  1. quote name='PITYNOMORE' date='Oct 10 2007, 11:13 AM' post='233893'] 11:05 Chrysler workers on strike. They will now deal with the three headed Myth legend. Cereubus. "This city is headed for a disaster of Biblical proportions...Old testament stuff...real wrath of God type stuff...Fire and brimstone coming down from the sky...rivers and seas boiling...4 years of darkness...earthquakes and volcanos...the dead rising from the grave...... HUMAN SACRAFICE! ...DOGS AND CATS LIVING TOGETHER!!.....MASS HYSTERIA!!! --The Ghostbusters-- Uh..really though, all we can do is just wait it out. There's not much the members can do untill ratification voting. Go out and fight the good fight...just DON'T cross the streams!!
  2. Shop rules, attendance policies and the like, are the real dark horse here that really isn't being talked much about. G.M. didn't have as comprehensive C.O.A. type mid term agreements like Ford. Most of these policies were already shoved down our throat under plant closure threats in the past year or so. I'll bet if you look into your plants current C.O.A. you'll find the answer...At my plant, the C.O.A doesn't seem to have changed things ...YET!! Once we swallow enough of the "major" contract issues and ratify them, the policy beast will be released and it will feel to most like a unexpected sucker punch. We had a "corporate wide" safety talk last night that was mandatory for everyone to hear...just a setup for something else...remember what the company said last November...We will do MORE with LESS!!!
  3. If /when the international comes to an agreement with Ford and locals hold thier explaination/ratification meetings, why not put reps that are best KNOWLGEABLE in each seperate contract item at tables in the hall to answer specific questions about each specific item... i.e. Mr. Jones will answer your specific questions about health care at table #1 Mrs. Smith will answer your specific questions at table #2 about retirement...etc.. This worked well during the buyout explaination meeting. It allows for time to present highlights, take some general comments and questions from the floor, then answer specific questions members may have like: Here's my situation...blah blah....will this health care proposal affect this? ...These type of questions when asked on the floor, tend to confuse and distract the members from the issues. Just a suggestion....
  4. Here's a good start ...made in America..."unleaded" http://www.howtobuyamerican.com/ http://www.buyamerican.com/
  5. This was released by NY times last night well before the 3AM "break" (yes I did consider the source}...

  7. Check this article out TRIM...if true, this is simply amazing http://www.dailytech.com/German+Scientists...article8487.htm
  8. I happen to like this subject (I've never taken any drugs higher than Motrin, outside of hospital visits) Thanks Trim. Einstein's theory of relativity has been proven to a degree, that is, one can move forward in time but not backward, or at least backwards doesn't fit into THIS theory. Einsteins theory proves that time and space (distance) are NOT constant, however the speed of light IS. It never slows down or speeds up. So this hints that light is the key to the universe, NOT a byproduct thereof (My opinion only). In order to better understand the theory, there is a walkthrough on PBS/ NOVA website. Walk through it and it's very understandable. Here's the link: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/time/think.html Oh, by the way, I wouldn't try to stick my hand out the window and fire a bullet at that speed, you might get it ripped off by an oncoming space ship attempting the same experiment (hehe)...
  9. I posted this on Jan 13 07: "company using gen money for production!" At Dearborn Tool and Die, upon arriving to work yesterday, I was given paperwork that forces me on days into a management position. (I'm hourly blue collar) The COA makes this part of our job now so we MUST train for it. 30 or so of us MUST leave the floor and do this...who will work on the floor then?.....GEN people!! I asked why GEN people couldn't be forced into these positions....I was told that this is training, it is paid through training funds...GEN is a seperate fund..they are paid by GEN, GEN people can't go to training...So back on topic, Training money (not building money) is used for 30 of us..after a time, training money for our building will be depleted....GEN money (not building money) is used to replace workers on the floor... so the building gets out of paying 60 people, at the expense of training money and GEN money..clever...My deduction? Company is depleting the GEN pool money, and using it for productivity instead of what it is designed for. I'm gonna be a hybrid white collar worker now against my will...but hey...maybe they'll FORCE me into Mark Fields position someday.... They're still doing it. At first they were not eligable to work overtime, now they are...only if the company needed more than those reg's who accepted the overtime....I don't think many believed me on this forum then...but it's happening....by the way, I've since conned them out of that stupid "pork chop" job and returned to the floor...WHEW!
  10. haven't heard much from Sterling...wazzuupp?
  11. My (former) home in Sterling Heights Michigan will become availabe for Rent, Lease/option or sale. I have month to month tenents in there now that are not working out. I can revoke their tenancy at the end of any given month...So I just thought maybe someone who is or will be transfering to Sterling (Van Dyke) may be interested in "trying out" or purchasing my home. It's a 4 Bedroom 2 full bath split level (1680 sq. ft) home in a desirable area in Sterling Heights, less than 10 minutes to the Van Dyke plant, 50 minutes to the Rouge complex (I drive it every day, I still live in Sterling Heights) I thought I'd make it available to my co-workers before putting in on the open market next month. I'm not a realtor or anything like that...just trying to find more suitable tenants/ buyers and help a transferee now or in the near future..Thank you..
  12. GOD that was a great post!! I'm still laughing...
  13. The plant manager put out a memo thanking the "teams?" on how well they presented the building to Hinrichs and his entorage. Word from one supervisor who took part in the tour is Hinrichs was invited to come and visit months ago and finally found time to show up....He liked the plant and commented on how many great strides we've made in the past few years...Now I gave it about a week before posting just to see if the story changed in that time...Sorry guys, but our plant manager tends to change things on a dime, so I just wanted to give it time first... Last night we were canvassed for a transfer to Wayne stamping ...working 7/12s... no way for me...we have alot of dies on the floor, too many for the shrunkin work force...so I see an outsorcing coming soon...we are on voluntary 10s + Saturday...That's all for now folks...I'll keep you posted
  14. Well, this is a subject I'm too familiar with I have a brother who NEVER moved out of Dad's house...he's 42...he's stilll there. How did this happen? Well he kind of "grew" into staying put. He followed Dad's footsteps and became a custodian in the local school system...he has three cars, one moped, and walks to work...Dad still does his laundry and makes dinner for him...he's had only 2 girlfreinds that both didn't work out...Now, he's not retarded, slow, or disabled. He got straight A's in high school. He's never had a charge card, never cooked his own meals, never cut the crass (he wouldn't even know how) he makes 35000/year and has banked ALL of it for like 16 years! He has become anti social and obsessive compulsive. Dad is 74 years old and would not even hear talk of him leaving. I live 5 minutes away IN MY OWN HOUSE and I see my bro maybe twice a year...sad story huh...If any young person has a plan to continue living at home, this story should be a deterent, this is the extreme...If any loving parent wishes to do right by his kid, he should get his kid out as soon as possible so BOTH become self sufficient... and not a burden on the rest of the family....get a job and get out...it's the healthiest thing really...
  15. We have approx. 20 or so in GEN but these people have been "loaned" back...right back to the job they were laid off from. They aren't eligible for overtime and they get paid from GEN money...I have to agree with 67STANG, we were probably the first to get the dreaded COA, the entire complex voted on it and it passed. That was last Oct. DT&D, and DTP voted it down but all plants in the complex count, so we live with it. Company is hearding us around to chase the hottest jobs, throwing us on different shifts...etc. There is no reason for Hinrichs to come to DT&D unless he wants to showcase us or announce a closing...he's to high up to be "just visiting" ...I'll grit my teeth and see what it was about when I show up this afternoon....will post after...
  16. Joe Hinrichs showed up last week in cleveland and we all saw what happened...is DT&D next? To anyone from Cleveland casting....was this guy around a few weeks or so before the announcement? Seems any time Joe Hinrichs shows up, it's either total bad news or total good news...nothing in the middle...not feeling good about tomorrow.....
  17. Just mouse over the ad and look at your task bar...here's the url "root" that handles the ad...funny, I don't see Toyota as one of the "Partners". there is a number to contact the staff of this site and pics of them too!...anyway, here it is...http://warnerrobert.com/
  18. Please note how he again says he's a "student" of the toyota production system...and then later says he implemented it at Boeing... http://asia.news.yahoo.com/070223/kyodo/d8nfn17g1.html Then read this: http://www.wpb.be/icm/98en/98en11.htm TPS is FPS...same animal...
  19. This "Ford is off track" stuff sounds fishy to me. For one thing...how did this start? In a message from Fields to EMPLOYEES....This sounds like a manufactured "mini" crisis to warm our brains up for contract negotiations... "May not get enough buyouts" = "we got too many we need temps" "The way forward is running ahead of schedule"= "The way forward is off track" "If not enough salary take buyouts we will lay off"= "we are keeping some" "We will be a much smaller company"="We will be a much smaller company!" Ford is ON track, I believe. They just needed to use a little K.I.T.A on the union and it's employees... K.I.T.A= Kick In The A** (pants)
  20. I'm starting to get an eerie feeling about the future of DT&D...
  21. Posted at Daerborn Tool and die yesterday Request for 26 diemakers, die t/o... to go to Woodhaven stamping...on an irrevokable transfer...they are asking from GEN tlo and all currents in those classifications....there are 76 currents only left here to choose from....it's juggle time for skilled trades...get ready
  22. madman is not mad (crazy), he is on the right track...just the wrong train. We should not be marching around talking about quality comparisons, unfair disadvantages, and especially job losses and effects on the American auto workers...this falls on deaf ears to the customers, the media, and society in general..."bunch of crying auto workers complaining about how THEY can't compete" ..that's what will be shown... What needs to be done is EXPOSING TOYOTA FOR THE SLAVE ORGINIZATION THAT IT IS!!... Some media entity needs to start intervewing real toyota workers off camera...to expose the "system" of how they operate thier business and how slavery is built in to it... http://www.wpb.be/icm/98en/98en11.htm interview workers at NUMMI plant (G.M.-Toyota venture) interview HOSPITAL nurses who's hospital has adopted this system of operation. Hang out on a toyota employee forum and read...Talk to real Toyota employees ... http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cf...amp;ItemID=6533 ...expose how Toyotas supplier structure exists..(the lower the tier the more fierce the competition) until they get caught using strip mining slaves in Brazil (some 12-15 YO) that are in bondage mining coke for toyota as a low tier supplier...Fast forward to Ford and here is what we have to look forward to...it's called the Toyota Prodution System... and it's evil....to ALL Americans... http://www.allbusiness.com/management/800993-1.html Tachi Ohno one of the original founders of TPS has said back in the 70's that The best slave is one who is happy to be one, and very proud of it...We need the media people...Wilson....Help!
  23. DDMP is the frame plant located inside the rouge plant (next to Tool and die plnt) last Sept. they were told if they voted in th C.O.A. they would POSSIBLY get a new frame job. Frame (DDMP) voted it in ...as far as I know there are/were minimum employees there...I was in there a couple of times...noisey place...and NO windows...hope that helps brother...
