sterling voted Yes!...66% yes for production...64% yes for skilled trades

I am at sterling....it is 2 day shift crews 12 hours a day one crew works 4 12's the other works 3 12's...the next week they switch.......2 afternoon crews...one works 4 12's the other works 3 12's the next week they switch.....so you work 12 hour days but you work 4 days one week and 3 the next.

We have been told at Sterling that every department in the F-150 value stream will be going to 4 crew by the end of February...including trades...we will see, soon!

Per the contract the company must notify the union of their intention to have a shutdown by February 1st, however they do not have to post plant wide who is working and who is not and what the exact dates are until April 1st. Our plant usually surveys the skilled trades the first 2 weeks of February , so we know what dates they are planning at that time.

I'm with you on this...don't see how it could be less then what we got in 99. Even if the number of employees don't matter the profit is more.

Keep hearing 10,000....also keep hearing the company is embarrassed to give that much and is looking for creative ways to get out of it.

I work at Sterling...and we are not putting on apprentices....we still have MW apprentices on layoff that never got called back.

no word here at Sterling....I've asked the Chairman a couple times...no reply except .... it looks like the 2 weeks will be split.

yea there are not a lot of us def lep fans left.....It's tough to plan a vacation when they won't confirm anything til April 1st....We go to the national parks every summer and most of them you have to book a year in advance. So I take my best guess at when shutdown is.

Anyone hear anything about summer shutdowns? The company really through us for a loop by splitting the shutdown last summer. Just want to make some vacation plans and would love to know what weeks we are getting off.

This is true, however here at Sterling we didn't even get a survey , for the first time in my 13 years there. They told us the "tenative" shut down will be the week of June 28th and the week of August 17th...subject to change up until April 1st.

anyone know what this "reduction of skilled trade positions"? means...our local keeps saying they are going to combine more trades, but no one seems to know for sure.

The big meeting today was alll doom and gloom....We have several hundred people too many, and if enough people don't take the buyouts, the company will have to make some difficult decisions that will will not like (this is code for close this plant)....

all the more of a reason to be in it now..at least you're getting paid now. imagine what the last 2 years of the contract will be like if there is no $$$.

It will last. as of contract time 1 year ago there was over $900 million in the JSP fund....that should last a while.

I heard from a union official today that only 20 people have signed up for the buy outs....rumor has it some Ford VP is coming in for a plant information meeting next week to scare the sh%$t out of everyone, so more people sign up for the buyout.
