  1. I have the '09 Escape 2.5L and received the recall notice back in May. I took it to the dealership in early June (@ 28,000 miles) and had the transmission reflashed. I then took it almost immediately on a 1600 mile round trip on flat roads and through low mountain highways in Virginia and Tennessee. I haven't noticed any shift flare problems since the reflash. The main thing I noticed was about a 2-3 mpg improvement on the highway. Initially my in-town mileage dropped about 1 mpg but that has crept back up to where it was (about 27 mpg under mostly suburb type driving conditions)
  2. I had the transmission reflash performed back in June and immediately went on a trip from Maryland to northwest Georgia. The shifting was nice and smooth and even though I was driving on the slightly mountainous portion of I-81 the gas milage was good if not better than what I have experienced on several previous trips on nice flat highways (i.e. I-95). However, once I returned to my daily commute I noticed that my gas mileage has dropped almost 2 MPG. Has anyone else experienced this sort of change?
  3. I have been driving my 09 I4 for a year now and it is fantastic. I have driven it from Maryland to Jacksonville and a separate trip to Atlanta. It has made frequent trips to Virginia Beach and I never have any problems merging on the interstate or passing on two lane roads. The gas milage is much better than I expected. Most of my commute is on a 4 lane road with several traffic lights between my home and office and I average around 27.3 MPG in semi in-town driving and have gotten over 34 MPG on the highway if I stick to the 55 MPH roadways. On the interstate crusing at 75+ MPH it will get btwn 29-30 MPG. I took a test drive in a 2008 I4 and they are not the same engine. This thing is peppy with impressive accelleration and torque. As 09escape above says, if I am leaving a rest stop on the interstate and nail the accelerator in the merge lane I find myself having to back off the gas pedal by the time I get to the highway so that I am not overtaking the traffic.
  4. I order my '09 last year on July 4th and took deliver on September 13th. I would have had it a few days earlier, but it was initially delivered to the wrong dealership which was about 30 miles from where I placed my order.
  5. I have just left mine alone. I have read too many mixed reviews of the success that people have had. The problem I was having with the CD player resetting seemed to be with the CDs and not the player. It was a recorded audio book and no other CDs have done the same thing. Everything else works except the calender date and the engine start time not displaying in any mode other than CD. I think I'll just leave mine alone for now.
  6. I just had my '09 Escape in for its first warranty service and the dealership still has no update information on the center stack problem. i don't know if it is related or not, but other minor aggrevations are starting to pop-up. Occasionally when I stop the car and leave it parked for a while, the CD will reset to track #1 when I restart the car. Not too bad for music, but I have to do some track skipping if I am listening to a recorded book. I have also had the full map display set itself to the full audio display.
  7. I have the same experience with my '09 Escape Limited I4. From cold start and passing 43 mph the slight grinding sensation through the gas pedel. Glad to know it is just the ABS/Traction Control. I pretty much read the entire manual but missed that reference.
  8. My seats get warm quick, but just a out the time I think they are getting too hot, the cycle off and then back on after they cool a bit. They don't seem to get as hot on subsequent heating cycles.
  9. Paul, Thanks for taking the lead on this for us and providing valuable feedback. NOW the most important question.....What number do we call???????
  10. I haven't contacted FMC, but have talked with my dealership about the issue and they are continuing to look into it. Maybe we will all get in to our vehicles one day and find that a magic download has been performed through the satellite while we slept.
  11. I have no prior experience with back-up sensors in any vehicle. My sound system does not mute or reduce volume when the back-up sensor sounds. Hope this info helps.
  12. My '09 FEL (from the same exact factory) took 8 weeks from order to delivery and that encompassed the 2 weeks factory downtime that took place in August.
  13. "Standard Options" is an oxymoron...but to answer your question. The 10 gig is available for use as a jukebox or photo storage as part of the NAV package.
  14. I can't remember the part number and I already ditched the paperwork. I have an '09 Escape Limited (non-hybrid). The cargo liner is kind of a dark tan (almost brown) and contrasts nicely with the light camel interior. It came rolled up in a shipping box that was about 40 inches end to end and about 6 inches square. It fit almost perfectly right out of the box and after it had about a day to R-E-L-A-X everything was fine.
  15. That is exactly what mine does. I don't know about everyone else's display, but if the date and time do come up on mine, the time stays fixed to whenever I turned the key on and does not advance.
