  1. I lost respect, well before I hired in at ford... I was a committeeman/rep at an outside shop (UAW Local 155)...I believed in the power of "grievance" ...Grievances should be respected by all reps...whether you agree with it or not. Know your contract (it's your job as a rep)...no rep should have to "refer" to a higher power to file a grievance...as a rep/committeeman, even if you know the complaint is unjustified to the contract, you SHOW the person why you think so...SHOW them the part of the contract that will stop the grievance....Don't just say "that won't work" or "you're hurting the membership"...SHOW them....in contract. Then, If the person still wants to file, then do it...don't worry about what the local or IUAW will say...just do it.. That's how things get done ...or not. Grievance means complaint against what the contract says....Know your contract...don't just bitch about the consequences...
  2. Pioneer, you have been on this forum for a very long time...you get it...you have been, historically, for both trades AND production in your posts...What we are seeing here, is a division of work force on purpose...This is my first post in a long time, but I've always been reading. All 3 companies were betting on the newer hires to just be happy to have a job... then all three give an incentive for people to retire (although fiat Chrysler was weak)...Ford kept it's middle seniority employees to usher in the new way of doing things... for skilled trades, 1200 apprentices, mean 1200 attrition next contract... anyway, retirees VS. new hires, Trades VS. production...AWS shifts against 5/8 shifts...The company has watered things down...isn't it funny how most employees at Fiat Chrysler voted their agreement down?...when they had the most "new" employees out of the three?...it's human nature... ALL people want more...All people are inherently selfish...Company knows this.
  3. Well, the utility cleaner, who doubles as the hilo driver, when he's not driving a transport truck or called to duty for a coffee spill, is reponsible to throw the switch so everyone gets paid. He decided to stay home because of the weather. Every effort is being made to contact this person...suspected Florida getaway...uh oh... KIDDING!... Check your bank account first. It usually shows up there as pending deposite, before ford releases it to the site. So far, not there on either for me.
  4. Coffee is the most important tool of the trade... any real answers?
  5. I believe "sock puppets' Aren't allowed on BON... THIS POST, as compared to the previous post, by the same poster, to me, does not match up as per grammar. It sounds to me like 2 different people... Please post under one name....one person....Not one name TWO (or more) people...Thanks... OIM
  6. Please read page 12 of the highlights book...then please explain to me how we don't get sub pay....you MAY know something I don't...but those charts look easy to figure out... OIM
  7. OK...Sounds good...But something's missing. All team leaders can rate all 10 people they are responsible for, also... 1. Good worker 2. doesn't care 3. Highly likely to sabotage the line for his/her own gain. What's good for the goose.... Ahh, the power of collectivisim!!
  8. Now this is an excellent point...just look at the election process on the REP level... Is is a popularity contest...to a point that they practically gouge each others' eyes out in the name of "brotherhood, sisterhood"...now think about that on a national level....the union would look petty to the outside world.
  9. Mr. Johnson, This democracy/ republic is a funny thing...When you voted for president....how much do you think that vote counted? I ask this because the popular vote in the 2000 election, for Pres. showed Gore as the winner. the system is set up for electorial votes, just like the UNION. So, you DON't have a say (like you think) ...the electorate has a say...this is how it is set up in the UAW as well... Like it or not... There is no petition signing, no re vote, just DEAL with it. I think chicago people should see this: THE VOTE IS DONE... CONTRACT IS PASSED.... Work to hold the company to this contract, study it...look at it, enforce it...because someday...maybe soon... they will violate it... OIM
  10. You Know, I hope everyone on this board reads THIS post. If I were in your position, my vote would have been no also. I can't in good faith say otherwise. But the beauty of your comment, lies in the amazing positivity. The company should seek you out, and place you in ANY plant of your choice, and all the union members should agree to it. It's not easy being an autoworker, especially when the media will show how much "big" money we ask for or are currently making...all to a backdrop video, of an autoworker in clean clothes, sticking the jacking instructions on the trunk! Ford plant work, is at least 40,999 times harder than that. Throw in job uncertainty, and things can't get much harder. The problem I have with some of the other no votes, is they really did not have any good reason to vote no...you both absolutely do. In the spirit of this topic, "me lady", I absolutely admire your strength, courage, and mostly your positive outlook. You have this autoworker's utmost respect.... OIM
  11. All leaders are team leaders...with up to 10 floor employees...AM I right?...I don't Know??
  12. Stang...thank you for being honest and up front. First, let me say this...the contract...ANY...contract...works to set minimal pay scale for all employees. This raise for "team leaders" sets that minimum pay scale higher. THERE IS NOTHING IN ANY CONTRACT THAT SAYS THE COMPANY CAN'T PAY YOU MORE. If you could know the wages for the workers that work next to you, you might be suprised. And what makes you think I'm getting a raise? if I can ask... I think, in this economy...this POLITICAL economy, that we all should be happy to put food on the table and make our bills. Fighting for any more than this...right now...is futile...
  13. Yep, sounds like you've got your head on straight...Me, I really want the big screen T.V.....But I'll put those thoughts on hold for a while...lol OIM
  14. The dow is down 135, GM down .5 %. Both moodys and S&P put ford on positive watch for ratings. Ford stock is holding steady and a bit up so far. WE know there is a statistical probability that the contract passes. Buy now, and add to your bonus. Defray some of the taxes....just sayin' OIM
  15. Why would that make a difference? If you were, and you were getting a raise, I'd be happy for you, although I would expect that you worked to earn it...
  16. hanginon...I think you should do as your screen name says....Hang on. Michigan is an excellent state (so is Ohio), and it would be nice to have you up here, but I hope you get to stay near where you are...Thanks for your kudos...it feels nice to be back on here... OIM
  17. IMA!! , It's Sooo Good to hear from you. You've ALWAYS had such even minded comments...Good to see you out here, my friend...
  18. Hello all, It's been a long time since my last post...YEARS. I've lurked on here at leat 3 times a week, all this time. It's good to see some of the "back in my day" posters are still out here. People like Pioneer, Bigredogre, whereswaldo, furious1auto, oh, and Trimdingman (by far my favorite poster), who gave me quite a laugh with this morning's post with the dental cost comment. Anyway, I'm already seeing coments about who's fault it will be in 4 years, and who's fault it will be if we went on strike. The fact is, if we went on strike, it WOULD be the NO voters fault, or ehh victory, depending on the outcome. If this contract passes, there is no telling what to expect in the next 4 years, EXCEPT, for the short term, (or long term?) , we will still go to work every week. Look, I've gone through alot in 17 years with Ford, but by far, the biggest thing was the CHOICE I had to make, to take a $100,000 buyout, education buyout, or keep working, hoping my plant didn't close or I had to be displaced to another plant. After agonizing for months over this, I came to a revelation...I came here to work, and I wasn't gonna let anyone FORCE me to make a choice,,,My choice was made when I hired in : I'm Gonna work here, till they THROW me out of here. I have to laugh, when people say thing like "Gary W is a republican insider," or imply that all the no voters are wide eyed crazy liberals, who would be better served, laying down on wall street and demostrating. I am so happy to see that the MODS have thrown out the political posters on this forum. BUT, nowadays, everything seems to become political. Personally, I think the employees of this company, are some of the best in the land, and we make some DAMN good products...With some DAMN good people. I Voted yes on this contract...if you voted no, I respect your vote (although I have not found one reason to agree)... Let's get this over with, and get working...we have a WORLD to "WOW".... Carry on...I'll be reading OIM
  19. District Rep died from a massive heart attack in the engine plant...he was gone when they found him...God bless his family...
  20. Well D (sorry I just can't call anyone Dork), I believe people need to start spending through confidence, not saving through fear...one problem with layoffs is they do nothing to stimulate the economy. also, at say 10,000 buyouts at $50,000 a crack= a half billion anyway (5000 would be a quarter billion). Also GEN is just "suspended" now. oh yea I'm sure you're right about $5.00 a day, not week...thanks OIM
  21. To all U.A.W. workers inside Ford...Would you buy a Ford, this month, If you were to have guaranteed employment with Ford for the lifetime of the LOAN? Think about it...You BUY a Ford vehicle-- Ford gives you GEN for the lifetime of the loan-- You must use Ford Motor Credit for financing the loan-- If you default on the loan, you lose your GEN rights-- MANY fORD PRODUCTS GET SOLD WITHIN MONTHS--- GM and Chrysler may follow suit in order to stay somewhat competitive--- Transplants scramble to do the same--- But by that time: At roughly 40,000? employees, maybe half (or less) take advantage of this. Probably mostly lower seniority people. Lets say 15000 to 20000 take advantage of this. 20000 X 25000 for a car (some higher, some lower)= $500,000,000 (half a billion) within months! Ford Motor Credit, at let's say 2% interest brings in: 500000000 X 2%= $10,000,000 through the lifetime of th loans. Ford gains a small bit of market share, Ford has a quick infusion of cash, FMC turns in a strong quarter, we as proud Ford employees, act as stewards for our product driving ONE FORD and the company offers to extend your GEN for 1 week for every Ford pin you can give to bring more of the customers our way. The CON gress can't bitch because WE are stimulating the economy! GM & Chrysler must do something similar or the continue their death spiral. Ford once again is absolutely responsible for saving the U.S. economy...Like our founder did with $5.00/ week. And those who took advantage of this car for GEN plan, can walk through the next 3 years and spend more money towards the economy, happy and proud to be an employee whose company used ONE FORD, ONE AT A TIME....to save the U.S.A........
