  1. Geez, if this isn't like the ultimate irony. I hate this clown and what he's done to the country, and now it's down to him to bail us all out........................shit
  2. First of all, have you ever worked at an assembly plant for more than 89 days, or even one day? Changes were made in the last contract that the companies were satisfied with to make them competitive with the foreign companies doing business here. It is not the domestics fault that the government let the financial industry run wild and screw up our economy, there by putting us in this position. As with most people in the general public, you seem to know whatever the headlines read, but not what really happens or has happened on the business end of the domestic auto industry. Go read up on some facts, get your information straight, you'll be surprised at what you find. I won't argue that some changes need to be made, and Ford for the most part seems to be ahead of the game in that respect. As to why I wondered if you'd ever worked in an assembly plant before, if you'd have spent one day on the line, standing in a pit working overhead all day, or any number of other jobs, you wouldn't be so caviler about enjoying the ride.
  3. It's not about who you know, it's about who you b%*#.................and that's the simple truth about why they don't even have to ask for money, it just appears when they want it.
  4. I read some time back Mullaly got rid of the Lexus, forgot what he was driving though. I think he's doing an ok job so far. He drummed up a butt load of money when he could get favorable terms for it, seems to be making the needed changes at the glass house, None of us can be thrilled about reducing the heads and closing the plants, but if we don't have the sales for them what is Ford supposed to do? From the management side of the table, he seems to be doing all the stuff that the dickheads in congress want us to do, so if he looks bored, I thing it's because he's getting pissy about congress and their demands also. So far I don't see any reason to fire the guy. On the other hand, the clowns from GM and Chrysler sounded stupid as hell. Whatever happens, it won't be pretty, but he seems to be the best one we've had in the recent past.
  5. Good post. Unfortunataly, we got our asses handed to us in the media, so now we've been tried and convicted by the rest of the country. We can hit them with facts all day long, they can't hear us anymore.
  6. Unfortunatly this is the the truest statement on here so far, PR is king, and the UAW got it's ass kicked in the PR wars. Outside of the Rust Belt, they do not care one whit what happens to us or the domestic car companies. I remember seeing the skilled trades guys from GM on TV a couple of years ago, drinking coffee and playing cards at a diner somewhere. These clowns were talking about how they had been there for several years and didn't want to go back to work, as most of them only had a few more years until they retired, they were happy to sit in whatever GM called their GEN pool then. This clip made it out of the area and onto television in Nevada and Florida I know of, because I took calls from friends that live there giving me hell about working for Ford, and did I sit around all day and get paid to do nothing. That's what we're up against, you can throw around all the facts you want right now, and no one is going to hear a thing we say. It's going to get bad folks.
  7. Throw my two cents in, I'm at VD, and a couple of the Sterling guys were outside smoking when I was leaving last night and said that Sterling needed 60 people back, and that they had been asked to return. I don't know them, I wasn't part of the their conversation, just happened to be standing next to them. As to the person that said they signed off their rights to return when they left, how would that work? Never heard of such a thing myself.

  10. What the hell is your problem, whoever the guy your barking at didn't give some snippy half assed response, he answered the question. If your that damn bitter, take the buy out and relax.
  11. Ok, point made. This has what to do with the contract books being handed out?
  12. This thread is a non-thread from what I've been told. They want to be able to represent the cleaners and to go to other small shops and organize (sp?). Local 3000 in Flat Rock was an amalgamated union, and it had nothing to do with internal plant union activities. I'm sure it will turn into a thread that has nothing to do with the topic anyway.
  13. I was talking to one of the Utica people at work today, he told me only 10 people from Utica made the list, the rest were from Sterling and Romeo. Also heard today that the number of people coming over has been cut down to around 50. Any truth to any of this? Who can say?

  15. Ummm, I don't even know who Joel is, but my shitters backed up, can I blame him for this?
  16. I haven't seen any on the road yet, but I've seen them at the plant I work at. Kinda cool looking, but I about fell over when I saw the price. The cheapest of the three was 33K and the highest one was 43K. Thats a lot O money these days around these parts, especially when you see the 16mpg city. I hope against hope it does well, but I'm afriad it's about two years too late.
  17. First of all let me say that I'm sorry to hear about whats happening there to you all, hang in there. Secondly about this body/final business. I passed through DTP when it first opened, and there was some sort of union fight going on about who was going to get the body shop. When the dust settled, it was given to the stamping plant. I can't remember the womans name that was the stampng chair at that time, but my buddy wound up over in the body shop. I guess she carried on for awhile about how she managed to steal body away from final. Now I have no idea if anything has changed since then, but if what seems to be happening is accurate, well, it's no real help to anyone, but thats the history of it as I know it. Wish I could offer something more helpfull.
  18. What the hell is the matter with you people, this person has a great story to tell, and in what, less than ten posts your arguing about God, take that somewhere else.
  19. Of all the intelligent things you could have said to make a decent arguement, this was the best you could come up with?
  20. While that may be true, I do beleive that international dictates to the locals on a regular basis. A simple example is how does someone that quit their job at one plant three years ago, get their job back at another plant, with all of their time. How does the family of international reps get their kids hired during the middle of buyouts and layoffs. You guys know full well that the locals are dictated to on a regular basis by international, the old boy network is alive and well. Again, while you may be correct about Mod putting himself in a bad position, I still contend that when international speaks, the locals jump. Except of course at only at VD does this happen, at all the other locals, they fearlessly defend the honor of their noble and hard working people against the evil will of international at all costs
  21. I was late, but saw most of it. Not sure what to think just yet as I've been away. Someone explain something to me. I was told that VD voted in a COA, but he says we don't have one. Whats going on with this? As far as the appointment goes, and all the arguement over that. Sounds to me like they strong-armed our local into making her the appointed one. Not saying it's right by a long shot, but then stuff like this has been happening since the begining of time. Everyone seems to get all up in arms about it and swears that this will never happen again............ until the next time it happens. Seems that nepotism is what makes the union go 'round, so why get in a lather over business as usual? Mod and Co. are taking the bullet for the boys at international, like they were told to do, so that the family member of someone downtown gets a gravy job. I know, I know, thats not the way it's supposed to be, but thats the way it is, not just here, but everywhere. Someone is cracking their knuckles as they read this to tell the world how great thier local is, and it's all for one and one for all, baloney. I'm sure someone's going to get thier shorts in a knot for my not jumping on the bandwagon, but like I've said before, this isn't the only plant I've been in, and in my short time back, and my previous experience here, things really aren't that bad by comparison. You wanna see some seriously screwed up stuff, head off to an assembly plant for awhile. I'll just watch and see whats going on, and then make my mind up about these guys. Maybe some of you have some first hand knowledge about what evil people Mod and Co are, I don't know. It's going to take me more than a few weeks to draw a conclusion for myself. Time will tell.
