  1. Never, I can honestly said I have never claimed to be from Detroit, People from my neck of the woods love their community! Odd that you left Brooklyn out of the list, is that because a 100 and some thousand people come there twice a year from all over the country. Nick I think you are confusing us "hicks" with people from Dearborn who like to pretend to be from the "D". Get a life, and please stop trying to insult your Brothers and Sisters, nearly every post you put up is negative or inflammatory.
  2. When the land to build that plant was sold to Ford part of the deal required that Ford never cut down that tree.
  3. At most plants you get the same premium as c -crew for getting to work before 5 a.m. at those plants you get a 50% premium for working weekends. Obviously this person cant bump to another shift.., Back Glass try to have compassion for your union brother instead of contempt, attitudes like yours is what has worked to undermine the solidarity and strength of our union. C-crew was and is a bad deal 10% premium is not an acceptable trade of for some one to give up every weekend and work a swing shift. You seem to be implying that people with out seniority to bump deserve to suffer, the brothers and sisters on c crew are not 90 day wonders. When I hired in I ran across people like you who told me I didn't have nothing for seniority they had 5 yrs and that was something, now I have nearly 15 and those same people are still saying the same stuff cause they've got nearly 20. When Dtp did cuts in 08 it took nearly 10 yrs to stay. Back Glass when you get screwed over next time hopefully your Committee Man tells you to find another job if you don't like what is happening. We are all in this together.... and c-crew regularly makes less money on lay-offs, is forced to work when the rest of the Union is on holiday so they can have Sun. off. These and many other issues are unique to their situation, just because International and local 600 sold these people out does not mean that we the members need to follow suit.
  4. I have not been on Blue Oval in some time, this thread reminds me why. This was not something that happened at all Applebees but only at 6 locations in Kentucky, which where close to a Toyota plant. These locations where all owned by the same individual and they are not owned by the Applbees Corporation. When I first heard this story a couple weeks ago I googled it to see what the truth was, Applebeees corporate was not involved and did not sanction the free meals. So if as auto workers we want to boycott a corporation for something that an individual franchise owner did thats fine it is slightly misdirected and short sighted but spend your money where you want. I have seen people on the floor talking about this with outrage while they where their Nike shoe's carrying their bag of stuff from Wal-mart, but the fact that thier old navy shirt was made by foreign children at near slave wages doesn't enter the conversation. No one has a problem sending the profits from that bottle of Jack Daniels to a foreign country, or drinking a non- UAW made Budwiser. But Some dick who owns a few Applebees in Kentucky gives some down on their luck American Workers who happen to work for a foreign company a free lunch we are outraged. Direct your frustration at that right people, and do your research before you get outraged, the American worker is under constant assault and we are worried about a fellow American getting a free lunch.
  5. Never had an awol never been on medical but I do drive 150 miles while some 14 hr temp works 7-12's on my old job at my old plant that is not sold or closed. The Ron and bob show is so intent on organizing the suppliers to get their 2hrs worth of pay a month, that they don't care what happens to the existing members. The only way he's getting a bottle of Scotch from me is up the A**!!!!!!!
  6. It does seem like we spend more fighting with them then we do the company!!! Who's side are they on?
  7. When Int. steps in it usually isn't good for the little guy, just my experience.
  8. Your ideas are so crazy they might just work, we cant expect people to buy American if we don't return the favor.
  9. Just my opinion but, Saline has elections coming up, and if I were a chairman who advised people that they should leave Saline if they wanted a job, while the more experienced guy who wants to run against me told people to stay? I might want to hold off on getting these people back till after the election. As far as trades if there are guys on the street (UAW members from other plants) who aren't working, and Saline trades are working 7/12's and there are contractors working in there because trades can't keep up, I would say that they could probobaly use the help.
  10. That was the real problem with ETAP, not people going to college but the fact that many of the overpriced training sessions that the UAW throws qualified for funding from ETAP. The union bastardized the education process and used ETAP as a way to funnel money from the company into their own back pocket. The company was not innocent in this process either, when we got to DTP they made us fill out forms to register for Henry Ford Comm. College so that they could write off the orientation as college level training. (I don't think the orientation's funds came from ETAP, but it does come at the expense of the tax payer) And yes I have used my ETAP!
  11. Where are they going to send the work to, not to Utica, or suppliers like Collins and Aikmen they went belly up and Saline got their work, not Leer cause Saline got jobs from them when Leer declared bankruptcy.
  12. For the record you couldn't pay me $6000 to live 5 min from the Rouge!!!
  13. Sad, sad, sad according to the latest issue of Solidarity I just got yesterday pg. 24 lists financial report ,the UAW spent over $4 mil. on education alone last year. Organization education and communication combine total over $25 mil. for what? who is being educated when we don't even have a contract book from 2007 they certainly haven't been concerned with "communicating" what is in the new local contract for us at local Sucks hundred. If they gave a shit about any of the those three things I can tell you we would have a copy, and if not a hard copy they would have it available on pdf. It is the new millenium it is time for our leaders to change like we have had to, this is the information age and it time our leaders step up to the plate and provide us with timely information. go to local 600'website and checkout the last time some of those pages were updated.(may be there hasn't been much going on in the last few years).
