  1. Like the rumor we heard last night about going to one shift. We know that this was started by Nick's guys. Why?Then they could say that Nick saved us by stopping the company from taking off a shift that they were not taking off in the first place,We all ain't fools like you think.
  2. Agree with you.It appears that some of the posters are just trying to create mischief by making inaccurate statements.I will not trust any future statements from these individuals.
  3. Talked to many different people ,mostly old timers. They say most of your statement is inaccurate. This is what they said to me.Donovan left office in2002[June]The Escape was announced at the start of May.The Villager/Quest was still in production when Donovan left. They said that Ken Kruse was chairman when they stopped production of the Villager/Quest'.They then retooled to build the previously announced Escape.Matter of fact most of them gave Donovan the credit for the Escape being put into o.h.a.p.Now this is where it gets funny I am told that Nick Gallogly was the p;ant chairman when the Escape was removed from o.h.a.p.I have cross checked all of this with different people who all agree as to the accuracy of what i have written.Iintend to try and check the archives of the local papers and the vanguard to further verify the accuracy of the different statements and will report back with what I find out.I will of course be checking about the T/Bird.The Escape one confuses me but I will see what I can find out.
  4. With 23years you probably should be able to name the units that the other ones lost.Would appreciate you identifying the units the others lost just for future reference.Thanks.
  5. It would be helpful if someone would identify what unit the above named individuals lost and when they lost the unit.
  6. Told by a supplier that he was hearing that the product for Ohio Assembly was coming from Mexico.Supposed to be bigger than Econoline.
  7. A letter was put out in our plant [Ohio Assembly]recently which said that the Ohio Assembly chairman had told the company that he did not want the Transit in his plant as they would not be producing enough units to make it worth while.Go figure. So who knows K.C.P.may just get it.
  8. Isn't this how you normally settle grievances in Detroit?
  9. Write a letter to the judge.Judge's tend to take a dim view of people who try to circumvent court orders. You may be able to go on the internet and have your questionanswered by an attorney. With the amount of money involved some attorney may take your case on a contingency basis.I believe that you can download forms which allow you to file in court yourself.I would not necessarily recommend this route buy what have you to lose?
  10. We know from experience that the company will do or cover up anything in order to protect the cozy relationship with the union. This applies not only to Ford but to any of the Detroit auto companies. It is very clear that the mouthpieces for the union will continue to stonewall [it is difficult to admit to one's own complicity]But i'm sure the truth will win out even if it takes the efforts of a third party to dig it out.
  11. Level, you ask good questions, fact of the matter we have asked ourselves the same questions. Why don;t you address your questions to the Ford motor company and/or the U.A.W.Ford is the party who took the WRITTEN statements from those workers who were charged the money. No one is going to get a court order as I am sure they want to keep a lid on this as much as possible. As for "dividedwebeg"I thought that "Virgil"outlined the facts.Pointing out that a union by its actions is condoning a form of racketeering is surely a necessary post ,although I would agree that the union would not consider it constructive.
  12. Thanks Cap.Saved me from correcting this pathetic creature. As for the original story ,we all here at OHAP are aware of it.We did not know about the settlement.I had heard that there was a meeting held to discuss the grievance.I find it hard to believe that Ford or the UAW would allow themselves to get caught up in this.I did hear that plant funds were involved in the settlement so maybe the higher ups were not initially aware about the settlement.Either way it will be interesting to see if there is any reaction from the powers that are as this could open a real can of worms, both legal and otherways.
  13. our chairman{local2000},who is also president of sub2 council, told the membership about how the sub council had warned the iue that there was to be no more concessionary contracts brought back to the membership.I understand that when a motion was put on the floor of a membership meeting to"oppose any agreement which had an arbitration clause in it that he refused to support the motion. The motion did pass I am told despite his unwillingness to support it.
  14. As a matter of intrest,How large is the membership of local 1514?
  15. I have to agree with Spring on this.Having read the case{case#1514]it would appear to me that the review board are more concerned in protecting the status quo than in rendering a common sense opinion.I believe or though that the objective of having a review board was to take the politics out of the decisions, yet,by their own statements political decisions are an accepted fact.In my opinion this admission enforces Spring's position. There is no question that there is a widening gulf developing between the rank and file and the leadership and that's a pity.I do not blame the people at the top who are making the decisions or taking the actions that we disagree with rather I blame those who helped put them in the position in the first place.Yes ourselves! We did not do our jobs when we elected them to office or elected the delegates who elected them to office. We for the most part at the plant level tend to elect people to positions based more on the "good ole boy"syndrome rather than talk to them and find out what their real positions and capabilities are.So when we point a finger remember the three fingers that are pointing back at us.You will not change the system overnight but in order to start we need to start with ourselves and how we elect our representatives.Yes the quality of our representation has digressed over the years but we can only blame ourselves.
  16. Let them go ahead. What this tells me is that they are finished with the concession bullshit. And as they they do this, they just provide us with ammunition for OUR demands in the next round of contract negotiations. They need to be reminded that what goes around comes around.

  18. Longball, before you start spouting about issues of which you obviously have little knowledge I would suggest that you do a little investigating first. You will discover that most medical schools have LIMITS on their admission numbers. We do not have to lower the standards, we need to increase the number of openings available to the candidates. We can still maintain the standard for admission. The medical profession is very controlled internally. It is sad to see so much garbage and out and out mis-information being spewed about something {health reform}which has the potential to be beneficial to so many.I would never want the party{or its adherents}which OPPOSED social security, medicare etc. to be my basis of reference when it comes to arguing in regards to an issue which is beneficial to the vast majority of the citizens.
  19. The person with the 8yrs. experience is probably the better tradesman. The u.a.w. journeyman card isn't worth the paper it's printed on.I have had it proven to me that you could get a journeyman's card without spending a lot of time in the trade. If you hold a trade classification for 8or more years and have spent the eight years in union office shazam, you can apply for and receive a card.We all know how that works.
  20. Spring in talking to your Dad,he said that Paul Schrade was the regional director in region6.The Boeing plant was one of the plants in his region.Region 6 was the far west.He also said, that, then President Woodcock and others in Detroit worked against Schrade in his re-election bid.
  21. Prior to the voting on the Canadian and U.S. agreement modifications there was app. a twenty five dollar differential between the two groups with the Canadians being the more costly. What is the difference now?I would wager that there is still a greater or higher cost differential now with the Canadians still being the more costly. For the record they are still closing the St. Thomas assembly plant. My question then is to why you would believe that work would transfer from the U.S to Canada?Sour grapes maybe?
  22. QUESTION!What if it wasn't Ford who wanted the no strike provision clause that is in this agreement. What if it was our own leadership who wanted it in the agreement in order to protect their concept of "pattern bargaining".WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT ,WHY WOULD IT BE A PROBLEM TO FORD?Remember while we have had the ability to use it we have not done so for over thirty years.Ford already told us that they were o.k.Ford know that we are not stupid and that we will not jeopardize them or ourselves.I believe that our own leadership are being less than honest with us!Just some food for thought!
