Small enough to fit in an E-Series

That was close to my 95 Ranger. Can't remember the color name (something red). Wife called it Fuchsia.
Mine called it "no"

Man I loved that color from the early 1990s-would be kinda neat to see something like that today.
If I'm not mistaken, that and a teal shade were unique to that model.

IMO, this is the guy to fast track EV and AI. That's it.
He's not a builder.
He's not a fixer.
He's not even a maintenance leader.
He's a disruptor. Just like Jac.

architectures are not platforms.

The 6.7 is overkill in all 250 and half of 350 uses in my opinion. But that does stop people prom buying it. Limited the gas options may have a similar result.

Hackett spends a little too much time blaming Fields. Is this going to be his tactic when his own plans fail?

All those reports that say that the CD6 will not be for cars are difficult to believe. Ford will not make a platform only for 2 nameplates. And China/Europe needs sedans. I´m sure , in the near future ,we will hear something about a sedan or two on CD6 (Mondeo and variants at least).
VW derived sedans in Europe.

Every time Hackett does something like this, I ask where the Board is. Historically, the Board has had the final word on all major product decisions.

I am seriously considering the Ranger as my next vehicle in 12-18 months. Reviewers be damned. It does everything the competitors do but IMO just looks nicer and more appealing.

That's probably true but you are also getting twice the power with the 6.7L diesel.
Compared to what? There are no 6.7 ecoboost engines on the shelf.

It’s a cool little town in a box canyon in Colorado. I’ve skied there a number of years ago. Apparently it’s Kia’s attempt to cash in on images of the old rugged west. I like the name, but not on a Kia.
So it's a Canyon in Colorado and the name DIDN'T go on a pickup.

Almost as goofy as VW SUV names

Geez, nobody said that hasn’t happened in the past or that it will never happen again. The question is how much of a premium are they willing to pay? Big difference between a $3K premium and a $20K premium.
Agreed. IMO, GM screwed up with the Bolt and Volt by not amortizing the engineering across enough years and total volumes. Those price tags were not reflective of just increased manufacturing cost.

You guys are dancing around it but not a one of you can refute that many have have paid a premium for diesel cars over the past several decades. It has been done.

But there are more factors then just that-Diesel has lost any cost advantage over gas engine due to fuel cost, upfront cost and additional maintenance costs.
I was poking around with pricing-The Bolt starts at 40K and a Cruze starts at 23K..to get the same options, a Cruze would be 26K.
The federal tax credit helps close the gap in pricing, but your still paying $9K more for a Bolt, which is a smaller car then the Cruze. The other issue, is that according to Fuel Economy.gov, your only saving $550 a year or so going electric vs gas
https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs&id=39786&id=39143So that extra $9K up front can pay for roughly 7-8 years worth of gas for the Cruze...
Right. No argument here.
But it is still fact that over the previous several decades, millions of cars were sold with premium cost on an engine to get better fuel economy.
Whether it's still cheaper is irrelevant. People have shown they are prepared to pay a premium.
Not to mention people that paid premiums for ecoboost engines...
-
Fact remains, there have been millions of passenger vehicles sold with a higher upfront cost for better fuel efficiency long term. That won't be the barrier to sales.

Well DUH, but the stumbling block is still making folks pay up front for all the savings on fuel they'll make over the next three to four years.
Diesel engines say you're full of shit.

At least it doesn't have the @ headlights...

1 ton pickups as off road sport vehicles is like a fat guy doing parkour.

They used to fit the 460, V10 and 7.3 diesel in there.
