  1. it won't be 18 months. full 2 shifts expected back up within 12 months. skeleton crews after 4 months. but people will be on TLO during the downtime.
  2. how is that against the contract? if you want to go, you can go. if you don't they won't force you to decide and give a strike and cut your pay and benefits off.
  3. according to our union officials down in louisville, they DO NOT expect anybody to be forced to chicago. ford would rather continue paying the sub/tap and hire $14 an hour employees up at CAP than force people.
  4. thanks for the info. the reason for my asking is because i am one of the approx. 250 people on ILO from LAP. some of us, although not a majority i am sure, would like to go up to chicago for a year or so until our plant is retooled. the other 800 still working would have no desire to go to CAP because during retool they will be classified as TLO for the approx. 6-10 month retool. good luck to everyone looking for work.
  5. excuse my ignorance on what may be a well known subject. is there any word on when, or if, CAP will be adding another shift. it has been my understanding that the plant has been on one shift for about a year, but is expecting to add another shift this year. any word on that? thanks.
  6. you are not too bright, are you? this tax is just the beginning. the politicians that are trying to ran this through...do you think they are going to underestimate the cost of this bill....or overestimate it?? if this passes, the working man is screwed.
  7. yes, you are wrong. but its understandable to be confused when we get a new "contract" every 4 months. this is like a bad joke.
  8. thanks, i checked it out. it CLEARLY states that the WARN act does not apply to union employees. the company only has to notify your union reps 60 days in advance.
  9. good thought, but they dont care about us anymore. my plant (LAP) had a written and signed agreement between the company and the local for NOBODY to be put on ILO up through our downtime for our plants retool. after giving up major concessions, the company changed their mind and the international did not help us at all. now 250 of us got screwed and put on ILO.
  10. spinning numbers only complicates the issue. its real simple. MORE GOVERNMENT CONTROL over our lives....its the liberal way.
  11. there is no need for anyone to read it. it its about higher taxes and MORE government control of our lives, the the democrats are for it. just another sad day in america when the party in control cares more about the hoax of global warming than its working men and women.
  12. just a warning to our OHAP brothers. if there are going to be any extra people at your plant, be very prepared for those people to be put on ILO. we just put 350 on ILO at LAP, and this was after a signed agreement for no layoffs until the shutdown for retool. we were told that approximately 1,000 UAW members nationwide would find themselves in the same spot very shortly. good luck to all.
  13. to clarify. those that are currently working when the plant goes down for retool (say october 2010) will be TLO. if anybody should be laid off before then, they will be ILO. even though all will be needed back in mid to late 2011 for C2 production.
  14. if it happens, it will be ILO. this is supposed to save the company money as those people will be without pay and benefits for slightly more than 1 year..KEEP IN MIND, this may happen even though the union has a SIGNED agreement with the company for no layoffs until the plant shuts down for retooling.
  15. the next generation escape, or escape replacement....will be on the new C2 platform. there will only be two plants building that platform. one of them will not be KCAP. i think there is a future for all of our existing plants.
  16. i don't know if we well see any more plant closings. sure hope not!!! KCAP would seem to be on the hot seat though. escape replacement will be built on the C2 platform, not sure what could fill the space there. truck production from there could likely be moved to DTP and KTP. thats worst case scenario of course. hopefully people start buying again and we can end all of this talk.
  17. dude, hate to burst your bubble. but many of those shows are not fox shows.
  18. alot of people are uninformed. but you have to be a real idiot to put something like that on the internet. if you have no idea what you're talking about, you should probably just shut-up. somebody should find out who that is and give him some facts. one thing is for sure though, the liberal media has done a great job of confusing americans about our pay.
  19. it makes me believe that they DONT want us to have information in a timely fashion. keeping us totally dependant on them is how they keep their power....you don't need to know anything, just know that they'll take care of you.
  20. tn tinman...just sent you a message.
  21. yeah, thanks for the info that sounds about right. i'll probably just go to KTP then. why risk being laid off and getting transferred somewhere else when you can just go work across town?
  22. could you please explain further? can they force the people that came from KTP to go back?
  23. the UAW is stuck in the 50's. our local doesn't even have a simple website to share info with its members. i applaud your effort, and hope it works (its needed) but don't see anything happening with the old school guys in control.
  24. i don't think they are, and neither am i now. but when i was, i hated the times when i had a crappy quality leader. you would have those meetings every other week, and just dread having to sit there. when we had good leaders it was nice to see a small group of people work together to fix problems within the work area. to be honest, it was all pointless anyway. anything that we ever solved could have simply been fixed by going to mgmt and explaining what needed to be done. if you're a member of a work group, there is no way that you should ever want the leader of that group determined by seniority.
  25. are you sure you understand the topic? how can doing the job of team leader right, piss people off? that is a valid point about union members deciding the pay level of other union members though. its really basic, for a work group to function properly the way ford wants them to work they need to have good leaders. the good leaders are not necessarily the guys with the most seniority. would you want other leadership positions decided by seniority?? union reps?
