  1. Many people love the underdog - I think it's a good move.
  2. Now that begs the question - did the Fusion win in 2006? I'll answer that myself: http://wardsauto.com/ar/interior_winners_a...nced/index.html The Fusion just isn't getting any love.
  3. The Fusion didn't even get nominated BAHAHAHAHALOL!!! The Fusion's interior is so great that it couldn't even get a nomination. Sad.
  4. http://sporttruck.com/featuredvehicles/che...r_Side_View.jpg OWNED. Now build it GM. BTW, the 5.3L gets 16/22 mpg in the 5500lb Tahoe.....the 3500lb Colorado should get much better.
  5. Ugly? It looks much better than the sport trac.
  6. Hmm, that engine gets 16/22 mpg in the 5500lb Tahoe. I really want to see what it'll get in a 3400-3500 Colorado.
  7. The V8 will likely be lighter and with 295hp/~330lb-ft, it'll make a sweet sport truck.
  8. The addition of GM's 5.3L V8 to the HUMMER H3 Alpha for 2008 has resulted in some trickle-down goodness for the SUV's pickup truck platform-mate, the Chevy Colorado. PickupTruck.com is reporting that the smaller Chevy truck will indeed receive the same infusion of V8 power in 2008. We've driven both the Silverado and the GMC Sierra with that engine, and we liked it a lot in the big trucks. Imagining it in the Colorado has grins spreading across our faces, as it will certainly add a good amount of pop, and with the 5.3's cylinder deactivation system, it should also be respectable at the pump, considering it'll have a lot less truck to move around than with the GMT900. The addition of the 295-horse V8 will catapult the Colorado to the top of the heap in the midsize pickup segment in terms of power, edging the new Dodge Dakota (290 hp), and putting it well beyond the Toyota Tacoma and Ford Ranger (numbers 1 & 2 respectively on the sales charts). GM's been teasing everyone with V8-powered small concept pickups for a while now, and though it won't officially confirm or deny the report (a spokesman only says, "stay tuned"), it sure looks like the General's finally decided to give us the real thing. Good. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/07/v...eup-expanding/
  9. Get back to GMI - you have a lot to learn. As pointed out, the Aura doesn't cost anymore and it's not an Astra. You are thinking Vectra, but even then, the Aura is on a different platform with a different interior. You should also know that the Aura isn't available with a I4 (the bulk of Fusion sales). The new Malibu will should be compared to the Fusion. Lastly, stop crying that a Ford product didn't win.
  10. Obviously. The point is - a great showing in the IQS can be totally negated by the VDS. When people look at these surveys to see which brands offer the best quality, which survey do you think they are going to look at....long term or initial quality? Which survey do you believe affects perception more? My money is on the VDS. Regardless, as I said before, the '07 IQS scores are VERY close together for most brands. It'll be interesting to see how things stack up in 2010 when they release the VDS for these vehicles. As for the Hyundai results you posted, I doubt VERY, VERY, VERY seriously that Hyundai will rank alongside Toyota and Honda in the VDS later this year. Heck, It'll eat my hat if they do!!!
  11. The rankings are so close - I'll need to see the long term survey to make any definitive statements about quality. Initial quality has been known to vary drastically from the long term survey. Does anyone remember Hyundai from a few years back? 2004 Initial quality: http://money.cnn.com/2004/04/28/pf/autos/powerqualitysurvey/ And then, here is the 2004 Vehicle dependability survey: Notice Hyundai in the bottom 6.
  12. GM pretty much dominated the industry list.
  13. As long as they don't lose $15B this year, they won't lose $5k per car.
  14. The iggy button is great. It's like I've sent the kids to their room and they're cursing me out behind my back LOL. :pig:
  15. Don't be a jackanapes. You may be the only person I've ever seen to discredit the role of the media in shaping perceptions. I'm putting you on the ignore list. :missing: Your childishness/flawed logic needs a week or two of cooling off. Later :cheerleader:
  16. Quoting him doesn't mean I'm going to read it. Maybe in a few weeks I'll come back to his steaming pile of dribble. As of now, neither of you are on the level of debate-worthiness.
  17. There are plenty of people on GMI that "defend" Ford vehicles and various other brands. I don't "defend" vehicles, I correct other people's mistakes/bias toward other vehicles.
  18. They don't need to. The words of the media penetrate car forums, non-automotive message forums, search engines (many if not most people are now researching on the web), newspapers, television programs, magazines, radio, etc. Many women obviously aren't "car guys", but if they don't do their own research, they're likely to consult with a male friend or family member who will get his information from the media (One of the 4 or 5 major car mags, TV, info posted on forums, newspaper, radio, etc.). Thus, a wave of positive attention by the media can trigger a reaction that makes its way around the internet and eventually to word-of-mouth and positive "buzz" on the street. Nobody said Toyota's success was totally media related, but now that domestic automakers are making vehicles that are as good or better - their perception still hasn't caught up. Positive reviews/news from the media is needed now more than ever. You're foolish if you believe otherwise. Consider yourself owned - again! You've derailed this thread enough, so I'm going to go ahead and put you on my ignore list. I might check back in a few weeks.
  19. Did you know where you are at? "The competition - sponsored by The GM Source." Regardless, stop crying - defending a GM vehicle doesn't equate to peeing in your cheerios. :blah:
  20. Magazines = media. Toyota = praised by media = great perception = billions in profit. Ford/GM = majority of vehicles slammed by the media/coming in behind Toyota/Honda = bad perception = billions in losses. Need I say more?
  21. When it comes to selling cars - you only have to convince the jury. A LOT of people (jury) read magazines and soak up every word.
