  1. We HAVE/HAD one Rouge wide, that was based on how many people actually showed up. Does anyone know if this still exists and what the stipulations are?
  2. They are doing this, and have been...it personally affected me last January..the the plant had put people in GEN 2 weeks before, then actually forced me and some others to train for what was no longer a "management" position and now would be our responsibility. They then "backfilled" my open spot (and others) with GEN people whom were "borrowed" from gen. At the time they were not allowed to work overtime unless all regulars turned it down. I trained for 1 day and griped my way out of it. I did post on this then... here it is : http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index...ic=9767&hl=
  3. "Added Bonus" or "incentives" From where? For whom?...A car voucher is meant for what it means,,,a CAR voucher. It seems to me that the car voucher IS the incentive...to retire...any other "incentive" would have to come from the company and would have to have been BEFORE the vouchers were issued, (pre retirement)...If I had a car voucher for $30,000 from the ford motor co., I would get a car worth as close to that amount as possible...not $20,000 and a free dinner...I guess I'm not getting it...
  4. With utmost respect, you will never get a serious response to your "survey" unless you quickly answer 3 questions: #1>>> What is this "Idea I'm working on putting together"? #2>>> Who is "making the most of the car vouchers"? #3>>> What's your job title at S.T.A.P.? I'm not being mean, but Ford employees (especially on this forum) do not take kindly to sales people and "diggers"...perhaps you should explain more...
  5. This post is so true ... Younger people can't know the cycle of things because they havn't lived it ...YET.. I did an interesting thing last night and used the internet to "refresh" my memory of the early 70's. I found myself on Time magazine's web site searching archives...It is amazing how close some of these news artices are to today, they could be re-published with amazing accuracy...from war in viet nam, to energy crisis, to big oil, to the democrats narrowly taking the house and senate! Even the dollar was falling against other currancies. Please read these old articles from the 1970's and then do some poking around yourself... Jitters and Glitters: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/...,945299,00.html Detroit Bucks a Buyer Rebellion: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/...,945292,00.html Countering the Oil Cartel Monday, Nov. 25, 1974 : http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/...,943070,00.html By 1975 things were beginning to look up...America is tough, we'll get through this...it's more a cycle than anything else....
  6. Well, Caddilac did have did have ZEPPLIN (oooh yea...OOoo yea) and we had "have you diven a FOOOORD lately!" and more recently Kermit the frog (sigh)....hope this new marketing guy does a little better. Got to go rake leaves (they're finally falling)...have a good day!
  7. I do remember the 70's (i was a pre teen then) I remember seeing suburbans, caddllacs, pickups, VANUPS(remember those?) outside for sale everywhere. I always said that sheet metal sells...example: say you are looking to buy a house, the house you stop in front of, has everything you ever wanted inside...but you'll never see it because the outside is ugly. This is sooo true with cars. When the 500 first came out dealers practically had to shove people inside so they could see the real "quality". Oh yes quality is a perception not nessesarily a fact...I'll bet most people don't even know the size engine they have in the car they're driving...lol
  8. Revolving door yes...but not visible right away...There is an expected skilled job shortage crisis looming by 2010 (kids aren't interested in this type of career) The big three simply can't afford to lose the skill they have. Now, they can coheirce skilled people to move about the company (plant to plant) which is being called "human kanban" by Toyota Production fans. They can standardize processes that virtually de-skills certain operations (consolidating classifications) but they CAN'T afford to lose the core skills...look for a more aggressive push toward apprentice training and Ford using grants and "education salesmanship". I'm NOT just talking skilled trades here either...some line workers know way more than management ever will about certain parts and processes they personally "refined" throughout thier career. This is the company's virtual gold mine. That is why The Toyota Production System fits so well. Revolving door will be slow but STEADY.....
  9. I knew there was some level headed people out here!...good post whosure. I've got to say though, about the way the "wind will blow" on the factory floor: This is the Toyota Production System to a tee (I've been studying that system ever since Mullaly said we'd do "more with less" and was quoted as being a big fan of the Toyota Production system...Here's generally how it works on the factory floor: Make teams that would include both tiers of workers. Give all the workers 90% of the materials they need to do the job...make each team 90% staffed...and give them 10% more work. At first sparks will fly between employees. The work is harder and more intense...this creates the natural need to INNOVATE thier way out of it. Once that is accomplished, there finally is idle time for the team...uh..oh! Idle time=WASTE. Time to cut back on more materials and staff the workers lower...you are automaticlally removing someone by INNOVATING thier job away to make the team more efficient. This happened at GMs NUMMI joint venture with Toyota...get ready for continuous improvement.
  10. Pioneer..Is that a guess or did you hear (or read) that somewhere?...they're keeping us in the dark there so I'm sure we'd be the last to know (at DTD)...
  11. Bin laden praises Allah and the attackers while "breaking bread" with his cohorts in whatever cave he was in, and then proudly claims responsibility...it's in the video released months after 911. From the horses ass mouth...believing or even considering conspiracy is not good for the soul...it eats away at you...Hey I think it was a plot by the FIRST GRADERS to get out of class for the day...
  12. If the we had the wisdom back then to elect this guy we'd be looked at as ALOT stronger nation today: “If I had inherited the mess that Johnson got into, I would have said to North Vietnam, by dropping leaflets out of B-52s, 'You quit the war in three days or the next time these babies come over there going to drop some big bombs on you.' And I'd make a swamp out of North Vietnam ... I'd rather kill a hell of a lot of North Vietnamese than one American and we've lost enough of them,” ----Barry Goldwater--
  13. There are more than a few..there are hudreds of thousands if not millions of these people, all with the same mandate...torture and murder the "infedels" where ever they are, America, Africa, Asia...every continent...infedels are ALL non believers of Islam. I don't say this ...Mohammed Does. Now, I agree with you on the border issue, but I bet you wouldn't agree on how to handle it. I would line the border with minefields and signs placed every 10 feet in every language known to man...DANGER!! YOU ARE ENTERING THE U.S. ILLEGALLY MINE FIELD AHEAD!! Now I have a question for you?...What do we do,,,what is your most perfect path for America? Give me your vision...I may agree...
  14. This is one man...he'd LOVE to live in your garage...take him in? A handful of men took down 2 of the tallest buildings in the world...men with the same ideology as this guy...this ideology has been around since men could throw stones, now the stones are bigger and more dangerous.
  15. All in attendance should keep the mindset of just making GENERAL statements on how they FEEL about what was just presented to them...SAVE your "personal situation" questions for after, these type of questions tend to prolong the process, bore people (whom your question doesn't apply) and creates more confusion...get them aside after and then nail "em with the personal situation stuff...that helps everyone..
  16. Qur'an:8:39 "Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah." Qur'an:8:39 "So fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief [non-Muslims]) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world)." Qur'an:9:5 "Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war." Qur'an:47:4 "When you clash with the unbelieving Infidels in battle (fighting Jihad in Allah's Cause), smite their necks until you overpower them, killing and wounding many of them. At length, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind them firmly, making (them) captives. Thereafter either generosity or ransom (them based upon what benefits Islam) until the war lays down its burdens. Thus are you commanded by Allah to continue carrying out Jihad against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam." 17. Would you rather walk the plank or be pushed off? Would you rather have a firing squad or your head sawed off with a dull sword? The outcome is the same but the suffering is different. The company waged almost all it's assets because it was willing to fight to survive...this is a good model for us. We're on a ship loaded with gold and it's sinking because it's too heavy...captain says we start throwing people overboard to save the gold...any volunteers?...If not you will be chosen...if you don't walk the plank, you'll be pushed off, if you resist...we saw your head off and throw you in the water...I think I'm fighting it out on the slim chance of survival...
  18. Thanks for the great quality and hard work that makes my brand new "vista blue" Escape a pleasure to drive...picked it up yesterday....XLT FWD 2.3 Duratec "moons and tunes package"...great job!! P.S. I live in Metro Detroit and I'm a die hard CHIEFS fan,(gave up on the lions a long time ago)...Been a fan since Montana arrived....GO CHIEFS!!!
  19. From Ford World August 27 edition, Q&A with Mullaly: Q. Employees and retirees want to help Ford succeed. You say they should know the plan and follow the plan in evey part of our business. Is that enough? A. Absolutely, follow the plan and contribute. The most important thing that we all want to do is accept responsibility for our business. That means it is incumbant on each one of us to really understand what our vision is, what our mission is, and what our stategy or plan is. We all need to be asking the question now: "What is the plan and where do I fit in?" We all have to get to that fundamental deep understanding of the plan and follow it. (italics put in by me) Alrighty then...WHAT IS THE PLAN AND WHERE DO I FIT IN?????!!! Tell us what plants are closing. Tell us ALL the remaining details of The way forward... Tell us which country you are going to next, to do business! Tell us how you expect to implement hours, overtime, and shop rules! TELL us how ACH people will be absorbed as per 2005 promise! Tell us why you and Mark wont live here...WHERE DO WE fit in?? c'mon PONY UP!!!.... until I know the WHOLE plan...you get a no vote from this guy...
  20. Sounds like you want me to be selfish...I won't go there but there is alot of dog eat dog around lately...I don't believe there will be any paycut. They're already doing that in the backround through veba, work rules, buyouts, and new hires. A paycut over time is more digestible to the masses that a quick slit to the throat.
  21. Yes that's what I'm saying...I do that all the time...sort of a way of "self preservation"
  22. Yes I totally agree with you Trim, Look at companies like Hasbro, Mattel, heck even Ron Popeil (RonCo, "set it and forget it") have all sold out to the Chinese. The quality of toys and has dropped emensely. But what the auto companies are doing, is less about "shipping our jobs overseas" and more about ELIMINATING them. I've been in the tool and die trade for 23 years (13 at ford), I remember tracing mills that would trace one side while cutting the other. Then computer driven tape machines, then computer driven 3 axis and 5 axis machines {today). That was progress...it cut literally months out of die construction. Now with FPS (a mirror of the toyota production system) they're getting us to "innovate" ourselves out of a job. Under the presumption of "lean" manufacturing and "giving employees a say in how the business operates," we're given a say on how to make our job "easier and/or more ergonomic". But, as soon as your "innovation" becomes process and your job gets easier, you end up with idle time. This would be classified in FPS as waste. During this free time, you are then given more work or resposibility to perform someone else's job. BING! one job out the door, not to china...sometimes not anywhere...Chinese people are simply performing menial tasks that WE innovated and doing it at $1.00 an hour or whatever. So I'll say this; if you have an idea to make YOUR job easier...just do it...you don't have to call the boss over and show him how smart you are...just do it, and let THEM figure out how you are doing it, if they even notice. It is especially dangerous to give any details or "tricks" that you've learned though the years to these new "entry level employees" That's more than wage attrition...it's JOB attrition for both...sorry so long....what say you?
  23. Paycuts are already being done through wage attrition...and THAT will be what is concentrated on...more buyouts+more "temps" at a lower wage+normal employee attrition= paycuts...profit bonuses are no good to us unless we get some from Ford China, Ford Europe, Ford middle East, Ford Africa...etc.
  24. looks like 4 years of $500 bonuses to me...any more would be totally dependant on "performace" and weather or not the company "claims" profit....as far as $20,000 bonus...well that's just ...
  25. Sorry for responing to my own post, but it seems there is much concern on giving the membership ample time and explaination of any pending agreement. I thought this would be a good time to bring this thread back up...
