  1. I've thought of the same thing. But it's not just how far it sticks out. It's also the height of the hitch receiver. Many vehicles will have bumpers that will clear your hitch comfortably and smack your bumper without even touching the hitch. Installing a ball mount may actually help reduce that possibility. You also need to think of the reverse situation, like when you're trying to parallel park. Do you really want those extra few inches in the back that could cause you to scrape paint off somebody else's front bumper while trying to park?
  2. Well what do you think I bought it for? Aerodynamics? Most people who buy them use them for things like snowboards, skis, etc., rather than for their increased aerodynamic efficiency. Unless you expect my passengers to hold their snowboards in their laps for the entire 3 hour trip to Tahoe. /sarcasm off.
  3. Can't you just turn on your fog lamps and pretend those are the DRL's?
  4. I just installed a silver Thule Spirit 689 cargo carrier on top of my silver FEH. It looks fantabulous.
  5. That's what I've been saying this whole time. :shades:
  6. Well a guy was asking about the same conditions that I've experienced and the reply was to get a Scangauge and do all that stuff, which I was commenting that I don't want to do. I shouldn't have to to get at least the EPA numbers IMO. I don't blast the AC or floor the accelerator, after all.....
  7. This all sounds a bit too anal, no offense intended. I don't think I would enjoy driving this car as much if I constantly had to monitor all that stuff while driving, shift into this gear if in ICE, shift into that gear if in EV, coast this way, brake that way, monitor this gauge in that mode at x speed for y amount of time. Not to mention it would impair ability to monitor external traffic conditions. I'm sure I could get 40+ mpg doing all that stuff, but it sounds like to me getting those extra few mpg isn't worth that kind of constant vigilance and the detraction from the driving experience.
  8. You have to be careful with the cargo liners for the FE and FEH. They are definitely NOT the same fit as some guy in the Service dept at my Ford dealer told me after people came to him with complaints about it. I'm waiting until at least 1/09 for some site to SPECIFICALLY state they have a liner fitted for the hybrid version. And even then they may just be assuming the non-hybrid liner fits the hybrid.....
  9. Exactly. Add to that the loud engine (for an I4) and that pretty much encapsulates my feelings about the car. Oh, and the interior moulding could look a little classier.
  10. Hey Tango, where did you get the cargo mat, and does it fit your hybrid?
  11. I'm just going to assume you have absolutely no idea of the history of this guy's posts here, so your comment will be taken as it is, from someone who just walked in on a long, drawn-out melodramatic conversation at the tail end (or in the middle of it if my dire prediction comes to pass).
  12. I'll visit this topic if I please, but it's certainly NOT to read your posts. What I'd like is for you to stop hijacking threads and turning them into your personal b1tchfest or your personal medium for seeking attention. Despite a title like "Dude, where's my hybrid", the thread isn't for your queer up-to-the-minute updates of where your car is, and I find it extremely odd that you actually think people give a rat's ass where your car is going to be two hours from now, though not a single person has indicated so, and several people have indicated otherwise. Seriously, you seem to have some real social issues, both online (as we can all see), and in real life (as you've already painfully described all over these boards). VP's suggestion to read that book may be the best advice anyone's ever given you in your life.
  13. You're probably correct in that assessment, fmorriso. I find myself having the same problem with you more and more. I suspect others are as well. God save us when you actually get your hybrid and you find something wrong with it. Then we'll have to sift through another cascading mountain of crap from you about how Ford, or your dealer, or your mechanic, or your mother, is somehow out to get you. Followed by a minute by minute report of how you feel your dealer is mismanaging your repairs.
