  1. That shot was around 2:15 in the video. I would also think it was on the editing table shot. You don't see anything in the reflection as far as trees or whatnot, the seat belt lights are on yet both men are wearing their belts, and well, most noticeably, you don't hear the engine rev until the next scene. Even in a luxurious Avalon you should hear engine noise at WOT. If it was an electrical gremlin causing the tach to jump, you would expect the speedo to sweep too. I also have a hard time believing that the engine in that car would rev that fast in gear, let alone not upshift when gets within 500 rpm of redline like every other Toyota.
  2. No real negative about red other than it's common. White, black, and red are all common with these cars. Some other colors can go for more to the right buyer. Regatta Blue comes to mind and I think its awesome looking when either new or a very well kept original. Nothing on your car is really a negative perchance. Some of the items I mentioned would just make it more desireable. Us Californian's got MAF cars in '88 after all :D. All in all a very clean car and it looks very well taken care of. Not many of these things escaped the claws of an 18 year old with a heavy foot.
  3. I'd say $6500 at least around here. Low mileage, not modified, 5spd and a legit 5.0 are all a plus. The louvers, color, non MAF car (at least I assume it isn't unless it came from CA) the fact that it's a hatch and not GT interior are the biggest downsides to it. Louvers can be removed however and I would only leave them on if they are a Ford accessory and not another aftermarket piece. Great condition and a very nice car for sure. Were the 3.27s auto cars only? What's up with the fender emblems? Don't like bragging about the 5.0? lol. I thought that only the 89s got the pony dash emblem too. I guess not.
  4. You can get a reasonable one that might need some work (but a decent runner/driver) for that price. $4,500-6,000 is the sweet spot around here for a nice driver car that really shouldn't need anything but a new ass in the seat. If you cruise the ads around here you can get some NICE notchbacks for around $5,500. Rare or extremely low mile cars are about the only ones that break the $7K barrier. I'm picking up a 94 GT/5spd this weekend for $1,700 myself :D. EDIT - Here is a pretty clean looking one. I don't like red cars though but it's pretty nice and has low miles for the year. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/1602192261.html
  5. I like the car. It is a little funky, but it is funky in a way that it can be pulled off. Nothing to do with your post really but it's "Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right .... " unless of course, I'm missing a joke or something
  6. There's a Ford dealer down the street from work that has a Mustang (05-09), Challenger, and Camaro on their used car lot right now lined up next to each other. It's kind of cool looking to see them all there.
  7. I have an issue of Hot Rod from 1969 that talked about that differential a bit and it's then use in the upcoming Cougar Eliminator. It of course, was never put into production on any Ford passenger car, but the two speed rear ends were used in some 9 inch housings in motorhomes and stuff. It was known as the "hone-o-drive". Here's a thread on the Cougar forums about it. http://www.mercurycougar.net/forums/showthread.php?t=26940&highlight=speed+rear+end
  8. Yeah I agree. The Genesis has the same 'family' look to the lower opening. I don't think it looks much like the MKZ opening very much at all besides the fact that they are pretty full width and connect with the fog lamps. Both are rat ass boring. Neither should be driven while driving due to the possibility of unintended sleep.
  9. I like it all except for that TERRIBLE giant CHROME third bar on the grille. YUCK! The photoshopped version above looks so much better. If I bought one, the first thing I would do would paint that lower bar body color. Its aweful in chrome. RMC - Did you have a "Flash of Genius" when you designed that script?
  10. What engineer is only making $15 an hour? That's roughly $30K a year. Seriously? Techs take home less than half of that $75/hr gross.
  11. It'll be the C88 in China. I think the name is stupid even if the car turns out to be "da bomb" the name just "blows away" any prospect of want.
  12. I've been seeing more Taurus' on the roads too. I saw 2 yesterday and 2 more over the weekend. It took a while to even see my first one on the road, but I'm slowly starting to see more. Flex's aren't a rare sight out here.
  13. The grille looks great on there. The stripe too! I was growing weary of the lower door ones. EDIT - I do think the Camaro exhaust sounds the best. The Mustang at least had a little bit of burble and cackle out of it though. The Challenger just sounded like a rental car.
  14. Just saw that on the news. It sounds like they are pissing off a ton of people. I still don't think the damage will be too long term, but it is sure interesting to see it unfold.
  15. I thought the Ranger was dead. Is Ford dicking with us or is this gonna be global except for the US?
  16. It's either Howey Long, or a firey death. Hmm... umm... Look, just give me a minute ok?
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLEuWEvH5GI more of the MHLMMLMHLHM thread material but still..
  18. Yes, we can give them a great new deal on a brand new Vibe... wait....
  19. http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/27/report-toyota-to-take-pedal-recall-global/ Might go global. This is gonna cost some jobs......
  20. They might as well just chuck them off of a cliff. 6 units? Psshh... that's nothing. Why risk it for what? $25K in profit from those sales?
  21. gearing will make up for it. 3.73s in the track pack and probably a pretty short 1st will get this thing off of the line rather sportingly.
  22. Vehicle Make / Model: Model Year(s): PONTIAC / VIBE 2009-2010 Manufacturer: GENERAL MOTORS CORP. Mfr's Report Date: JAN 21, 2010 NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 10V018000 N/A NHTSA Action Number: N/A Component: POWER TRAIN:CLUTCH ASSEMBLY:PEDAL/LINKAGE Potential Number of Units Affected: Summary: GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING MODEL YEAR 2009-2010 PONTIAC VIBE. Consequence: THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY BECOME HARD TO DEPRESS, SLOW TO RETURN TO IDLE, OR, IN THE WORST CASE, MECHANICALLY STUCK IN A PARTIALLY DEPRESSED POSITION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. Remedy: GENERAL MOTORS HAS NOT YET PROVIDED A REMEDY PLAN OR AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT PONTIAC AT 1-800-620-7668 OR AT THE OWNER CENTER AT WWW.GMOWNERCENTER.COM
