  1. I was proud to see a Raptor the other day on the freeway with an undercarriage totally caked in mud. It made my day. That guy gets it.
  2. Not all LX's were stripper models though. I'm talking about a stipper LX notch and not a loaded LX hatch which aside from the body kit, could be optioned up like a GT.
  3. Have you driven a Flex? If you have, how did it feel in comparison to one? I'm curious about the differentiation in the driving experience between these two.
  4. I might be wrong but isn't the Mustang 3V 4.6 aluminum while the Explorer one is cast iron? I know it's not a HUGE deal, but the lighter weight would be nice. I for one welcome the presence of Ecoboost 3.5s showing up in the yards.
  5. The brakes are falsies! lol. The green "caliper" is just a cover over the stock caliper. It's a big phoney ha ha
  6. D'oh! Sorry to hear about your accident! I actually like the Flex quite a bit more than the Explorer so far. It just seemed like it sits too low for an "SUV".
  7. I went to the dealer today to get some things on my Ranger checked out. (warranty!) While i was waiting I took a trot around the lot to check out the new cars and get an idea what they sticker for these days. As I hoofed around a bit, I noticed there was a new Explorer out there. At first I thought it was an Infiniti but I got closer and it became clear what it was. There were no window stickers on it or anything, so I assume it was a demo or training deal. Well, I saw the front, and it looked good. A bit big-faced but handsome overall. However, when I walked around it I was hit with the nagging realization. The profile in person really looked like a Freestyle to me. I never thought so in the pics, but damn. That totally threw me off and I did not like the profile. The rear of it was handsome as well, and unlike any Ford out there at the moment. So in short Pros - Handsome front - Handsome rear - Very nice interior from what I could see through the glass - Gauge cluster was pretty cool looking Cons - Did not like the profile - It sits pretty low. - Really looks like a CUV and not an SUV. Yeah, I know it is now, but it does NOT look "rugged and trucky" like an Explorer should. (Regardless of actual capability) Here are some crappy cell pics. I didn't bring a real camera with me. BTW, I got my first close up look at an MKT as well. Dear god it's HIDEOUS! On the plus side, the new MKX looks very nice in person. Oh, saw this dealer modifed Fiesta too. I thought "Hey, cool, they have aftermarket brakes for them already" Then I got a little closer. This was just terrible. I hope it does not catch on as a fad.
  8. I own an SN95 but I would totally buy a 2011 5.0 if I was looking for a new car right now. As far as worse resale, I'd pay a slight premium for a GTS versus the standard GT that I have right now. I've seen so few SN95s with crank windows that the rarity factor would make me want one more. I don't believe I was asking for used car prices either. 26K was just a toss out there. 28K? fine with me. The price seems fair. Thing of it as a base V6 with the GT drivetrain if that makes sense. I have nothing against offering people high optioned cars. More power to Ford for offering that. There is a small group of people that don't necessarily require all of the bells and whistles when ordering their car. Then again I hate the rapid spec packages too. I was looking at a SHO when they first came out and I hated that for some options that I wanted I HAD to get a sunroof and a heated steering wheel with it. I can't stand sunroofs and a heated wheel is useless here in CA. But if you want X you MUST order Y. BS. I might be in the minority, but If I bought a new Mustang GT, the ONLY options I would want are gears, and the Brembos. I don't need leather, Mach1000, SYNC, ambient lighting and many more of the niceties that come with the car. Ok, I KNOW I'm in the minority with that but if Ford can take the time and resources to make the Bullitt, why not something like an LX? Nevermind that the LX would just use off the shelf parts and wouldnt require unique pieces developed for it. Oh, and as for the body in white argument... Yeah sure that will work because I have a total desire to build a car from scratch with no warranty.
  9. I think it looks alright. We don't see a whole bunch of Subaru's around here though other than WRX's and other Imprezas. AWD isn't a huge selling point where it's dry most of the year 'round
  10. I've had 2 Rangers as well. my 2004 with a 3.0L OHV and a 5 speed manual trans and my 2009 with a 4.0L SOHC and an auto trans. They both get the same mileage!!!!!!!!! I average around 18-19.5mpg out of them and I've tracked them religiously as long as I've owned them. FWIW, my 94 Mustang GT with a 5 speed gets marginally better fuel economy than the Ranger if I drive it nice. (around 21mpg.... 17 if I'm meaner to it)
  11. My 68 Galaxie was a 390 2v too. Lots of torque but DAMN it started gasping for breath really fast.
  12. There were also the SN95 GTS models. 5.0L, 5 speed and not much else. Cloth interior, no spoiler, no fog lights, V6 seats and manual windows and locks. I'd love to find one some day. My favorite Fox body of all time are the stipper notchbacks. Price be damned. I'd totally take a hard, serious look at a new $26K Mustang "GTS" that has the V6 base interior, basic wheels, no spoiler, no fog lights, and no goodies like SYNC and whatnot (yeah they are nice but I don't NEED them). The only options I'd want would be the Brembos and either the 3.55 or 3.73 gears in the back. Hell, to keep costs and inventory down, only offer them in like 4 colors. Black, White, Red and Silver sound ok? Yeah me too.
  13. $1200 a year for your GT? I am 29, and when I had a perfect record (rear ended someone last year... don't be sleepy and drive, my fault) but even back then my 2009 Ranger was more than that! My 1994 Mustang GT is around $400 a year full coverage. Not bad but no 2011 5.0L either lol.
  14. I see them all over the place too. A camper style conversion would be awesome! Where is the Cabella's edition TC?
  15. fet·ish    /ˈfɛtɪʃ, ˈfitɪʃ/ Show Spelled[fet-ish, fee-tish] Show IPA –noun 2. any object, idea, etc., eliciting unquestioning reverence, respect, or devotion: to make a fetish of high grades. I fail to see the problem here. Well, yes there are other definitions as well, but this one is also valid.
  16. Sounds like a blast. I wish I had made it out there but oh well. Did they allow pics?
  17. So how'd it go you jerks.... i mean, you fine gentlemen?
  18. I like it but I have a steelie fetish. I hope it does well. Price will be a concern, but let's face it. With the CV gone and all three major offerings no doubt in the same range, what choice will any of the departments have? My Mustang on P71 steelies.
  19. I had a slot at 12. However, my stupid ass slept in today and I didn't wake up until 11am!! Dammit!!!! There is no way in hell I can shower, and get my ass from Norwalk to Fontana in less than an hour. I can't remember the last time I slept in so long for no reason either. Way to screw things up Steve. Good job. Yes, I also had the confirmation email too. I suck.
  20. Oh I thought it was funny. Not as "trucky" as Ford's ads, but still attention getting and good for a chuckle.
  21. An acquaintance of mine is slapping one of these into his 86 notchback Mustang. I am slightly jealous lol.
  22. I see the first (US) gen Prius in that ass end. Are we sure this isn't the real 2011 Mediocrity? lol
