I'll swap my old coin collection for Chrysler.

Ls Fan00 asked, "LR and Jag share what parts?"\
------------------------------
Engines would be the main thing they share.

there MUST be more than one B-car.
At least 3 B-cars for the whole venture to be profitable.
Look we are building a NEW PLANT to build these cars.
We Can never sell 200,000 Fiestas on this continent.
We have to be diverse and not be limited to one or 2 segments.
that said.
The fiesta should be called fiesta. and the SUV should be called escort.
reflex coupe
mercury CUV B-max.
I totally agree! Except I'd have a little car like the Mazda called Escort (or Fiesta because it's likely to be called that around the world), the sporty Reflex like coupe called Probe and My SUV would be called Bronco.
-
Mustangs usually sold at 120k per year. The 05 caused a mania. I've always said that once the mania faded a little the car would go back to its usual 120k per year.
-
There are no SUV models on the list. The three closest things are CUV's (RAV4, Escape and CR-V).

My 2 cents on halo cars. Halo stand alone models (Ford GT, Acura NSX) don't help you too much. No one who walks into a Ford dealer to buy a GT will buy a Taurus because the GT is about $160,000 too much. But Halo cars which are special editions of existing models (Shelby and SHO) sell the lower models. Someone who likes the Shelby Mustang Cobra, but cant afford it (Oh I'd say this is only about 95% of the population) may buy the traditional Mustang.
So I'd think about putting a few SVT models in the pipeline. Mercury could really benefit from this type of treatment if Ford can't go the Saturn route.

I was just thinking the same thing
Ads are not super impressive. What about something showing the towing capabilities? Like that old ad for the (new at the time) 3V V8 Expedition.
Then again, those ads are aimed at people who will use them like cars. Most people won't use the towing every day, but they'll have to deal with the seats quite a bit.

These too, seen elsewhere on BlueOvalNews.Com
That roofline would look great on a Sable!
-
Bugger! It is quite rammy! I'd scarper to a Land Rover. The Jeep is just Fanny Adams and one shouldn't fart about with it. Cheerio!
-
They're getting rid of the Monte Carlo, and getting the new Camaro... Hey, I can live with that!
-
My guess is the RWD Hyundai Equus.

My 87 Ford EXP averaged 44 mpg on a trip to Florida. But you also have to remember new cars are better equiped now with safety options, power everything, air conditioning, large wheels and more HP. My EXP had crank up windows, no AC weighed 2,200 pounds and I'm sure it would not have passed any safety tests placed on cars today. (although the girl who bought it after had crashed it five times and never got hurt. The 5th time destroyed the car.)
People expect a lot more from economy cars today than in the past. When you think about it, the Focus is pretty amazing to have most of the good options and safety, a pzev engine and get 37 MPG highway.
-edited to add the hwy to 37 mpg. It gets high 20's city.

I am so F***ing sick of hearing about "refinement" from Car and Driver! Because stats and facts can't back up their conclusions they need stupid subjective terms to come up with their results. So they add "refinement" and "gotta have it" categories. They can pound the "refinement" up their ass!

When I bought a new car in 05, it was a coin toss between the Mustang and the 500. The Mustang won out because I was in early mid life crisis mode, but the 500 really impressed me. (the all wheel drive was amazing!) Forget the talk of blandness, drive one for yourself and remember when it becomes a Taurus it will be even better! You will like this car no matter what it is called.

Although I think it is a postive thing that Chrysler may bring an entry out in this genre, I definitely don't like the side and rear styling of this concept. I agree with the poster above that I'd take the Solstice and Sky over the so-called Demon any day.
And yes... it would be nice if Ford would take a stab at this market. That is as long as they DON'T call it the 'EXP'!
-Ovaltine
Hey! let's be nice. I had an EXP (not the frog eyes one like the picture.) Most people thought it was a Mustang anyway. It wouldn't matter if it was called EXP because no one would remember it except Blue Oval fans. If you thought the 500 had problems with name recognition, When I brought my EXP to Ford dealers for oil changes, some of the employees would ask me what company made the car and were surprised when I told them it was a Ford.

I've liked the car ever since I saw it in "Casino Royale". It looks stunning. I think if it were sold here, the auto mags would complain about the interior. It doesn't look that expensive.
-
I would use "Country Squire" or maybe "Fairmont" before I'd use Freestyle.
-
that's because it was.
hope they dont kill the Rendevous, Tiger woods will have to find a new car to drive.
The Enclave will replace the Ranier, Rendez-Vous and Terraza van!
Tiger Woods will probably like the Enclave. I believe it will push more volume than those other three trucks combined.

With the confusion between Outback and Outlook, maybe Saturn will re-name it "Ion"?
Does anyone remember the 1999 era Taurus and Sable wagon concepts that had AWD and higher stance?
Yes I do. And Ford called the wagon a Santa Fe. Hundai used the name later.
-
I love the G8, but hate the name. Maybe they should have called it the Tempest. Anyway, that car will not fizzle like the dull looking GTO.
-
They're changing the name Five Hundred to Taurus... Oh wait that's real!
-
I think this is good news and a total shock! Back when everybody said the 500 looked like a VW I always said it looked more like a first gen Taurus. I wouldn't mind if they named the top of the line the Taurus 500 instead of limited.
As far as bring the Sable name back... I think Montego is a better name. I always hated "Sable". When I owned one, half the time I just called it a Taurus anyway.
-
The Edge looks like a Chrysler minivan with that grille. Those cars don't look good like that.
-
Look! This photochopper almost got it right!
http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index...?showtopic=9326
I have to say I like the real Montego better than the 500 and the Photochop. The guy who did the chop got the grille right.

Check out Ford's website. AM is gone! That was fast. I thought it would stay there because Ford still owns a small part of it.
