My first car was a 71 maverick, 6 cyl. 170ci. My dad & I overhauled (valve job, rings, etc.) the motor @ 140K, not that it needed it, though. My dad was a fanatic about that kind of thing. This is the mentality of alot of non-trades that really PISSES me off. You think just because you work the "line" that you are the only ones that work hard? Give me a frickin' break. When was the last time you worked on a job that was outside, say 110 degrees in the middle of August, on a roof, laying metal panels after you had to insulate the roof. Or when was the last time you worked on a job in the middle of the winter, outside, when the normal temp was below 0 degrees. Or when was the last time you worked a job in a sheet metal shop, insulating ductwork, your start time was 7:00 am, you broke for lunch at 12 noon exactly, and you were back working at 12:30 exactly, and you got off at 3:30 and not a minute earlier. We never had the luxory of 6 minute of break per hour worked. We were lucky to get a 15 minute break in the morning, and that was only if you were working in the field. And when the job was over you did not know if you were going to be layed off or not. There wasn't the luxory of sub-pay, just plain old unemployment. You went to the hall (yes these were all Union jobs) with the hopes that someone had placed a call for an apprentice or a journeman so you could get back to work as soon as possible. I did it for years until I hired in with Ford as a journeyman. I would gladly go back to that if the need arose. I have been with Ford going on 20 yrs. and have never seen a permanent lay-off. I pray to God that I never have to. Why somone would volunteer to be layed-off, is a mystery to me. And this type of mentality is the exact reason why I pray to God that we never have to go on strike. Because I know that if there were skilled trades issues of concern, we would be sold down the river by the non-trades voters in a second (say what you want, I have heard it from more than enough line workers to believe it would happen).

You people who think that this song was promoted on the Beck show just because he supported McCain are a pack of MORONS (and yes, read the definition of MORON). Do you think these artists send out postcards begging shows to invite them on? No, the show contacts them. And as a matter of fact, I have seen a few different emails that has shown Mr. Rich singing his song on several different radion shows. If I am not mistaken, one of them was a show out of Detoilet, where, by the way, the democratic party has pretty much sinlge handedly distroyed Detoilet if not all of Michigan with its corruption. Yes, I do thank GW for doing what he thought was necessary to protect this country. I agree he wasn't the president people thought he could or should be. But, I would like to see someone else deal with the problems of having our country attacked (9-11). Thank you Trim. I wish more people thought this way. I heard something this morning on the way to work and it is the first time I can honestly say that I 100% agree with Bill Clinton. He said On Good Morning America (I think it was) that for the last 230 years people who have bet against the US have lost. Meaning that we always find it in ourselves to bounce back. I just hope we don't fall so far into socialism that there isn't a chance left.
