  1. I read in the press release for the new Sable that they are in fact LED's. To me, they look like the kind on the Mountaineer, which really don't look like LED's, except if you watch closely they turn on and off like an LED. BTW, has anyone seen how the MKX's rear light bar looks at night? It looks amazing! They say they are LED's but they don't have the visible array so it's hard to tell. The white reverse/backup lights are an array of white LED's which is a unique application!
  2. Oh thank you! I thought I was being blacklisted or something. Yesterday I tried it on my work computer and also on my partner's Mac and it worked fine then read some of your posts and finally figured it was something with my PC!
  3. It is still down right now!!! http://www.fordvehicles.com/
  4. Has anyone else experienced this? I tried going through www.ford.com and clicking on the Ford Division and I get a blank page. Then I tried www.fordvehicles.com and the same thing happens, I get a blank page with links that don't work! What is up? I have tried at 3 am, 7 pm and other times!!! In these same instances, the links for Mercury, Lincoln, etc. were completely functioning. Imagine if I was a prospective Ford customer looking for the new Taurus or Fusion.
  5. Today I attended the Baltimore Auto Show and they had the "new" 2008 Taurus already on display! I was surprised to see it here so soon after Chicago. It was prominently displayed on top of a platform. They did not have Sables or Taurus X's though. Frankly, I'm already comfortable with the idea of the new Taurus. I also overheard a lot of positive buzz surrounding the display. I heard a few people comment: "Hey I just read the other day they were bringing the Taurus back and look, here it is!" Some 40ish looking guys were looking at it and were happy and excited to see it back. It was kinda weird because just TWO weeks ago I was at the D.C. Auto Show and they had the 2008 FiveHundred on display but not on a raised platform but just blended in with other cars but the doors were locked and NO ONE was giving it a second glance! This crazy name game just might work!!!
  6. While on the subject of lamps, has anyone noticed how many new European cars with projecter headlights have one burned out? I see a lot of VW's especially Passats, New Beetles!
  7. My point is there were no new cars in the pipeline until Bill Ford took over in 2001. The D3 cars and Ford GT weren't huge successes but the Mustang, Fusion, F-150, Edge are all great efforts for any car company. They weren't even trying from 1996 until 7 years later. The first new Lincoln in over 5 years, the Zephyr/MKZ was better than nothing.
  8. The fact is Ford, BEFORE Bill Ford took over, had not launched an all new car since 1996!!!!! His predecessors were idiots who let the competition get ahead of Ford. He started as CEO in late 2001, by late 2004, THREE years later, they launched the FiveHundred, Freestyle, first new Mustang in 25 years, Escape Hybrid and Ford GT. That's a lot of new car launched in less than 3 years. Before 2001, all they launched was Euro-based Focus, Escape, and truck-based SUV's.
  9. You hit it right on the head about the Interceptor! Ever since I first saw it there was something familiar in a good way that I couldn't quite figure out until I thought of the A8 profile, the cleanness of its sheetmetal and lenght. Great point!
  10. If I'm not mistaken, he was also responsible for the 1996 Taurus/Sable disaster. He then quietly retired from Ford.
  11. I saw the Edge at NAIAS and local auto shows in person, but seeing one today for the first time outdoors at the dealership really impressed me! It looks awesome in person and has more presence than any other current SUV/CUV. Way to go Ford! I was especially surprised by how good the tail lights looked today. The detailing and design are exceptional from every angle. They had 2 base trim models, with prices between 27-29K but still looked great inside and out, even without big wheels or leather seating.
  12. In case you missed Motorweek this weekend, here is a text version of their Lincoln MKX Road Test: http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2614a.shtml
