  1. Just thought I would post this Ford Escape 4.5 stars from User Reviews on Yahoo Auto http://autos.yahoo.com/ford_escape-reviews_user/ Honda CRV 3.5 stars http://autos.yahoo.com/honda_cr_v-reviews_user/ Granted the CRV has a lot more reviews than the Escape, but the Escape has only been out for a short time. I think a lot of people just buy Honda or Toyota without looking at the market or even the vehicle and assume that because it is Japanese it is good quality/value... and the opposite with Ford, with the assumption of poor quality.
  2. I will have to look into the sales figures. But from the user reviews and forums that I have been trolling, A lot of people are disappointed with the direction the CR-V has taken. Also, I would like to add that I really didn't even want to consider the Escape, because I had 2 Ford vehicles previously and was hoping to move to a different brand. So I looked at a LOT of small SUVs and for the money, the Escape was the best package - Reliability, Comfort and Styling. Ford owns the SUV and truck market, and the Escape is a good example of why they do.
  3. I have heard the opposite, that the CR-V has been cheaped down on the interior this year, along with it's awful redesign. Looks like they are turning it into a station wagon. I would be surprised if it was the top selling compact SUV this year. Public reaction to it has been negative at best.
  4. I really don't mind the older drivetrain. The way I see it, that drivetrain is tried and true. It has been running for 6 years in the Escapes, with above average reliability. I will take reliability over power any day. And I gave one of these a test drive, and it wasn't lacking at all. I do mostly city driving and some weekend highway driving. So the power is more than enough for what I need.
  5. Just out of curiousity. What other compact SUV's are you considering?
  6. I found a nice pic of the 08 Escape in Kiwi Green
  7. Those numbers seem a little low... My window sticker says 22 City, 31 Highway for an 08 AWD V6 Has Canada not changed it's regulations to the new standard?
  8. Does anybody know any good places to find aftermarket accessories for the 2008 Escape? I know it is pretty new and all, but if anybody knows any info let me know
  9. I agree, the Sirius option is a nice add-on. Very clean and well integrated. I looked at a Jeep Patriot, and you were unable to get a stereo with a combination of an Aux-in and a multi-line text display (which is very nice to have for stations/song titles) My Escape is on order, so I will be waiting a while longer, but I was very impressed with the ride... and I think I looked at almost every small SUV on the market!
  10. Yeah I am surprised too. That is good. Most people like them when they see them in person. They look good.
  11. Seems like a lot of people really don't like the look of these... I think they look great. In fact I just bought one! haha They look like an SUV, which is great, because that is what they are. The same people who don't like the Escapes probably love the CRV's. Man I think those are ugly!
  12. Damn! The new Focus is nice looking!
  13. Here's one... Have you seen the CR-V's or Rav4's? Ugggggly glorified station wagons. They are trying way too hard to be cute. Everybody seems to be upset that Ford hasn't gone more European or Japanese, but when you see how good the new Escape looks in person, you will be glad they haven't turned into a vehicle for Barbie, and kept it as an SUV. It does seem that the new Escape is getting beaten up in the reviews though.... It seems strange. Barring cost the decision for me came down to the Escape, Nissan X-Trail and Suzuki Grand Vitara. I was concerned about reliability, and if anything this drivetrain (and the entire Escape) is reliable, so it won out in the end. But I had no interest in the Cute-utes at all... get sick of seeing all of those driving around the city.
