  1. I agree with you about the CAP VP, but the lack of Union Leadership worries me. It seems to me they do not have a clue, and that makes it dangerous.
  2. I'm glad I got my Union Plus Credit card this Year. Morale is so low everywhere, there is a high probability of a strike, regardless of how you vote. Keep your cash and make minimum payments on everything right now. If you have kids in College contact your Financial aid Office and Explain your situation(if there is a strike). This has the possibility of getting very ugly, very fast. Whatever happens lets remember this could be the Middle Class last stand.
  3. I am definitely not a company man, If I was I would have become a process coach a long time ago. What I try to do is be pro active and protect my union brothers and sisters in my zone from arbitrary write ups and discipline. I try to help and fix issues like over cycled jobs by continuously paging and calling our production standards representatives, our ergonomics Representatives, FPS, QOSC's, and even the Plant manager if necessary. Often times design issues from engineering or Launch are blamed on operators when it's not their fault. We can disagree on many things, but don't mistake kindness for weakness.
  4. Why? Because I support my International Union? Think about it?
  5. Why do you say I'm in a poor financial situation? Everyone knows Team Leaders at CAP get max overtime! Over 100 grand 6 Years Running!
  6. Union Brothers and Sisters, If this was an experiment it's obvious you need to do what is right for you. Tier 2 does not give a damn about Tier 1, they are greedy ass bastards that are using your emotions to gain support for themselves. They don't care about the products we are building and they don't care about the Future. If your main reason for voting on this contract is to support tier 2 you are hurting yourself. My only brothers and sister are biological, I would not risk one Penny on Tier 2. Greed defines Tier 2. Vote on this contract based on your own needs and your own benefits.
  7. Greed (Latin, avaritia), also known as avarice, cupidity, or covetousness, is the inordinate desire to possess wealth, goods, or objects of abstract value with the intention to keep it for one's self, far beyond the dictates of basic survival and comfort. It is applied to a markedly high desire for and pursuit of wealth, status, and power. As secular psychological concept, greed is, similarly, an inordinate desire to acquire or possess more than one needs. The degree of inordinance is related to the inability to control the reformulation of "wants" once desired "needs" are eliminated. Erich Fromm described greed as "a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction." It is typically used to criticize those who seek excessive material wealth, although it may apply to the need to feel more excessively moral, social, or otherwise better than someone else. The purpose for greed, and any actions associated with it, is possibly to deprive others of potential means (perhaps, of basic survival and comfort) or future opportunities accordingly, or to obstruct them therefrom, as a measure of enhanced discretion via majority belongings-having and majority competitive advantage, thus insidious and tyrannical or otherwise having negative connotation. Alternately, the purpose could be defense or counteraction from such dangerous, potential leverage in matters of questionable agreeability. A consequence of greedy activity may be inability to sustain any of the costs or burdens associated with that which has been or is being accumulated, leading to a backfire or destruction, whether of self or more generally. So, the level of "inordinance" of greed pertains to the amount of vanity, malice or burden associated with it.
  8. Let's wait and see. I still think it's a good deal.
  9. With those credentials, anybody can be Quality manager at a Ford Plant.
  10. I enjoy reading everyone's posts even if only for entertainment purposes. Decker I respect your math and numbers, but I really do believe this is a good Contract and the International Union should be commended instead of Bashed.
  11. This is a pretty good contract. I would vote yes in a heart beat!
  12. Are you saying a Ford UAW Tentative agreement is is coming soon?
  13. Either way we are screwed! Either by the Union or the Company! If you are a Legacy employee, we are going to be worse off! The only members gaining are the Tier 2 Employees! I would rather keep the status quo than a worse contract for Legacy employees.
  14. This is scary! Retire and live below the poverty level...even with a Pension! imagine those employees that don't have a Pension! In the meantime American Companies are the Richest in the world!
  15. UAW 551 has started posting 5 Year Anniversary pictures with the hash tag #25moretogo. Is this accurate? I thought the Pension system was restructured and new employees no longer have this option. Any comments?
  16. I totally agree with TigerFan, If they want to play supervisor than the Union should not support them and they should actually be kicked out of the UAW!
  17. No wonder they go around the Plant pretending to be management! Why would the union even allow that?
  18. Decker What do the rules say about overtime for QOSC's. I'm on C-crew and it seems they are coming in every weekend. I hear they are blackmailing the departments into paying them on weekends and do absolutely nothing. What do the rules say about being payed by other departments? The QOSC program is supposed to be a joint program but in Chicago these appointed individuals are getting the membership in trouble and often threatening and adding work to people in Final. How does a QOSC get disqualified?
  19. Decker, you are saying the Ford Explorer won't be moved to a another Plant?
  20. Heard today The Explorer is supposed to go to Michigan Assembly Plant in 2018 and Chicago will not get any more Products. Anybody else hear anything? How many people are allowed to follow a Product to another Plant? What options do we have once a Plant is scheduled to close? I know this is just a rumor, but would still like to know my options, instead of being caught off guard.
  21. I'm working on my Apprentice Sheep Herders card! According to most reports Chicago will be eliminating the C-crew soon! Stay tuned for further updates!
