  1. ok so now back to the Cougar, what are we going to do about this? their is strengh in numbers, if anything I would love to hear an offcial word from ford on the cougar, they gave a statement for the thunderbird I just want the same some sort of hope.

A triple post, interesting. I guess I've had a quadruple post before though.

Anyways, what Thunderbird announcement are you referring to?

  2. i think they will release the payload and towing ratings as well as the 5.4L specs and the the future engine releases......maybe if we are lucky since it looks like everybody has their trucks at the hp/tq #'s they will be at for at least 3 years, Ford will be comfortable releasing the 6.2L Boss specs instead of just saying that it is coming

maybe improved brakes on certain models, i wish i could hope for a surprise but we all now this is Ford and it is probably going to be what we already expected.....i hope im wrong

I'd guess you're pretty close to being right in your assumptions.

  3. Well,

They ride and handle almost identical and both have about the same interior noise. I do like the rear lights in the MKX a little better, but I think the Grill in the MKX is horrable and ruins it's otherwise good looks. You can also get a little better stereo in the MKX, but I honestly do not think that it really sound all that much better than the premium system in the Edge. The MKX has a little nicer interior and the cooled seats are a nice option...

Basically you just have to drive both and ask yourself if the MKX it really $8-$10 Grand better than the Edge? In my opinion it is not...

I should note that I have a 2007 Edge, but I did drive a MKX for a day as a loaner. I could not tell any significant difference in the ride, Sound, or handling. I would recomend driving them back to back....

    Thanks for your input.

  4. Wow. Very mature...

You don't like arguments that are Euro Focus vs US Focus and Panthers...and yet YOU go and create ANOTHER thread FOR EACH. retard.gif

No, he doesn't like Euro Focus vs US Focus arguments on threads that are supposed to be about the Verve. And he doesn't like Panther arguments on threads that are about something else. If there is a thread devoted to those topics, he could care less, but when topics veer from their original meanings, that's when he doesn't like it.

  5. I would imagine that the most important thing for the "plywood test" is that it fits between the wheel wells and I suspect it does. Probably where there is intrusion is inside up near the bed walls. Its probably similar in how a flairside (stepside) truck has a considerably narrow box, but still retains the same width from wheel well to wheel well. Of course, a tool box is going to do the same thing.

The Rambox is a good idea I think. It won't be for everyone, but some will definitely appreciate it. Plus, depending on the amount of storage capacity on both sides, it may do away with the necessity for some to buy a tool box behind the cab.

That's where it appeared to take away from bed space (around the wheel wells), not the rest of the bed.

  6. yeah the superduty pictured is a good looking truck, its younger siblings were beaten to death with the ugly stick however. perhaps that will curtail the stealing problem?

seems like the story was blaming the heavy duty truck for being a popular item for thieves? how about shooting the smugglers? that would work much better than blaming the truck.

I wasn't aware that the super duties didn't have the chipped keys. considering a Lariat Powerstroke can reach $60k that seems pretty stupid of ford's part, when a $21K Grand Marquis has it.

It seems like Ford is blamed for everything these days.

I'd laugh if that guy that switch to Chevy because of this incident had his Chevy stolen as well.

  7. Not for another 2 years as mid 2010 is the dead line for all pre July 2008 models to comply with Euro IV.

Orion Falocn will be ushered in just before the cut off to ensure the I-6 continues until July 2010.

FoA are looking at the 3.7 DI and Ecoboost 35 after that time.

By not modifying the I-6 (with an alloy block) to meet the regs, Ford will save $2,000/engine.

That is a compelling argument and, 300 of the 600 employees will be shifted from Geelong Engine

across to the Stamping plant as part of C2 Focus program.

So the new Falcon will still get the I6? I thought the new Falcon was to get the 3.5 from launch. Interesting....

  8. I know alot of people are bitching about Ford taking so long for a B-car to come out, but would you rather see them throw something in the market like the EcoSport or let them do something right like Verve that will blow the doors off any of the other B-cars looks wise?

I'd rather have them have a competitive entry to the market. Some may think it would've been better to rush a product here to establish a customer base. In my thinking, if that product is not up to snuff and is not at least equal with the competition, whatever customers you did gain would go to another brand for their next purchase, so you'd be starting from scratch anyways. With a competitive entry, Ford will not only establish a customer base for the current times, they will establish a customer base that extends into the future that will continue to buy that good quality Ford product.

  9. speaking from a customer viewpoint, Lincoln isn't always user friendly. when I recently asked about a 08 Mark LT I was looking at online. I called the L/M dealer to simply ask what three optional packages consisted of. (the website does not explain them at all)

I assume they have ordering guides, and perhaps a few in stock, but in 20 minutes on the phone, nobody on that end had any idea what the packages consisted of.

    2008 Lincoln Mark LT - Mark LT 4x4 6.5

    Class IV Trailer Tow

    Deluxe Power Package $1,195.00

    Elite Package $4,695.00

    35.7 Gallon Fuel Tank $95.00

SIRIUS® Satellite Radio Package (NA in Alaska and Hawaii)

All Weather Floor Mats– Color Keyed, Front and Rear $75.00

    Leather-Trimmed Captain's Chairs with 60/40 2nd Row

    Technology Package $2,210.00

    Deluxe Power Package $1,195.00

    Elite Package $4,695.00

I suppose there are folks that are willing to plop down $4700 on an unknown option package, but I'm not one of them.

    http://www.lincoln.com/marklt/models.asp

    Go over to "Packages" tab

Deluxe Power Package includes: (is included in Elite package)

    -Power Moonroof

    -Power adjustable pedals

-Power folding, heated, electrochromic mirrors featuring chrome mirror caps, memory and security lamps

    -Power, rear-sliding window

-Not available with overhead rail system

    -Not available with rear defrost

-When Monochrome Appearance Package is ordered, exterior mirrors will have body-color mirror caps

    Elite Package includes:

    -Chrome plated running boards

    -Deluxe Power Package

    -Navigation system

    -Power moonroof

    -Reverse Sensing System

    -Reverse Camera System (Mirror-based)

    -Trailer Tow Package

    -Limited Slip Differential

--Not available with: Rear defrost or Monochrome Appearance Package

Technology package wasn't listed, but I'd assume it'd include things like Nav system, reverse camera, reverse sensors, maybe a moonroof, etc.

  10. I would have to disagree.

Fleet managers care. Which is why they like to order V6s.

Independent construction contractors also feel the hit with fuel prices.

First one to bring a reasonably priced 30mpg pickup to the market will clean up.

May I add one thing to your statement?

Although what I added may not be true, depends on the customer, some may be willing to pay more than others.

  11. All those European license tags are hideous...really doesn't help vehicles much. Lets at least be thankful here in the US we have choices when it comes to tags.

I agree. Although some Euro tags can look good on the front of vehicles. Our tags dont look good on the front of any of our vehicles, IMO. I'm glad I live in a state where front plates aren't required.
