  1. Transit Connect: It's Adaptable Ford Transit Connect was conceived, developed and engineered to meet the needs of small business proprietors all over the world. Once it arrives in the United States from the plant in Kocaeli, Turkey, Transit Connect can be outfitted for specific needs across a diverse range of users. *the above is just a partial of the write-up on the Transit from autoblog.com dated 2/9/09 so is one of the U.S. plants taking this from Turkey?
  2. I think if you read the next to the last paragraph on the opening letter of modification you will see that it's already a done deal. Phrases such as "we were able"..."we negotiated" Voting is just a formality...somewhat like the Queen of England...she's there but she really doesn't have power
  3. Oh I know! My husband spent 10 yrs ILO back in the early 80's....I too used to work for Ford
  4. But how long was the original "committment" for the Escape? Not meaning to sound "domm-gloom" just not familiar with KC and it's operations...all I've gotten to do is eat at Strouds and The Wabash when I visited the hubby....on a lighter note may I just say YUM! I love what I've seen so far & I find the people very friendly
  5. I totally agree with you even if it does sound a little ass-nine so to speak...most companies invest for long-term I by no means meant to ignore what these other plants have suffered or any that will come down the line in the system.
  6. I would think that KC also has "logistics" on it's side
  7. I sure hope what I'm hearing is NOT true.......worker at Indy plant was told today by a Union Rep. (as he was handing out modification packets) that KC was slated to close ...if we find this to be true in the near future then why in the hell is Ford paying for transfers into the KC plant? In my opinion if you see transfers coming into your plant from other plants then it would seem you had a future. My husband transferred in Nov. into KC...I'm still in IN trying to sell our home...maybe we should not move on that part so quickly huh? Good luck to all everywhere within the Ford system!
  8. Yes it is! Like I said on another thread...KC has been nothing but kind to my husband that transferred there in November.
  9. For those considering a move...my husband just transferred to KC 11/1 and likes it very much. Everyone has been very kind. Long distance marriages are not that great but you got to do what you got to do. Hopefully "someday" our home will sell here in Indiana and I can join him. Best of luck to all & thank you KC for being so kind.....and my new Escape...which today got tested on ice/snow and it gets an A+ :happy feet:
  10. I was referring to Chaney not Corker..per earlier post
  11. Maybe President Bush finally decided to make his own stand. Oh Mr. C's not going to be too happy
  12. Well that depends on if Mr. Chaney wants to
  13. Below is an email I received from a personal friend who owns a GM dealership here in Indiana Conspiracy Theory or Trench Warfare? > > > Is it possible the American automobile industry was hit > by a terrorist of sorts? Is it possible trench warfare was > used to dilute the minds of consumers in America? Has this > same warfare killed the manufactures of such things as > Televisions, Steel, Appliance's, Clothing and Etc? Is > America filling the manufacturing vacancy's that have > left America with new Manufacturers? > > It is my belief that Foreign Governments (namely Japan), > have led a trench warfare that began as early as twenty-five > years ago. I can conceive as an example, the Japanese > government and Toyota Motors, hiring nimble fingered > Japanese computer guru's or children for that matter, to > write blogs daily at web sites in the Opinion and Message > Boards. If you read at any Message Board or site that has > posting capabilities, you will find numerous blogs about > this and that. However, almost always is found a chant about > how this supposed consumer always bought a Domestic > automobile......had numerous problems........only to have > bought a Foreign vehicle........and miraculously his pain > and troubles have disappeared. Is this really possible? I > say not! I think Toyota makes a fine automobile. I think GM > makes a fine automobile. Ford, BMW, Mercedes, Chrysler, Kia > and all brands make fine vehicles. Is any one manufacturer > truly better than the next? I don't think so. I think it > is one's perception as to which company is better. Some > make better MPG vehicles but are worse in comfort. Some do > better in styling while the rest of their line-up rides > horrible. The list of arguments goes on and on. But, as the > future of our American economy plays out, will the next > manufacturing loss to America be the automobile business? > The loss has already happened if you haven't noticed. > Yes, America has brought back to the United States > transplant manufacturers. But America has lost more than it > has gained. Transportation has always ruled America. From > horses to buggies to trains to scooters to Model T's to > planes to where we are today, America led the transportation > industry! > > I believe the Foreign Manufactures and Governments have > played trench warfare with the American public. I believe > they have hired-conspired and written so many articles, > posing as a consumer, and bashing American car companies > that the American public has bought into the notion. I think > they write-in at CAR & DRIVER, Consumer Reports, Yahoo, > Google, and every site that has a message board. > Unfortunately, the American public bought it hook-line and > sinker. Are the consumers at fault? Not exactly. If > subliminal messages are beat into the brain long enough and > hard enough, you begin to believe! Following is the soft > approach to the thousands of blogs I have found: > > EXAMPLE : > > "I really feel sorry for GM, Ford and > Chrysler". "I had always bought GM vehicles. But > when I married my wife, she brought with her a 4 year old > Toyota. I was always taking my GM vehicles for repair, but > never had ANY problems with her Toyota! So I went on to buy > a few more Domestic brands and had problems with them too! > Yet my wife's Toyota just kept ticking along. She > finally convinced me to try a Lexus. Wow! Am I ever happy I > made the switch! I haven't had one problem in three > years. I get way better MPG as a bonus. The Domestics brands > never got me much MPG. As a plus, my paint stays on this > vehicle too. My Vega, Citation, Explorer, and Dodge Charger > had such numerous problems that I thought it was normal for > manufacturers to have issues. But with my Toyota and Lexus > it has been euphoric to say the least. I'm also happy to > not buy from a company that has evil unions. Everyone knows > the UAW employees are over paid. Plus, Toyota, Honda, and > Kia now have factories in America. That's American to > me." > > > Blogs and news articles such as this are found > everywhere. Are some true? Perhaps, but then again, everyone > also knows Toyota has had its share of issues too. I only > ask the American public and our Government to believe we may > be losing manufacturing to terrorist of a sort. The computer > has become a bigger terrorist to America than any one group. > > > Brad Stanley
  14. He supports standing up for your rights...he is just stating that there are other ways to convey the urgency in what is happening. Mainly what words you choose to express it I think. The concern I believe is the public opinion that some posts can bring about. Opinions & politics is what we're fighting. Yes, this is the employees forum BUT it is also a public one at that.
  15. It's cold here too! But not as windy ..lol I visited over V-Day & loved it...I am especially missing Stroud's fried chicken!!! Anyone want to buy a home in Indiana so I can go eat chicken in KC?
  16. I too agree that it is nothing short of disgusting re: the Toyota fleet purchase.... Today as I was shopping in Fry's Electronics here in Indy my salesman expressed his concerns over the economy and went on to say..and I quote "if we have to bail out these stupid car companies, none of us will have any money"......I surprised myself in the way I went on to handle this situation by simply looking him in the eye and saying "Sir my husband works for Ford Motor and you my friend have just lost any chance of a sale" He followed me to the door apologizing. I find it amazing that so many people just refuse to see the big picture here and the domino effect that will take place should congress refuse aide. Oh I would also like to thank KC for my wonderful '09 Escape & also for welcoming my husband to their plant . I hope to join him there soon. May God Bless all of the Big 3 employees & their families!
  17. My husband & 2 others report this Monday the 1st to KCAP (electricians from Indy)...anyone looking for a house in Indiana...lol Would love to join the hubby in KC soon but with this housing market it looks like it's going to be a long time:(
  18. My husband has signed on for KC (electrician) along with 2 others from Indy & as of today has NOT heard of report date. It would be nice to be notified soon
  19. Thank you I appreciate that Now we just wait to hear from KC HR I suppose...which my husband was told would be tomorrow/Wednesday probably. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
  20. Your post as well as Bottomfeeder's were put in much kinder words & still got to the main point. I understand your reasoning 100%. At least the both of you know how to show some respect!
  21. That is nothing short of just MEAN! Granted the whole Ford situation sucks big time but don't you think these families would rather stay where they are...of course they would! Just like you may want to one day when you could face the same thing. None of these people have set out to cause grief to any other Ford employee. We are all in this together...my husband just signed up for KC & I hope that those there will not roll out the same "welcome wagon" you have! But though your remark was heartless; I still wish you the best should you have to up-root your family & venture elsewhere.
