  1. I agree and the 500/taurus is a HUGE improvement over the '06 taurus they were just selling. Ford has been pretty good with bringing names back and providing the product to back the name. (we'll just pretend the marauder didn't happen.. :ninja: ) edit: that response was to hugh - you guys post fast around here  and Nick, thats pretty much what I was trying to say.
  2. I don't think anyone was complaining or asking for more. Just simply questioning what he intended to gain from it, especially since its only 1 day and it will most likely be sugar coated.
  3. I think I've read somewhere that the current 5r110 is actually a 6 speed transmission that only uses 5 of the gears based on different conditions mostly because the 3/4 ratio are so close that it would be a waste of time to use both. So maybe its a bit of a change in programming with a small change in the internals to get the new tranny?
  4. Think of it as the replacement for the '06 Taurus. Its a HUGE improvement over that car (even if its only a slight improvement on the 500), I think thats what they're hoping people will see. btw, how do I make it so threads I reply to show up in my subscriptions ??
  5. The move might make us scratch our heads a little. But to the general population (not enthusiasts) its just the next gen Taurus. They'll likely have little to no clue that it shares anything with the 500 or even what the 500 was. And like others have said, it leaves the door open for a big rwd sedan with the 500 name embedded somehow (galaxy 500, maybe?). Or would it be better to keep the crown vic name? hmmm
  6. I think its doing well. It could use a low volume performance variat (svt?!) with either the 3.5 or the 2.3 turbo in the mazdas with a manual option and awd, performance tuned suspension, slightly sportier appearance.. just to draw some more people to the car. I don't know why everyone is saying its not a good car. How is it any lesser of a car than camry or accord?
  7. I hope they do. We need something to compete with corvette/vipers. (maybe right in the middle of those two price ranger, but performance to take them both down)
  8. ??? or the best engine in its class? (unless you mean mpg wise, but its still relatively efficient considering the weight/size of the vehicles its found in) There were rumors if hydraulic hybrid f150s, I'd think it would come out on the f150/expy before it made its way to the E150, if at all.
  9. I don't think anyone knows what the 500 is anyway
  10. I think the article said sales. But whats the point? Its just going to be sugar coated and fancied up for him anyway because they're going to know who he is and there will be cameras following him around. Is it just to help him connect with salespeople? Trying to learn what the customer looks for? Just a little confused as to the point.
  11. I think he'd be better off acting as a customer on both buying the vehicle and then trying to have service work done without the dealership knowing its him. Just him going up on his own without any cameras or anything and going through all the crap that we have to go through to try to get any type of warranty work done. (and then the 8 times you have to take it back because they don't do it right) The problem with him visiting with media attention is the dealers will want to look their best and make it seem like the best thing ever because they'll know who he is. He needs to go incognito and then report his findings, I think it would be pretty cool if he did that.
  12. NASCAR cars share nothing with the cars that are sold in the showrooms but their nameplate. I don't think anyone is running out to buy a Fusion because the NASCAR fusion won a race, it just doesn't work that way anymore. People aren't THAT dumb.
