  1. Is this a dream you had or can you attribute this statement to some person from Ford or the CAW National?
  2. I tend to use words that most can understand.. regardless of it's heritage
  3. Nothing will be decided in Canada until the UAW and Ford settle, thats why Ford cannot guarantee a certain percentage in Canada. Does anyone really believe that Ford would commit to ANYTHING specific to Canada while AMERICAN autoworkers are looking for product?? That's why our negotiations are "ongoing". I can see the headlines now...."Ford of Canada is putting a new platform in Oakville and converting the St. Thomas plant to a parts operation. In addition a new family of engines is going to be manufactured in Windsor, these products were slated for the US but Ford likes Canada better and has now increased their footprint by 30%" Ahhhhhhh, I can see the headlines now.
  4. What saved us. The computers at work can access any sites that do not contain porno or other "non acceptable" material. As to your last comment, regarding WW2, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_casualties That has to be one of the biggest bailouts in history.
  5. Nice, very well thought out..................it's the fukkkkkkkking internet dont get yer knickers bent outta shape over a casual comment. IF you work for Ford of Canada then you have more serious shit to be concerned about.
  6. I'm not wishing OR protesting anything other than I want the BEST deal possible for Trades and Production
  7. Ensell is our new Chairman.........by acclamation
  8. In Canada it's simple you get sick, break an arm whatever......you go to the Doc, Hospital and in an hour or four you are fixed with NO cash coming out of your pocket. I know that it's not really free (my taxes pay for it) but it's nice to know we don't leave anyone behind. Line up with your critiques but the at the end of the day, I don't get billed for every bandage or Tylenol that I need. And yes we have many tech shortcomings....but I can still access USA technology and my ""government" will pay for it. :-)
  9. It was great to see the the skilled trades turn out at the hall today, .......................congrats on the whole solidarity thing.
  10. Dominating the market? they still have approx 48 days of inventory. When and if we ever get back to the +300,000 units a year we may start to feel a little better about the future.
  11. I'm not bashing anyone, and it is bad, how many patterns are we trying to match? We have opened our collective agreement so many times in the last 5 years it's become a farce. You make a deal and then stand by it, maybe, sometimes, until I get a better offer, until ad nauseum, etc. When I bought my latest car/home/computer/supper/shirt/ I could not go back a week later and ask for a better price, it doesn't work that way. A deal is a deal------or is it? The companies have us in their sights and they "bargain" from a dominant position, but the tide will turn and one day perhaps "we" will assume the upper hand and give as good as we got.
  12. Consider the 1700 as lubricant for what's about to happen.
  13. We don't have a financial crisis? Some of these people seem to think we do/did It may not be as bad as our friends to the south, but we are in a recession. Our steel industry is gone, the oil patch has slowed, the car plants are closing and for some it's hard to get a loan, and house prices have been going south for a year at least
  14. How have "mature" economies survived? Germany, France.......all of Europe really, is every country doomed to fall under the spectre of so called cheap labour from 3rd world production?? Governments will not change or wake up UNTIL the unwashed masses actually flex the real power-----votes. Posting on an online forum is NOT going to effect change, people need to do something meaningful, call/write your MP and MPP let them know YOU are not pleased and what concerns you.
  15. Ed, I'm in skilled trades, some of us are OK, not smarter....I spent 6 years on the line in trim, there are IDIOTS in Trades and Idiots in production they don't speak for the majority....bring me something palatable or it's a NO vote. That's MY take no one else's. Have you seen the state of Steel Car? when I left in October of 1994 I was making 17 and change as an inspector...you can do the math. As far as soothBOY ................already watched his attempts to overthrow the duly elected and I have 0 respect for the boy.
  16. YAWN ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  17. At any wage scale? The economy is already picking up, lets stop being chicken little and grabbing our ankles every time some pundit says we are doomed. Many great people have made sacrifices so that we can have what we now possess, and I for one will be f**ked if someone trys to take away that which is mine. Giving up a FAIR share is one thing, to commit employment suicide is another. As my Union used to say "FIGHTING BACK MAKES A DIFFERENCE" Lets find out.
  18. I never KNOW what's going to happen, but lets aim high and not walk around with a defeatist attitude....they tend to somehow blossom into reality. Lets keep our: 1) time off 2) fill in the blanks 3) and so on................
  19. I have not seen a list of "concessions" yet, however, once we (CAW) were forced into satisfying the Ontario and Federal requirements for loan guarantees for GM and Chryco the writting has been on the wall. OAC needs to at least make a serious attempt to break the so called "PATTERN" and get a better outcome for ALL the remaining members in this country. We dont have the government supplying muscle for the negotiations ......SO WE NEED TO DO BETTER THAN PATTERN.
  20. CANADIAN LAW SAYS THAT??????? really, which Canada would that be??? I took you off my block list because your comments are cheaper than cable and twice as engrossing..... THIS ONE?
