QUOTE(pcsario @ Aug 22 2007, 11:29 AM)
Wescoent, if I'm getting your message right, Audi, VW, FOE and others aren't at the top of their classes because their interiors are among the best, but because they've horizontal vents, black panels on the doors with chrome/aluminum handles?
Well, I can show you quite more interiors with those traits, and no one considered them "class leading" or admirable. You're grasping at straws now. The Germans, and FOE for that matter, are among the best because their interiors show EFFORT, and exhude that "business" look to them.
For starters, the pic you posted belongs to the 2001 Ford Mondeo, I should know since I bought one that year, and as you can see, the foundation was quite solid for the time.
--------------------------------------------------------
You get angry over people posting unfair pictures of the older German interiors, and yet you post the old pick up crash test picture. The 2004 HE 150 got 4 stars in its last crash test before changing over tho the current 150 (although that is not going to help people killed by truck built like the one in the picture, and Ford should be held to account for letting such a truck see production).
The Fusion interior to me at least, looks good. Not outstanding, but good. I don't think it deserves the venom you are throwing at it. The Honda interior is outstanding. I do see what you are saying though. It does look like the Fusion interior is the same grade as Honda's last interior. I hope Ford makes every effort to surpass this effort from Honda. I do believe Fusion's interior is better than Toyota's Camry and Avalon which by both sight and touch aren't very good. Fusion also beats efforts from many other cars in my opinion.

CR is only good for use at toilet paper, nothing more. They used to have 5 million subscribers in the 90s, now they're down to 4 million. Looks like people are dumping their garbage for more objective testing.

Actually, that article has something wrong in it. It was Suzuki that sued CR over the Samuri review.

The coupe looks great (except for the front). The sedan doesn't look like a Honda. It seems to take tha parts I don't like about the Sebring, the parts I don't like about BMW, and the front of the Sonata, which I don't like and mixed them into a car I don't like. What happened to sporty Accords?
I think the interior does look like a Subaru, but much nicer! The interior looks like a luxury car's.

My 2 cents on the "import fighter" term. EVERYTHING Ford makes should be an import fighter! They are the biggest threat! They must fight and compete with the imports, that's where the market share in going.
-
I don't think the article was a hatchet job. It sounds like he just said that the car was nice, but it wasn't for him.
-
When the time comes to trade it in, make sure the dealer gives you an extra dime.

Donning my flame retardant suit...
[sarcasm]
What, and you people actually buy this import biased crap! I mean, come on! C&D people! They ripe all the domestics a new one every time they come across one! They can't be the least bit credible when they talk about anything! Their bias is just unbelievable. They'd NEVER say anything nice about a domestic, especially a ford! We just have to throw this out as useless information that can't be believable in any way. I can't believe that we'd even bother posting anything from C&D on this site. Its an insult to our intelligence! An afront to our dignity!
[/sarcasm]
Really, I'm impressed with that number. Off hand, how does that compare to C&Ds test of the Avalon 3.5 and the Camry 3.5?
They're still going to use the "refinement" excuse to rate imports higher.

You can't tell anything from that picture. They pasted words over the one part that was somewhat uncovered.

Top of the line models? Sure. Do we really need EVERY Mustang on the road being sold to have more horsepower than a Mustang Cobra had in 1995? No.
CAFE regs will change and ruin the party for everybody soon enough.
This is just history repeating itself. Maybe another Mustang II isn't far behind.

Names that no one knows what they mean? Yes, since a lot of cars with actual names make SO much sense.
Please define any of the following names for me please:
Camry
Corolla
Altima
Maxima
Sentra
...Or any of the other plethora of made up words slapped on cars.
Camry is the Japanese word for crown. I think all the Toyota names mean something in Japanese or other languages. Camry replaced Corona which is also a Crown. Corolla are the petals of a flower.
Nissan's are all made up except for the discontinued Stanza although the Armarda, Pathfinder and Quest are all normal.

How the hell would you write a song like "Leroy Brown" today?
He got a custom M-K-S
He got an X-L-R too
He got a 32 gun and a pocket full of fun
He got a razor in his shoe.

The "jet noise" is really the tire noise from the car. The camera's audio picks up the loudest sound when there is not much noise. I've shot video of cars moving and I get this noise a lot.
-
That would be a good Focus based CUV or a B car too.

Ka and Kuga is how the people in New England said car and Cougar.

I was once a car salesman. There is more dealer markup in a used car than a new, so you can debate the price of used much more. 25k on a 36k car is quite a sacrifice unless Ford is dropping the price and profit on their end. Was the Vic a dealer demo? Does it have milage?
Something to consider- That is a 2006 and the 2008 models are coming soon. It has been sitting around for maybe 2 years! (one if it arrived there at the end of MY2006.) Before that it may have been sitting around before the dealer got the car from Ford. A car that just sits around is almost as bad as a car that has high milage, but at least you have a warranty.

Just because a white car is easier to see doesn't mean people are looking.

I'm sure the consumer groups know that automakers can design, engineer and tool a factory up to produce these cars in a few weeks. Oh wait it takes a little longer.
-
I still like it. It will be a unique looking cuv in it's segment.

Yes I do see the body panels are different. The best way I can explain what I'm thinking is that this look like what they did to change the 94 Mustang into the 99-2004 Mustang. They changed the body panels but it still has a simmilar look. Yes, I know they made quite a few changes to the Falcon and it is a nicer car for it, but to me it still looks a lot like the older one. That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to that and I respect yours NickF1011, but I don't agree.
Look at this, a polite Blue oval arguement for a change!

Except for the front? There's nothing carryover on the sheetmetal at all. Even the roof stamping is new, as they lengthened the greenhouse and rear door openings. Door handle design and side creases are also entirely different.
The Explorer was all new but looked too much like the old one too.
-
The video counts down from 3 min. It happens at 2min 45 sec.
-
It looks like the old one except for the front. Everybody complained when they made a new Explorer with the same greenhouse as the old one. It does look better and it would be a good fresh face here, but because it is unique to us here we like it. In AUS (where they are used to this shape), it may not help the cars sales much.

Anyone catch how the reviewer called the 500 the 300 by mistake?

Hey that's my car! And my guitar! That's in my Mustang picture post in the Mustang forum. I took that picture in April 05 after I got that car.
