  1. I'll take that in a heartbeat! That's what I've been saying...if Ford is serious about getting people to leave, then just make it $140k across the board.
  2. Hey Sez, The plant is better, cleaner, and alot more pleasant to work in. I got stuck on a crappy trim job, having to bend and contort in order to try and complete the job..I'm not suited to it at all, and I was not happy about it. No matter how new or clean a plant is..if the job you're on sucks...it still sucks. They moved me to another line today, and that job seems to suit me better. My goal is to get into chassis, back to installing seats. I'm not sure which team room I am now, find out tomorrow. I'm in a better mood now than yesterday. Sure wish they'd open up that fancy fitness center!!
  3. Wow, no fans....same here at DTP. I'd like to know, how shorthanded are you now?
  4. Just curious...maybe a little nostalgic for MTP already now that I've seen that DTP doesn't live up to all the rosy stories. Maybe they'll bring some of us back soon....haha, I know that's silly.
  5. Yes, I worked at MTP (and from what I've seen of DTP so far, I wish I still did!)...Ol Deadly Tedly was in my 7/15/96 orientation group. I remember vividly, him sittihg in the corner, away from everyone else, trying to look like salary by wearing a blue Ford Bronco jacket he must have got from his dad. He never was worth a damn, either as a worker or union jackoff.
  6. Ted has the same seniority as I do..I know, because he was in my orientation group. He only worked about 2 weeks, before he "hurt" his leg, by "falling"....then on to medical, and a restriction. It doesn't surprise me that he got "hurt" again, to avoid losing his cushy union position and going back to work at DTP. If he got into a fight, he probably provoked it.
  7. Just curious, since I couldn't tell from your response...do you know what I was referring to as Riverdump? The place has changed names a few times, but it'll always be the DUMP to me!
  8. I'll be at DTP on Monday, yay for me. All this talk about OT and shift premiums might be moot, if gas goes up to $4 like they say it will. If that happens, it won't make a damn difference what plant we work at..we're all screwed.
  9. For the Riverdump's sake, I hope Monroe is one of them!
  10. Holy Bottom End, Batman!!! That thing must be one stout puppy!!
  11. Maybe it's because, if you're like the temps I've seen, you work hard, want to work, and show up everyday, and by rights you SHOULD be a regular full time employee...and maybe they intend to make you one come contract time..Lord knows MTP will need the people full time after the old timers from paint and body come back to the line and get beat up on 50 hr weeks with Saturdays.
  12. Turbo, AWD Focus. Turbo diesel Focus Turbo diesel Ranger..call it F100..make it a bit bigger, base engine 2.3L, upgrade 3.5L V6, or TD 2.3. Sport (SVT) version with Aussie 4.0 inline 6. Bring over the Falcon Utility, call it Ranchero Bring over Aussie Falcon, call it Torino..Cobra Jet hi-po version Update the CV, call it Galaxy, give it the 3v 4.6...keep it BOF and RWD Bring back the SHO Taurus, and Taurus wagon Diesel and hybrid Explorer and Expedition Diesel and new gas V8 F150, with cylinder deactivation Offer the Fusion w/ 3.5, and make a wagon Bronco...like the original, a Defender 90 for the common man Keep the Mustang fresh with special editions and increase the power. Turbo 4.0 inline 6 would be nice here Bring over the European Transit
  13. Can I pay for one? Yes. I already have one, and it's great for weekends and days off. But after working a 10 hour shift and driving home, there isn't time to turn around and go to a gym. That's why the plants have fitness centers. Allowing employees to work out on site, keeps them healthier and reduces health care costs. Anyway, I'm going to assume that if the DTP center is actually closed, it's closed temporarily..maybe for maintenance or remodeling.
  14. Can I order one with a taupe, control top, reinforced toe interior? What denier would that be?
  15. Of course a purpose built RACING ENGINE requires more breathing...many drag racing engines don't even use air filters at all. But, what any of those engines has to do with the 5.4 in your Expedition, other than burning the same fuel, is open to question. Your truck's engine is governed by the computer, and adding more airflow won't give you a significant improvement without changing the engine control programming, like adding an aftermarket chip. I've had open intakes too, and it's easy to think it makes a difference, especially when you think of how much it cost you, and you hear that woooshing sound. They're a gimic. Put an open filter on a styled piece of plastic or aluminum tube, and charge $250 or more for it. They make money on the things.
  16. GTO only means Gran Turismo Omologato, in Ferrari parlance. When Pontiac, John Delorean, used it, it didn't mean anything but GTO. Just like when GM called cars GTU, GTZ, etc. 442 was originally an option package available on 4 DOOR Olds F85 sedans, particularly police cars. I have an original '64 ad that shows an F85 cop car, with the 4-4-2 description.
  17. Any update as to the DTP fitness center? It's hard to believe the fitness center for the "Lead Truck Plant" would be closed when the others, even at MTP with it's soon to be 1 shift, are staying open.
  18. Ok, that sounds like the policy we have at MTP. I was worried..not because I'm a hibitual AWOL'er; I show up and work hard, and I'm trying, by working out, stretching and other means, to avoid going to medical because of my back/hip problem..I know what they'll do if they find out that I have what I think I have, but because I do have a toddler at home, and little kids get sick, and they do things that can get them hurt. If I have an emergency to deal with, I hope I don't get AWOL'd over it. Which reminds me....how does DTP handle emergency phone calls? Like, say the sitter calls me and says my little girl is sick, running a fever, and I need to come get her? Will I get a leaving the plant without pernission for that? Oh yeah, do you have any info as to whether the 18 month bump freeze is still going to be in effect?
  19. There is no such thing as a Cold Air intake. Any intake that places the filter under the hood, draws in heated underhood air when stopped, and when moving draws in the same temperature air the stock filter did. Also, there is no point in installing such an intake. All they do is "fool" the MAF and ECM into "thinking" there is more air, therefore it compensates with more fuel. That's where you get the negligable gain in hp, but also how MPG suffers. The claims about boosting hp AND mpg are bullshit. They DO make more noise though. All you get with an aftermarket intake, besides a lighter wallet, is a reuseable air filter..and you can get that alot cheaper if you just buy a drop-in type. If you insist on wasting your money, try K&N's website, or Ebay.
  20. FCC approved, huh? Anyway, DX land should be a regular destination soon...should be able to get more frequent flyer miles anyway. I remember back when I was a kid, late 80's/early 90's, when I had my dad put a Shakespeare Big Stick up on the TV tower, and I used his old Robyn T240D base radio. Skip was crazy...I'd listen to "Black Diamond" down in Texas just go on and on, slamming the needle in my radio. That was around the height of the sunspot cycle. I still have that yellow Robyn...used it with a sweet D&A Phantom tube amp..you DON'T want to know how much 12 fresh NOS tested 6LQ6's cost for that thing!! But, it sounded great..tube radio, tube amp, D104 lollipop, and one of those neat Ameco preamps with the big "ON-AIR" light. I usually kept it vintage for the base...had the Robyn, the Browning Mk III, a Tram D201A, and a couple Johnson rigs. Just something about sitting there in the dark, watching those tubes glow and listening to the hum, and getting that "Man, what kind of radio is that?" all the time. Right now I have a 2 meter VHF antenna on my tower, but that's going to go..gonna keep the expensive low-loss coax though. Looking around for a good base antenna, better than the Imax 2000 I had before.
  21. Let me get this straight..if you're sick, and go to the doctor, you're still awol. If you miss work for any reason at all, except if you requested it beforehand and got it approved, you're awol....if your child is sick, you're awol..the only way you can use personal time is if you request it beforehand..and you people voted for that shit?? How many people get fired per day at DTP?? Do they awol you if a family member dies?
  22. MTP, business as usual, full pull, 10 hours.
  23. I do think discombobulated IS a word...funny, that is the first time I've seen or heard anyone say it since I was a kid and my mom said it. Anyway, I mean to get my mudduck mobile back on the air..kinda got rid of everything I had when the local scene here went dead. Thinking about that Galaxy 95T2..nice punch for a stand alone radio, and SSB. I never had a Super Bowl setup like you do..most I ever ran was about 500w out of the house, and that 400HD I had would do around 800 or so..never knew how much since all I used were cheap dosy PEP meters. But, usually I ran alot less than that. I've been reading about the sun spot cycle, how that affects skip, and we're just about the bottom now, so DX conditions should be getting better..and that's what I like about CB, shooting the skip, getting my name called. Oh, yeah..I work at the plant that built your truck, so I sure hope you like it. Thanks so much for buying it!
  24. Yeah, but that's because I saw the paperwork for your truck when it was going down the line, and noticed "audio that mudduck" and "this duckplucker just got down" written it..so I made it priority! RF392 around these lakes said that, and I'm back on the quiet side..hahaha, I miss saying that. I done gone 10-7!
  25. In my humble opinion, Ford cannot be Ford without a Thunderbird. As I sit here thinking about the '55 Thunderbird I stand to inherit, the number of 77-79 Thunderbirds I still see in daily use, the '91 Thunderbird my mom put over 200,000 miles on, I can't help but wonder why there is no Thunderbird currently available. Say it over and over..Thunderbird.
