MTP WORKER

Michigan Truck is slotted to be a flex plant. Flex plants will not be running on one shift.The logistics and cost of eliminating a shift only to bring one back when they tool up for another product are to great. Ford is still sinking millions of dollars into our plant. Look, anything is possible but most of the people rumoring about one shift are the ones that are either workers that are always negative and hate their jobs and would like a extra long break, worry-warts who only see the cup as half empty instead of half full, or are workers who want others to worry about getting cut or getting stuck back on a line again. Expressing negative thoughts out loud only cause others to have anxiety. If we lose a shift then we loose a shift. When the world stops spinning it stops spinning but enough of all the doomsday preaching.

Maybe you forgot about the stretch launch :shrug:

Michigan Truck is supposedly running an F-150 through the paint sprayers this week. Heard MY 2009 they may be in the mix. Ford just added a 250,000 sq.ft flex body shop to the existing one costing around 300 million. Other areas are also adding new equiptment. Maybe those Hurricanes and Turbo Diesals coming in the next few years will keep all the truck plant doors open.

I was at the local 900 on tuesday for a class and heard we were not working by a team leader who was working this week. He said that Cash told Nolen we were going to be down. I had a couple of friends call me that day and said the same thing. On wednesday I got a call from a supervisor saying to disregard the rumor that was spreading like fire and to report to work on monday. A friend of mine called me about 5 minutes after I got my call and said the same. I am glad that they called me right away. I am sure when you get to work on monday you will here that others recieved calls. Maybe they do not have your current phone number or maybe they just do not like you. :P Just kidding

God does not want us to be like programed robots who do everything with perfect predictability. What joy would anyone of us parents feel if our children could not come to us and say" I love you mom and dad ",without it being done with their own free will doing. God is just like us in that sense, hence the saying "made in God's image".

I agree with you on the loser thing but if it was not for the union would UAW workers or any other union worker be even close to the wages and benefits that they have been accustomed to? Hmmm, on second thought maybe it would of been better not to of gotten use to that kind of money/lifestlye with all of the downsizing

My wife just scolded me for my post. She said that I should lend a hand to people when they worry. I should of said "Do not worry fellow UAW MTP worker It's all in Gods hands. Plus it is kind of ugly. :P

Last night on WXYZ Detroit they had a story on the Chicago autoshow. They showed Magic Johnson unveiling two navigators one was in white the other in blue. The chrome front end looked great on the blue amd I like the new rear lights. I think that alot of times people will find faults in things because they want to. Kinda like a girlfriend that your sick of. :P

Yes , supervisors are calling everyone today to let workers know that the supplier issue has been resolved.

I do not care for the chrome mirror covers. They stand out to much and give it that auto parts store aftermarket look. Maybe just a thin line of chrome around a painted mirror would look better.

The suicides that occured had nothing to to with our plants future. The husband and wife suicide were people transfered to AAI. The story I heard was that the husband was fired from AAI and killed himself in his garage while his car ran with the garage door shut. His wife found him dead and decided to join him. Very very sad. The other death was a commitee man that I knew and there were domestic issues that were troubling him. Oh and by the way that comment you made about "back handing god probally won't help you get through those pearly gates. As far as our plants future goes do a search and type in" Ford flexes Michigan Truck Plant" Wards Autoworld. The hard hat guys are working like ants while we are down these 2 weeks making BIG$ changes to the trim shop and final line. The district commitee guys say that there is even talk of getting some type of crossover vehicle. Just say a little prayer

If you would gladly accept a pay cut to do something that you love than why wait for Ford to tell you bye-bye. Find something else now, like you said " why should you be a slave to Ford."Dictate your own future and sieze the moment before the moment of your plants closing siezes you. Words like yours sound great if your single, renting and have some kind of degree but thats not everyones case. There's not alot of things that most people "Love" to do that will pay their mortgage, bills, college savings or anything else that supports their current lifestyle. I'm not saying that workers affected should bum out and kill themselves. Sometimes change is good but it's probally going to be little tough to share your sense of calm by the ones being affected now. Here is my suggetion for the ones having to downsize. If you believe in god then ask for his help to stay strong and to help with the big decisions. If you don't believe then take a visit to a cemetary and look at all the graves. The bodys under those markers . What were their jobs.What were their worries and what were their hopes and dreams. Life on earth is not forever. Even the rich will have to give up what they have when they downsize six feet under. No one knows for sure if there is a life after, but if there is and you played your cards right then maybe you will find yourselve in a calm state doing something that you really love.

Our flex body shop is ready, we have a high tech paint shop that can paint anything and they are still making changes while we are down to the trim shop. Two bargaining guys told me friday morning that they are having talks about maybe some kind of crossover vehicle. We can build two different platforms and even unibody. Just cross your fingers and say a little prayer

I am not sure how to send a link yet but do a search and type in Ford flexes Michigan Truck Plant Wards auto. 2007 Expeditions will be sharing a high percentage of parts with the F-150's. We certainly have the time to build them with slower than normal sales of the SUV's and we did build them here before. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I know a few people who would be happy if uaw workers made less. Not because they really care how it would help Ford but because their so damn jealous. Then there are people besides the workers who would not be to happy if we could'nt afford their goods and services anymore. Quit being so selfish with your jealous thoughts.
