  1. I saw that too. A REAL Boss 302 had 4V Cleveland heads. This is almost as bad as some doof back in the day claiming he had a Boss for sale when all it was was a 289 or 302 with a 4 barrel intake. Not exactly the same... I'm not so sure I like the idea of using the Boss name on this Windsor variant and then using the same name on the new "Hurricane" OHC V-8's a few years down the road. But then again it wouldn't be a Ford if it wasn't confusing.
  2. PRM, I saw your post on mysporttrac.com where you were considering cancelling your order. I think your dealer is jerking you around bigtime. My dealer told me that a VIN has been issued and the scheduled delivery date is 12/18.
  3. Well, my order should be entered tomorrow. I went with the Limited 4x4 V-8, Carbon (Alloy) ext, Dark Charcoal leather int, moonroof, class III hitch, bed extender, tonneau cover, audiophile 6 CD stereo, satellite receiver and Limited electronics package. The power rear window is now standard on the Limited. The dealer is going to order the factory skid plates for the transfer case and gas tank through their parts dept and install those. They could not (or would not) get the skid plates factory installed since that is a fleet only option. I am also planning to order a set of BFG 265/65 R18 All-Terrain TA KO's to be used on the stock 7.5x18 wheels. I tried to get the dealer to order and install them in place of the OEM Michelin's but they wanted too much and would not give me credit for the Michelin's. Typical Ford dealer BS. They did say they could reprogram the computer to adjust for the difference in tire diameters, but I would have to pay for that, of course.
  4. Thought I would dig up some old bones in light of some new developments. I was looking at the Tire Rack's website and noticed that BFG is now offering a 265/65 R18 All-Terrain TA with a 31.7" diameter. That looks much better than the only previously available size which was 285/65. Plus the 265 will work on the factory 7.5" wide wheels. I read elsewhere that the new size is a direct replacement for the new GM full size SUV's so I guess we can thank the General for something.
  5. For all you LAP guys, is Ford planning any shutdowns in the next few weeks? I am finally ready to place my order and was just wondering if I should expect any delays. I finally have the Ranger sold and hunting season is winding down so the time is right. I tried to get my dealer to find an ST to do a dealer trade but they kept coming up with excuses. I suspect they did not want to even try since I am buying under the X-Plan. I found several that would have been acceptable by searching dealer inventories but, like I said, they kept coming up with excuses...
  6. Looks awesome! Did the dealer do the mods? I assume there were mounting holes in the roof, how did you cover them? I see the running boards are black. Are those from an XLT or did you have them painted? How heavy is the tonneau cover? Can one person remove it easily? Sorry for all the questions. That's the best ST I've seen yet. Good job!
  7. I would bet the next truck offered by SVT will be based on the next generation of the F150. The Adrenalin would have suited my needs much better than a full size. Whatever...
  8. I had a coupon for an extra $1000 off on a Sport Trac. Unfortunately, I could never find one in-stock that was equipped the way I wanted and the coupon expires today. But, since that coupon could not be used in conjunction with the X-plan its not that big a deal. If I could have found a truck like I wanted I might have been able to at least compare my options but that never happened. I wanted to wait for a Job 2 and the dealers just didn't get them in time. I even asked a dealer to find one for me but that obviously didn't happen either. Not much communication on their part so I doubt I will be talking to them again. I will probably just order it the way I want from someone else but it didn't make sense to do that if I could have used the coupon on a Job 2. Bad timing.
  9. Cal, have you seen any Silver Birch Sport Tracs come off the line since Job 2 started?
  10. So what is the correct name for this color? Some places it is called Carbon and others Alloy...A window sticker I looked at today listed the color as Alloy but the image looked the same as the "old" Mineral Gray.
  11. This really bites. I have complained about the Ford website in the past but this one may just put me over the edge. I have been contemplating the purchase of a 2007 Sport Trac for several months now. It really seems to be a good value and it offers many of the things I want in an everyday vehicle. It's not perfect but it seems to be the best compromise out there for my needs. I have not been really serious about this purchase until now. With the release of the Job 2 production and the fact that I have a $1000 coupon from Ford that expires at the end of August the timing couldn't be better. However, as has been happening all too frequently, Ford seems intent on blowing another sale. It's bad enough when the data on the website for the Sport Trac is out of date such as not showing all the lastest options, colors, etc. , but for the entire weekend it has been impossible to search dealer inventories. There is absolutely no excuse for such lousy service. Most companies have some sort of IT support that fixes this type of issue ASAP, whether its a weekend or not. How on earth does Ford expect to regain market share with this type of piss-poor service? My current daily driver is a 2002 Ranger FX4 that has only about 44,000 miles on it. Its been a good vehicle and its been paid for for over a year and a half. I see no reason why it wouldn't serve me well for several more years. I don't need a new truck but I would like to upgrade. You are quickly losing my interest...
  12. You are missing the point entirely, Pioneer. No one is saying they come off the line in the exact order of their VIN's. I thought everyone agreed to that weeks ago. The issue here is that the build number is assigned for a reason and in this case it is an accurate way to determine if a vehicle is a Job 2 or if it might have certain options that were only available after a certain series of build numbers were issued. Why do I even bother...
  13. You know what Sodbuster, I've been trying to ignor your stupid posts but this one really irks me. You obviously don't know a flipping thing about VIN numbers. I can show you a list of probaly 20 Sport Tracs that are now in dealer inventories that state right on the window sticker that they are Job 2 vehicles and every damn one has a VIN number that ends in 31000 or higher. That, my ignorant friend is a FACT. But you're probably too stupid to figure out how to even look one up. What bugs me most about your statements is that some people might actually believe you.
  14. Hey Cal, did you happen to notice if the mix of job 2's was really heavy with V6's? It seems like nearly every one I have seen so far are either V6's or really lightly optioned V8's. What's up with that?
  15. Just pullin your chain Cal. You've been a huge help to me.
  16. I was cruising dealer websites and ran across this VIN at a Cincinnatti dealer: 1FMEU51K47U A31886. It actually states "JOB #2 ORDER-07/31/06" right on the window sticker. Cool! Please note the Consecutive Build Number... 31886.
  17. For those not on Cal's e-mail list you can check out the photos posted by Pat Freeman on www.mysporttrac.com . Just do a search in the forums for "orange frost".
  18. Thanks. Yeah, that's a lot darker than Silver Birch. When I looked at this CarsDirect website it sure didn't look that dark. Since they are dropping Mineral Gray I suppose it makes sense that it would be similar to that. http://www.carsdirect.com/ford/explorer_sport_trac/colors
  19. Has anyone seen a Sport Trac in this color? How does it compare to Silver Birch? Is it slightly darker? All I have seen are the little color samples. Does anyone know where I could see a picture of a Sport Trac in this color? As usual, Ford's Build and Price option on their website is not up to date.
  20. You have chosen to ignore all posts from: Pioneer. Darn, where the heck did that come from?
  21. Sorry but I don't recall the word "liar" being used in any posts until now. You apparently have a very vivid imagination. All I have done is give examples of VIN numbers and a link to a FORD website that contradicted your statement. And I quote: "There are no consecutive build numbers." You have yet to provide any positive proof of that statement. And no one has actually answered my question. Which stated as simply as I possibly can: "Does the consecutive build number have any correlation to how the vehicle is equipped?" I believe there is some reason for the consecutive build number to be used and I wish someone would just say what that is instead of arguing that it doesn't even exist. So, after all the positive feedback from you I've decided its time to check out the competition. I have a test drive scheduled for a Tacoma Double Cab. You know, the next time you start making comments to potential customers who might want to consider the ramifications... :titanic: P.S. Just kidding. But I had you going for a second there huh?
  22. With an attitude like yours, if you do assemble cars for a living I am starting to understand why Ford is so screwed up. The whole purpose of my question was to see if there is some correlation between VIN numbers and the content of the vehicles. By that I am not necessarily referring to optional equipment but the base equipment that every Sport Trac has. Like the door panels. Who knows, if I could get an answer to this question it just might help someone avoid looking at a particular vehicle that a dealer has in stock. Everyone here seems to be hung-up on the fact that the consecutive build number does not mean it is the exact order that the vehicles come off the line. Great, at least we established something. But that does not mean that there is absolutely no correlation bewteen VIN numbers and a certain time frame when all vehicles may have the same base equipment or when an option became available. Like the power rear window. They call it a consecutive build number for some reason and I have to believe Ford uses it for something.
  23. Just so you know, I did check stangsunleashed.com and read one particular post that mentioned a GT500 buyer who was issued a partial VIN. It did not include the consecutive build number because it obviously hadn't been built yet. So I think this only serves as further proof of what I have been trying to say. http://www.stangsunleashed.com/forums/inde...c=832&st=80
  24. The point I am trying to make here is that the VIN number does have relevance to the equipment that was available at the time the vehicle was produced. Granted, the VIN numbers may be assigned before the vehicle actually comes off the line, but they do indicate the production sequence as shown in the Ford link I provided. My original question was then valid. If Sport Tracs are already being built with the new door panels there will be a series of consecutive build numbers that received this feature and all build numbers after that should include the same door panels just as those with power rear windows have higher consecutive build numbers than those that were built earlier without the power rear window. Unfortunately, the power rear window example is not absolute proof because it is optional and someone could still order a Trac today without it. But the door panels should be the same on all Tracs after a certain build number. Oh, If you had tried the FORD link I provided this is what you would have seen. Notice the very last line. It says "Prod Sequence Number A13974 " . VIN Results VIN: 1FMEU51KX7UA13974 World Manufacturer Identifier - 1st, 2nd, 3rd Positions VIN Code: 1FM Assembly Country: USA Make: Ford Restraint System Type (Passenger Cars) or Brake Type and GVWR Class (Trucks and Vans) - 4th Position VIN Code: E Line,Series Body Type - 5th, 6th, 7th Positions VIN Code: U51 Vehicle Line: Explorer Sport Trac Series: XLT Body Type: CREW Vehicle Type: Truck/SUV Engine Type - 8th Position VIN Code: K Engine: 4 L Cylinders: 6 Fuel: Gasoline Model Year - 10th Position VIN Code: 7 Model Year: 2007 Assembly Plant - 11th Position VIN Code: U Assembly Plant: LOUISVILLE: LOUISVILLE, KY Production Sequence Number - 12th - 17th VIN Code: A13974 Prod Sequence Number A13974
