  1. Seems the manual transmission model gets 31MPG highway, and the auto gets 30MPG highway. At least according to Edmunds.com Edmunds.com
  2. 2009 Focus SES Coupe 5spd My wife drives it mostly as her commute to work is 70 miles/day. She averages 32 according to the trip computer. Mostly driving on rural roads.
  3. Order Acceptance: 07/12/10 Production Startup: 11/01/10 Dates are estimate and subject to change...
  4. My mom had a 89 GL 4 cyl auto that was totalled, and bought a new 91 LX V6 5spd to replace it. I LOVED that car. Black with red interior, factory pop-up sunroof. It was the car I took my driver's test in the day I turned 16. She sold it in 2001 with 230k on it to a 16 year old kid who didn't know how to drive stick. He had it at least 2 years after. In HS my friend's mom had a 93 Dodge Shadow with the 3.0L and also manual. We'd race. I'd win! Close though! If I saw a low mileage black 97 GTS 5spd I would love to have that car. IMO, they still look great today if taken care of. Too bad they were always made fun of for the name...
  5. On the Escapes, does it look like the FL-820S could fit? Without inspection, my theory is the new 240HP 3.0L needs the new FL-500s. The 220HP and 200HP 3.0L always used the FL-820S, but for some reason (or mistake) the 09 Fusion owners manual lists the 500s. Either it doesn't really matter (since the car came from the factory with a plain wrapper 820s and the owners manual lists a 500s) or it is a mistake. As an engineer I'd guess it doesn't matter. Also, as ane extra bit of info, all aftermarket oil filter manufacturers list the same oil filter for the Fusion from 06-09, they are not breaking out the 09 seperately.
  6. olmster, Which filter did you end up using? The FL-500S? For awhile there I was thinking I was the only one with this problem that uses the internet!
  7. The owners manual in my gf's 09 V6 Fusion lists a new oil filter compared to 08. 2009 owners manual lists FL-500S 2008 owners manual lists FL-820S I noticed this as I was completing the first oil change. The oil filter that came on the car from the factory looks like the FL-820S, but is a plain wrapper with no markings on it. The Ford dealer recommends the FL-820S. I think the owners manual has an error in it. The diameter of the FL-500s is significantly smaller the the FL-820S. Anyone experiance this problem or have a solution to it?
  8. I strongely disagree! As a motorcycle driver, they need all the visability they can get. If all cars had DRL's, motorcycles would blend in. Plus, like most GM vehicles, one would be burned out frequently.
  9. My first Ford was a Ranger as well. A 1994 regular cab short bed, 4x4 with the 4.0L and 5spd. I got it a month before I turned 17 and I still have it today (I'm 26). That Ranger is the reason I prefer Ford vehicles because of its reliablitly and durability. It's been through mud fields in WI, winters in Upper Michigan, water over 2' deep, speeds over 100mph. I've even jumped it a few times. I've always thought it was the perfect vehicle to be very good at everything (handling, ride, performance, MPG, off road, towing) for a single guy. So far, it has gotten me through high school, college, and the start of my career. Only major problems were a transmission failure around 100k and I've broken two rear driveshafts (3.27 gears, 31" tires and burnouts take there toll after awhile). 2.5 years ago I got a 93 F150 for a winter daily driver, to keep the salt off my Ranger. Today it's sitting in my garage next to my 07 Mustang GT and gf's 04 Mazda 6...though only until winter is over. I don't know if I'll ever sell it, but I hope your (new to you) Ranger can bring the same kind of memories mine has!!
