  1. Thanks for the pics, and the memories As soon as I get mine developed I should have a pic of the last unit as it went through UNI-METS with the crew
  2. TC HARLEY where did you work?Do you know me?do I know you :P I was on 3 line till they fired me this morning :happy feet: I know a few good folk at KCAP on the truck side . if you go, let me know thru here and I will hook you up with them if you or anybody else wants me to.
  3. Last one came thru UNI-METS at 8:57 this morning Used some time after that to do a walk-thru saying goodby to lots of friends that I hope to see again somewhere. It was bittersweet for me since the end was near for me even without the closing of SLAP. I had looked forward to the day I could walk out the doors for the last time since 1977 and now that it has happened I feel a great loss and sadness in my heart. I wish all of you the best and please remember the on thing I always yelled on the line "4 HOURS! " Now with that-please excuse me while I get my BIG ASSED HAMMER and smash my alarm clock and enjoy a few :beerchug: and start gettin my boat ready-crappie be bitin right quick
  4. Of production at SLAP is here I thought I would bring this back up Back In The Daze Backin the daze of '48,The war was over and it was great Back in the daze of '48,Uncle Henry deciced to place a stake Here in St. Louis, he made a stand To build cars and trucks with a bunch of hands Through the years, those hands had built Quality cars and trucks to the hilt First came the Lincoln all shiney and proud Then the Mercury with OOOOOs from the crowd To the baby Grand it made a great pic Then The Jewel in the top of the Crown Vic Alas they told us we were through But then a great Star was brought to you know who We built it with pride the same as the others with top quality from our sisters and brothers Once again they said it would end But like a great tree we did bend They gave us a challenge and said it couldnt be done Not even the Japs could make it run We built our Star along with our fame To build a unibody alongside a frame When the Star shot away we still had our Explorer Then a Mountaineer came to our border In 2001 our profits were great but in '02 we learned of our fate We still had a shot to finish the show and a new Lincoln wanted to glow We babied her all down the line Then at the end she took on a shine As our Aviator flew away We had a tear for this day I will alway remember those good days and bad 'Cause you know deep down my heart is sad Jan27,2006 oldasdirt
  5. I've got one more thing to add- Even with the facts in front of us,the ones that truly care about themselves and others at SLAP have sent nothing but 'TOP QUALITY" down the line. All of you can carry your head high as you walk out thru the turnstiles for the last time knowing that you built the very best Explorer (not knockin LAP) you could as you looked at YOUR future knowing it wont be building automobiles. Once again good luck to all of you 2 days and a wakeup till I become full time Capt. on the fishun boat "RETIRED" Oh I will still hang around here to see what is going on with FOMOCO because I still have a vested interest in the company Those of you that say "Piss on Ford" had better think about it,if you have any time accumulated toward retirement it is in "YOUR" interest to see the company regain its stature in the industry
  6. It's over. Body shop is done and gone, paint is clear up thru E-coat. From the numbers I have received, the last job should pass UNI-METS about 30 minutes into Wednesday morning, and the last on off 9 line should be somewhere after lunch Wednesday around 12:30-1:30 depending on how much the line stops next week. Good Luck to you whatever way you go with the buyouts, Those of you that are gonna wait for any openings at LAP or KCAP best to you as you are the end of the autoworker as I and many others here on BON have known. The next Gen of AW will be battling the same battles we fought just to get back what will most definatly be lost in the next contract. I hate seeing the plant go under-not so much for the company but because of the FAMILY I AM LEAVING. To all my friends I have made through the years, you will be truly missed. I Thank all of you for the stories told, the laughs shared and the support for the -hard times we all have had. May God bless each and every one of you on your future endevors
  7. I imagine they will be but the # of each type will be limited Now here is another catch on the PRLP (we call it the purple plan) 28-30 with 85% If you were on medical or were reinstated after being fired  you lose those points. We have a few that were at the bottom of 28yrs but will not get it because of their past history at ford so they have to sit in GEN or take the 100K Also if you are on the bottom with 28 you make out better than someone sittin on top of 29 because you draw the 85% till Sept '07 and some are only getting the 85% for a couple months(like me) if your at 29. Oh and age dont matter you still qualify for the full amount with 30 at 48 yreas old
  8. If thats the case it was a plant seniority ? -The qualifcations for the package did not change
  9. Taken right from the worksheet received at SLAP "Eligible employees with 30 or more years of credited service;or at least age 55 and combined years service plus age totaling 85 or more points or at least age 65 with 1 or more years credited service will be eligible for the $35k"
  10. If they would all go that would be close to enough spots to take all the SLAP people that really dont have a choice but to stay in GEN-the 10-27 year people. It looks like most all of us with 28 and over including the 30+ are goin out Dont know about how many in our GEN will be taking the buyouts.
  11. Just to clear up a little confusion here I am at SLAP and we have been TLO for about a year so... Here is the thing to remember,ALL FOMOCO checks are cut on MONDAY ,period end of story. Now if the state does not report your unemployment by a certain time on MONDAY they will not cut your SUB check till the following MONDAY. Which will make it a MONDAY late Hope that helps
  12. Charly I believe you missed the real point made in that statement-read the bold type here and you will see the problem that exsists in the UAW.I dont know the situation as to the CAW but if it is you are on a sinking ship the Union is in the business of being a Union. They are a business that sell you a service. Thats all. All the decisions the CAW and UAW have made in the past 10 years is to keep their own executive employed. How can the union keep growing on the top while its roots are dying
  13. Not to piss in anybody's cheerios but I dont think the # of packages at either place will be more than 100 each But then again I have been wrong before
  14. He said it was a deal to place some of the people at SLAP. Apparently the union and Ford have been working on this for a while and it was finalized yesterday or this morning. As for myself I am taking the pre retirement leave package of 85% till I am eligible for retirement at the end of the year. LOOK OUT FISHES :happy feet: :happy feet:
  15. National Ford disclosed this at our meeting today at SLAP They will be to both LAP and KCAP sometime in March with the packages
  16. They just started handing out the packages today for paint and body shop Tomorrow it will be trim They are just what has been posted here in the past for OHAP and the rest that have been offered packages Good luck
  17. Thanks Pointy,I pretty well figured as much but I know alot of folks didnt realize that is the same letter we got back a while so I took the lead from that time :D :D :D See ya on the 21st-gotta take my last vacation day before "THE END"
  18. I hate to butt in here but it is NOT the companys responsibility to see to it that you are doing your job I am grown up and I am responsible for the work I do and the life I live-nobody but me can make me do or not do my job.If I am not doing it then the company has every right to terminate my employment with them because that is what they hired me for in the first place. And to you young slapfuture I dont know how y'all been doin it up there but for the last 10 years here when somebody in plant sevices retires they havent been replacing them.we run with a minimum of plant services I think somewhere around 15 Also look for those positions to be contracted (outsourced) in the near future.FOMOCO can easily replace plant services for a lot cheaper and they can find a way so dont look to the contract to save them-The writing is on the wall
  19. I dont know much about this but there has been off/on rumors that they may put a 3rd shift on at KCAP on the Escape side,it's been floatin around for about 6 mos or so but has been real low keyed-then again SLAP has sent quite a few supervisors out there on both sides (truck and suv) and more to go when we shut down.
  20. Wizard on that 750 people deal,Is that how many are going to be asked to transfer? We have around 1300 people including management, that added to the # of buyouts you mentioned would put your #s about right if that is what your saying. (edit)That does not include our GEN numbers
  21. I dont think you will get a shot at them until all the plants on the closing list gets them-if there are any left
  22. Dont know for a fact but I have heard of paintball drive-bys on imports
  23. Dont know about AAP but SLAP still has not recieved the info other than them saying packages will be available We will be getting the info when we go back from TLO the week of Feb 20th and our final day of production is March 8th So if I were you I wouldnt worry about them right now, just take care of your buisness at hand.
  24. We are down for 3 weeks and wont have any details until we return from TLO on Feb 20th and will be having meetings to explain it to us that week I will give you folks a heads up when we do learn the details.
