  1. Checked it out, ford is currently deciding if whether to make updates free or include them with the NAV updates for a fee. They have not decided, I was not able to obtain any information about who is deciding.
  2. Yeah: I saw that. There is nothing on the Navteq website that says the gracenote database will be on the updates either. Mental brakedown, I think We've all been dupped.
  3. Hey All: Does anyone remember who makes the NAV unit for the 2009 Escape? I used to know but can't remember. Thanks -paul
  4. Does anyone have any information regarding Gracenote updates? I found plenty of updates around the net, but they are for other systems like MyGig. I'm not sure they are compatible. Anyway I'm looking for a gracenote update for 2009 ford escape NAV system, BTW is there a name for the system. MyGig is the Jeep system.
  5. All: Some information regarding the missing time, I spoke to the tech at the shop about it, he said that there is something is setup that the Tech can set to make the tinme show up. However he would not share with me how to do it. There is a setup menu hidden within the NAV unit but how to activate it escapes me.
  6. I called Ford to get an update on my case. The person said that thier system can't read the case information I had left previously. I was going to get to managment next, but I have my job to do, so I havn't yet. Sorry!
  7. Just wondering if you have performed a Master reset? I think that what its called? It might be called a factory reset. This might jump you out of the problems, your having.
  8. Hi There: How do you mean unstable? This system is called Microsoft Auto, there is a lot of information on it, on the net. It is running on Windows CE 6.0. I would a, make sure the USB stick is good, if you have a net cruzer stick, delete the security software on it. Thats all I can suggest or report this back at your dealer, they should be able to fix it. I myself am looking for a service manual.
  9. Hi There: I forgot to ask, on the left hand side there should be a display of what mode your in using the color blue. So, if your listening to FM you should see the FM text in the display on the left just by the thermostate reading which should be in White. -paul
  10. So when the radio or media player is on, your display in the center of the center console is gone, It does not appear in the upper right of the display? Here is a test, do you own a cell phone with bluetooth? If so, pair it up and make a call, over where the clock is suppose to be, there should be a bluetooth icon and a phone icon when making a call. Are those there?
  11. I wrote FORD, they couldn't get me any info on the update either, so I must find a dealer to look into this furthure, thanks for the update!!
  12. Hi There: Thanks for writing back and thanks for the info. Do you know if the TBS 08-25-3 update is hardware or software? I have not upgraded sync yet as time does not allow for it yet, Can you tell me if this issue has been corrected with the 1.2 update? This issue is when you have the CD active when you shutoff the car, when you restart it, the date and time get stuck in the center of the display with an active clock at the upper right? I should contact Ford again and see what they have found. -paul
  13. Hi There: I was just wondering if you had a chance to do this?
  14. Well you know, nobody wants to shut thier car off while being in drive. It just happens and if there are no safe guards for stopping in such a situation, thats a real problem. I think anyway.
  15. Thanks for your comments, I can tell you my car was never preps, I got it with grease and oil sumges all over the car, I was not sure if there is a prep procedure, but I can tell you it was never done. So if there is a calibration adjustment, it was never done. I suppose I can call a different dealer and see if there is a prep procedure to follow...
  16. With this electronic braking, there is NO stopping with the engine off, I understand what you mean in a normal, say conventinal brake system, but in the escape when the engine is off, you could push the pedal down as far as you can as there is no stopping, not even a slow down, its like no brakes what so ever.
  17. I get the electronic brake situation, I get the next thing to test is, if the engine is off/ fails with the key ON, then is there brakes, my guess would be yes. But as a practical, free rolling is probably a bad thing without brakes.
  18. Hey Everyone: Something weird happen to me today and I have to say that normally I would have never done this, but I'm of the forgetful persuasion and therefore I did it three times in a row. Safety has always been number one, but I always want to be correct so I ask you fellow Escape and Mariner and not to forget those Tribute owners to try an experiment. Mind you this experiment may wind you up in a wreck, so please decide carefully. Symptom: No brakes when vehicle is turned off and transmission is in drive. Condition 1) I had to get something at a store, the place I parked had a steady, but not steep incline. It was dark, and therefore, I become stupid and turned the car off, while parked, but leaving the transmission in drive. First thing I noticed that I could not get the key out of the ignition, then I notice I'm rolling backwards with the slope, I pressed the brake petal, it moved but no stopping. I panicked and noticed the shifter in drive, so I put it into park, the car stopped. Since the car was just rolling slow, I don't think I did any damage, anyway, I hope not to. Condition 2) Test: At home I have a considerable slope, so I placed my car at the bottom end, kept the brake on, turned off the car, while in drive, the car did not roll. I then released the brake pedal and the car began to roll, I then pressed the brake again and the car still rolled, this time, I used my emergency brake to stop the car. Condition 3) I did it again, left the car in drive at the garage and turned it off. Since this area is flat, the car did not roll. Put it in park and everything is fine. Oh yeah, my wife reminded me that I used to drive stick for about 16 years or longer, actually this is my first automatic, I'm in my forties. Anyway, if you wish to verify my findings, have at it. I need to decide if this is a real problem with the fly by wire brakes system or just and issue with my car. Should it be reported to FORD or checked out. Any suggestions would be appreciated: Serious suggestions Thanks -paul
  19. Hey there; Got it right off the website:800-392-3673
  20. Hi There, thanks for message back,Yes it can be irritating but remember this is only a thing, things can be over come. I spoke to FORD today, the guys are really pleasent to talk to there. As far as I know, I'm the only one that has called FORD to let them know of the issue. Really all you guys should call, its not a long wait, I called at lunch. Basically, you call the main number and enter the prompts 1) for English, 3) Nav/Sync 2) Nav. Explain your case as I did and if more people call, the faster it will get looked at, I believe. It will get better attention if more people call in with the same issue. The call will go faster if you register at the http://www.syncmyride.com site. The gentleman asked me my last name and zip and he was able to pull up all my info, including VIN number and home and email addresses. It was quite painless. Like I said, the more people that they know are effected, the more priority it gets. -paul
  21. I contacted FORD today, this was the first they heard of the condition. I basically asked, if this is a bug or by design, they are looking into it. -paul
  22. Is anyone looking into this, have they spoke to FORD yet. I'll do it, if I knew who to talk to.
  23. Hi There: I contacted sync about the issue and found that its not a Sync issue as I had thought. So now it seems to be a NAV issue, maybe a firmware update is needed, but from who? Maybe the vendor that does the Maps might know.
  24. Hey Viper: I did not expect this to turn into a tracking post, I basically just wanted a window sticker which you did for me. I thank you very much. Now my dealer is at a loss, they excepted my vechile in by Sept. 22nd but no show, hopefully you might punch in my VIN one more time and check if the escape has left the gate. Again my appoliges, but the dealer can not figure out where the car is. VIN: 1FMC459329KA42243 Thanks so much -paul
  25. Hey Viper: Just wondering if you might be able to get my window sticker? The VIN is 1FMC459329KA42243 Thanks for all the help! -paul
