  1. Everything you said is true about GM, Chrysler, GMAC, and Cerewhatever, but GM will go under if it does not file bankruptcy. It is burning about one to 1.5 billion dollars a month or 18 billion dollars a year. Within 1 year and a half, it will burn all the money it has. No wonder it is cutting costs by 10 to 15 billion. It doesn't matter if GM can cut its costs by 10 or 20 billion if it can not produce viable small vehicles at a profit. That's what Ford's Mulally is saying about doing. Mulally not only wants Ford to cut expenses, but he wants Ford to produce small viable automobiles. Right now, Ford is at a mayham, its revenue declined 25% this quarter over the 2007 quarter, and this is why White collar workforce is having an involuntary layoffs. After this, Ford still needs another 10 to 15% involuntary layoffs to match revenues with expenses.
  2. Indeed, it would be nice if Volvo engineers are more involved with Ford product planning.
  3. I have to disagree with you about this. Volvo turnaround is around the corner, and it does not require a lot of money to fix because Volvo's line up are very similar to Ford's and Mazda's. It's coming out with some decent new autos pretty soon, and I think it's going to break even this year (cash wise, in other words, it won't burn cash). Pardon me, but I am wondering if mlhm5 & TStag is related; can someone find out? They both love European brands among other things, specially they both refer to VW quite a bit. Hopefully, TStag is not associated with Mark Fields because he is going to get canned for making negative statements about the current CEO. Incidentally, Mark Fields is very well liked by Bill Ford.
  4. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/gm-admits...ments/#comments Chapter 11 coming? Do you think if it files chapter 11, it's going to help Ford? Most likely not.
  5. I'm not responding to an elevator box who was born cojoined with critic some time ago. Better things to do than that.
  6. Actually you are the ignorant garbage leftover from soon to be big 3 forum, that's what big 3 is good about, copy and paste invention from the Japanese, Swedish, German, and the list goes and on and on. Have some pride asphalt. i.e. Stagflation, copy from one of my messages, and paste as if its your own. Ignorant bastardo
  7. Great post. Indeed that's what Ford should be doing, but the economic horizon in Europe and Asia are similar or following the US economic Crisis. So my message is we are way too late in this game, so let's keep some dry powder, and do the exapansion in the next boom, and time it correctly. If we expand now when economic situation will deteriorate, then we will just write off more fixed assets down the road. Ford made money in Europe and South America. In both continents, economics are not that great, and recession coming. However, Ford motor has a history of buying high, and selling low. So I'm sure it will do it, and that will be the end of it. Faces In The News Soros: Europe Is Not Safe Lionel Laurent, 05.21.08, 10:30 PM ET LONDON - Tumbling home prices, flagging consumer sentiment, banking jitters and inflationary pressures--the British economy has it all, and billionaire investor George Soros believes it's a recipe for recession. While discussing his latest book at the London School of Economics, where Soros studied under Karl Popper, the Hungarian-born billionaire said Wednesday that Britain faced more or less the same problems as the United States. He compared the Bank of England's struggle with the plot of a "Greek tragedy," with the central bank caught between high inflation and low growth. But not even the eurozone is safe, argued Soros, given that the 15-nation economic bloc suffers from structural differences between its member states. "There will be serious, serious tensions," said Soros. Brazil to Raise Rates More Than Forecast, Itau Says (Update3) By Andre Soliani and Fabiola Moura May 20 (Bloomberg) -- Brazil's central bank President Henrique Meirelles may raise the benchmark interest rate more than previously forecast as the outlook for inflation in Latin America's biggest economy worsens, Banco Itau Holding Financeira SA said. Argentine economy minister fired amid spiralling inflation Argentine President Cristina Kirchner has sacked her economy minister, amid spiralling inflation and her government’s bitter conflict with armers over a tax hike on soybean exports. Martin Lousteau, 36, is to be replaced Friday by Carlos Fernandez, the head of Argentina’s tax collection agency, the state news agency said. "The president asked Lousteau for his resignation because of differences on how to carry out her economic policy," a government official told AFP early Friday.
  8. you suck, copy and paste elevator boy, add something new, original, go with the flow what have you added. Is your life that boring? ughh let me go and puke and come back later
  9. That's why GM is called "Gimmick Motors"
  10. Relax my boy, before you have a heart attack worse a stroke at your young age rather at your child like behavior age.
  11. Elevator boy,j-150, boy who doesn't have any originality and personality and any self esteem why don't you boy get a life; everyone here knows that you are the real loser for badgering me. Yea, you think all these people are your pals, but sooner or later, they will figure out that you are a real loser, and of course, you do it too, but that's why you badger other people because you want to cover your stupidity. Which is cool with me, more losers and stupid people like you make making a living easier. By Lack of originality what I mean is taking my login name and inserting phrases that I never wrote. That kind of stupidest stuff I have only seen here, and hopefully Detroit is not full of people like you, and if so, no wonder, that explains everything about US automotive industry - lack of genuine stuff, originality, and lack of professionalism and work ethics. I rest my case. Chao.
  12. To J-150 loser, this thread is about something other than explorers and expeditions, there is a place for everything, so why don't you take it back to the thread it really belongs, and I will respond accordingly. People with really low self esteem come up with stuff like this. Instead of discussing topics on hand, he/she/it brings topic from some other part.
  13. Indeed, agree with you 100% except the portion about don't panic and don't despair. I DO NOT, and I never worry. This forum is about posting, so I am just posting for posting sake. Of course these chicken littles are first graders who do not grasp anything yet, and will never grasp anything in the future either. I Knew that this market was going to collapse in late eighties, this recession is going to be a prolonged one; actually we are at the beginning of a stagflation - inflation and low economic growth. There are way too many players, and way too many players are going to get in to the automobile scene. It all comes down to supply and demand, way too much supply and a large decrease in demand. Why do you want to go into this kind of business? I wouldn't. However, Ford great grand children had no idea of what was going on and that's why we' re all converged here. Ford was never a product company except with its lucky Mustangs which Iacocca came up with a Chrysler guy. Ford Motor was a PROCESS company meaning it revolutionized the way to make mass produced automobiles, and it should have put more attention to it, and further develop its JIT process (back then it was called hand to mouth, developed by Ford and Chevrolet). However, it got side tracked who wouldn't, but the end is near, but you don't know it until it's over.
