hard to understand?
  22. "Sparks Will Fly" I hope that you and your union attitude will be on the unemployment line some day, pissing and moaning about how Ford "didn't do enough" to save your freaking JOB and you got laid off due to Ford losing more market share. Well, look in the G**D**** mirror you union-thug a**hole! Your short sighted and narrow-minded union-thug whining is what is destroying FoMoCo and companies like it. You only care about your idiot contract and how many freebies you can wheedle off management while doing less and less work for the exorbitant salary you are paid. You won't be happy until you work THREE hours a week with ten coffee breaks in the middle, twelve weeks paid vacation, and "free" health care for you, seven generations of your family, and your pets! And then you will STILL find some reason to complain, I guarantee it. When someone like Kzinti DARES to buck the trend and actually DO SOMETHING about customer service rather than read some crappy platitude on the line you immediately call him out and complain until he is silenced. The service that KZINTI provided made SALES for your company (and contributed to your paycheck and undeserved benefits) you moron! In my own experience I owned a 2002 Mustang with 29k miles on it. Did I *need* a new 2005? HELL NO. I *wanted* one, and the only reason I put up with my dealer's ignorance and the bull s***t I got from Ford in order to GET one was because of Kzinti. That's a $34k sale! Add up the thousands upon thousands like me, and you get the idea that Kzinti was actually DOING YOU ALL A FAVOR and contributing to the company bottom line with his service. You bunch of stupid, stupid ingrates. Of course, I wouldn't expect anything less from a s**t eating lazy union a**hole like yourself. Union membership is now at 12% of the work force - and I will cheer the day that you all are holding up "will (cough cough cough)work for food" signs on your way to get your welfare check.
  23. Well FordLemon, I visited your site. That main "window" is confusing, all of your content appears in it, and it is too small to read your stories. Speaking of content, where is it? I see the history of Ford that you swiped from some text book, and some vague allegations of anti-Semitism and links to Nazi Germany, but nowhere do I find proof to back up your assertions of how EEEEEEEEVIL the company is. Also, where is "The Truth about Ford Finance" and "The Truth about..." Clicking on that link along the top of your page calls up the same history of Ford. You tempted me with that website about the Ford Focus, until I found out it was in French. Get with it dude. No one speaks French anymore. Thank your hero Napoleon for that one. Your guestbook is amusing. Why are you hiding behind the "nom de guerre" of "The FordLemon Crew" when we all know that there is no "crew" but rather Gerald crouched in his mother's basement taking turns between flogging his dog over the cyber porn and commenting on phony additions to his website. At least that hideous Flash intro you used to have is gone. What a lame-o POS that was. I assume your Taurus is gone too, since it is over eight years old... Time to get out a bit and catch some of that recreational time before the short bus comes to pick you up for your weekly electroshock therapy.
