  1. i thought if you put in for van dyke and had the senority to get the job you had to go no matter what. no backing out. rumor mill in dept 15 is that paul t. put in for the transfer and got it but if he wins election he gets to stay. this is not right if its true, need to see list if he got this transfer or not. please let me know if i am wrong about the backin out process, and also if he may have not even made it because of senority. thanks
  2. sure cant wait to find out what they r gonna do with the surplus workers here at sterling. If they have 25 spots at dearborn and nobody volunteers, r the low senority folks forced to go?, If you say no r u fired, ILO? Is there going to be a GEN pool for surplus workers then back fill with us to other locations as we r needed. I am very happy to have a job, what i am not happy with is the way sterling is being handled. The language says voluntary but then it says after ratification the final details with be worked out? what details?
  3. Sound like Dept 90 and 91 are gonna be first, they want all f-150 departments to follow, dont know when this is starting, anyone else have any info?
  4. hello, i was out of town for a funeral, had to miss the union meeting sunday, was wondering what was discussed about the alternative work schedule planned for sterling. any info at what was said at meeting would be great. thanks alot
  5. ok that i understand, some people were talking about 3-12's then 4-10's, did not make sense this way to me. anyway thanks for your info. hopefully we get some info soon. maybe sunday at union meeting.
  6. what is exactly the AWS, they r talking about using it in a couple of departtments at sterling axle. anyone here about this, how would it work, someone said 3-12's and 4-10's with 4 crews, thanks for any info
  7. thanks everyone for your input. i know it would be a tough sell, people with no kids, or grown kids, plus old timers who are used to afternoons would not like the change. as for parts shortages we already have them almost everyday anyway. The 4-10's is being used at other plants that voted on it. i realize we have gone that way at sterling, my point was that some things can be changed. again thanks for your thoughts.
  8. Why do we have an afternoon shift? Ford always preaches its family vaulues. We should be able to work 1st shift(midnights) instead. Here at Sterling Axle most of the plant in on two shifts (lately only 1 shift). so why not start work at 10:30 pm so we can attend our childrens soccer games, baseball games, recitals, or any other afterschool functions. When I asked about this they say the cost of shift premiums will not allow this. I am sure most people would vote on this and give up their shift premiums to spend time with their families. Some plants voted to go to 4- 10 hr days with no overtime. I know I could work days at McDonalds, or Walmart, but my point is if we can make our people happier you will get a better work environment, higher morale, less A-wols. I have 12 years at Sterling and have worked over 11 years on days, so I know i have been lucky. Maybe if we talk about this enought we can change some things. Talk to your co-worker and see what he or she thinks. Let me know what you think about this, any input would be appreciated, even the negative stuff that I know will come. Thanks for reading.
  9. sounds like there will 2 shifts in 16 and 23. i guess it all depend on production schedules.
  10. we have not heard anything in dept 17, we did here they are really pushing to move dept 17 axles to dept 16 and dept 23. they want this done within a couple of months.
  11. dept 17 is working next week. we worked overtime this past week and we are working sat also. Building lots of towncars and F-150 axles. everyone have a merry christmas.
  12. had a plant meeting today.. said we need to get rid of 660 production and trades. we have had 275 sign up before this meeting and there was a long line to turn in paper work today after the meeting. we have 5 areas we might loose. we got our 90 day letters on nov 12 to try to win these areas back. also said if we pick a month for our buyout the company will honor this day so we dont back out of the buyout. ????
  13. Last friday sterling had about 80 people signed up. from a commitee man
  14. When the people on tlo in dept 17 were brought back the people that were there were sent to dept 109 (job banks). they were placed throughout the plant on the wrif sheet to cover for the people that retired until the job posting are done. hope this helps
  15. Hey bbob maybe you should think about how many of these people there are around you and then times that by $60,000(usually much more). I know around me i see at least 10 slackers every day(just in my area) then add all this up and this is alot of money the company could be using for other projects. so before you start cussing at people think about what is written. have a good day
