  1. I had a 85 Crown Vic,88 Lincoln Town Car,88,Crown Vic,99 Grand Marquis and now a 05 Vic..My sister has a 07 Grand Marquis..My kids have P71 Interceptors..I put between 200-350K miles on all my Panthers..I loved each and everyone..You have no idea how I am going to miss these cars..My dad [RIP] had a 60 Ford Galaxy and loved it..He loved his Full Size V8 Fords. I am going to keep my 05 Vic for a very long time..There is really nothing on the market now that can replace my Crown Vic..I have 118K miles on it now..I consider that very low mileage for a Panther that is serviced regularly. There will never be another low maintenance car like the Panther!
  2. I would also like to thank the employees of the ST.Thomas Plant for making such AWESOME Cars..Have been driving Panthers since the early 80's and loved each and every one of them..Hopefully there will be some good ones around for the next 10 years so I can find another one when the time comes. No other car will be able to go 400K miles with such low maintenance.
  3. That is probably why I do not see many Chargers being added to the fleets down here..I see newer CVPI'S in most areas...A Leo told me the other day the Chargers need brakes and tires every 5K miles unlike the CVPI.
  4. I doubt I will ever see the new Caprice in the City of Miami since 90% of all driving is stop and go and they smash up cars daily... The Miami Dade County PD just put a sprinkling of 2010 V6 Chargers on the road...Not sure if they will keep ordering them.
  5. The Leos in Broward County really like the Durango...They still have some floating around down here...They said it has plenty of room for them and they like how they handle...The only SUV I see being ordered in Miami Dade,Broward and Palm Beach County now is the Tahoe.
  6. The City of Miami made a special purchase a couple of years to get around 400 Impalas as they got that batch of cars so cheap they could not resist due to major budget issues....The rest of cars are CVPI'S....The bulk of the Impalas have cages in them but it's a real tight fit for the bad guy back there. I think it was a smart move that ST.Peterburg decided to get the CVPI'S....At least they can put off buying all new equipment for awhile...Hopefully other agencies will do the same thing but with real bad budget cuts [like down by me] that might be hard to do...Heard FHP put off buying cars for a few months.
  7. Sorry I did not mean in Leo use....In Leo use it's generally 150K miles.....It used to be 100K miles till budget cuts moved it to 150K miles....These are take home cars and serviced every 3-5K miles regularly.....Then they go to taxi duty or kids wanting to look like cops....Alot of kids down here buy CVPI'S with the push bars and antenna farms. The 400K miles I meant is the private car service guys and for people [like me] who do alot of highway driving...I have been in some yellow cabs down here with 400K miles on them and all those CVPI'S did Leo duty first before they go to them....The bulk of those cars were former F.H.P. cars.
  8. I agree with this....I have said all along they are pulling the plug cause the Panthers last too long...What other car can go 400K miles with just normal Ford maintenance...Miami Dade PD still has a sprinkling of 95-97 CVPI'S still on patrol.
  9. I had a 99 Grand Marquis [with HPP] with 200K miles on it....I liked that one better then my sisters 07 Grand Marquis LS and my current 05 CVLX...Hurricane Wilma totaled it on me in 05...I did absolutely nothing with that car [got it brand new] but a IAC...It still had the orginal plugs in it and it was running awesome...Just did the regular Ford service...Oil was changed every 5K miles with Motorcraft ...Lincoln Mercury did all the service on it...At the time I was dealing with a honest dealership but since then the dealership turned into a stearlership when it merged with another Ford dealer...Now I use a honest independent.
  10. It is nice to see the CVPI will continue on till Sept 2011....Alot of agencies [even down here] jumped the gun by ordering alot of Chargers already.
  11. I have been seeing Chrysler 300 ,Escalade and Hummer Limos in Miami Beach lately...Looks like I will be seeing alot more in the future.
  12. Actually I look to see what car holds up for the car service crowd [as well as law enforcement] before I buy anything as I drive alot from Miami to NYC several times a year...The fugly looking MKT is definitely off the table for me....Hopefully the MKT will be re-designed real soon....BTW I do see 300 and Hummer limos down here in Miami...I think the car service crowd might be buying up the late model police interceptors for their 4 door sedans while they are still around...The last time I was in NYC I saw the FWD Avalon being used by one car service company so I guess FWD is not off the table for some car service companies. As far as law enforcement goes down here in Miami-Fort Lauderdale it looks like the next popular patrol car will be the Charger as just about every department has some in the their fleet....Most are ordering the CVPI and the Charger as we speak...South Florida law enforcement does not seem to want AWD or FWD or EcoBoost engines....Maybe down the road they will change their mind...Overall the Chargers have been very troublesome in the past but they seem to be willing to deal with it instead of getting something else for now....I guess fleet service is going to be VERY Busy for the next few years fixing those Chargers. One thing is for sure whatever they get maintenance is going to cost a heap more then the Panther.
