  1. +1 I'm just an old guy, not an old racer but he's right on. I owned an 05 ST with all options. Traded it for an 06 Mustang (pony package). The Focus was much more fun to drive. I too never had one problem with the Focus during the year I drove. Wish I had it back.
  2. I had an 06 Mustang V6 with the pony package & it was a nice car. My Mustang stable has included a Bullitt & 94 & 96 Cobras. At this point, an SVT Fusion is more my style. So, I traded the 06 Mustang for a MazdaSpeed 6 - which is close to what an SVT Fusion could/should be. The Mazda is an impressive vehicle, has lots of new technology - 4-weheel drive, stability control, turbo, direct injection. Plus, 6-speed manual and airbags everyw everywhere, etc. It's much more drivable, primarly due to the transmission, than the Mustang. I guess what I'm trying to say is that sadly, for the price and technology, the Mustang has become a bit gray.
  3. I've owned several Fords, mostly Mustangs. But, I agree about the Focus. I had an 05 ST & it was a great car. Currently, I'm driving a MazdaSpeed 6. Best car I've ever owned, period. Just wish Ford would integrate some of this technology and "go fast" stuff in the Focus, Fusion, etc. After all, my MazdaSpeed has the Ford 2.3L engine (turbo) in it. The dipstick says FoMoCo!!
  4. I owned an 05 ST & traded it on an 06 Mustang V6 with the pony package. While I like the Mustang, and it is a great improvement over the Fox-body cars, I wish I had the ST back. It was just a better fit for me. The Mazda 3 is a great car I'm sure, but with the slow sales of the Focus, I'd bet you can find an ST $1000s under the Mazda 3. Not much real difference in the mechanicals, etc. Bottom line, I wouldn't hesitate on buying an other ST, and may do so when the new (Mazda 3) chassis and maybe some of the goodies of the European Focus.
  5. Thanks. May be what is happening with me. I can hit it at work but not from the home machine.
  6. I would like to see the MazdaSpeed6 2.3 turbo in it with a 6-speed manual. I agree. I'm looking seriously at the MazdaSpeed 6 but would rather buy a Ford product. Once again, I wonder why the "mother ship" can't offer some of the performance features of its satellite companies. BTW, the AWD would be nice, along with the turbo & 6spd gearbox.
  7. Has the address changed? Anybody access the forum?
  8. Sometimes bad breaks is just a bad brake. Or, vise versa.
  9. Don't rush to judgment here. It might have painted mirrors, heated seats and lots of bling. Maybe even a compass.
  10. >Someone tell me PLEASE why I would want to put 5W 20 motor oil on a 4.6 mustang GT. If it is the recommended weight that would be one. Oil, like a lot of things on cars, has changed significantly in the last decade. I'm an old timer from "the heavier the better and you never go more than 3,000 miles" school. Still change it at 3,000 and I use the recommended Motorcraft. At less than $2 a quart for half synthetic, that's a buy! I'm not an expert but I don't think the ambient temperature in Austin, Texas, is going to make a big difference in what oil you use. It gets hot & cold a lot of places in the good ole US of A.
  11. Gosh, I regret the hood scoop. It will get in the way of the decal of the running horse, ala the Firebird! On a serious note, is this thing ugly or what? No wonder Ford is in trouble.
  12. We know of the SEs that are/may be in the pipeline - California Edition, Boss, Bullitt, Mach I. I have it on good authority there's another - the Mustang Battery. It will be a hybrid. In addition to helping improve fuel mileage, the batteries will be used to power the heated and AC-cooled seats and mirrors, wheels with independent spinners (real bling), power, auto-raising hood and decklid, blinds that will raise and lower when the sun is at a certain angle, headlights that steer with the vehicle, etc., etc., etc.
  13. Congrats. My stang is a tungsten pony pack, purchased $100 over invoice in October. I have owned a 2001 Bullitt & a 94 & 96 Cobras. All things considered, the 2005+ car is a better overall vehicle. BTW, I started this thread to generate some new conversation about the Mustang.
