  1. I was told that depending on the level of 'damage' a vehicle has is what determines what happens to it. If it gets dropped out of a rail car, or wrecked in transport, I hear they are usually crushed. For something like this that is limited to minor defects in appearance, I was told they are usually sold to a rental fleet, or as a company vehicle, etc.
  2. latest word is the dealer says it's a buyback. 1/2 the vehicle would have to be resprayed = big money. So we have to give this one back, then be on foot for 5 weeks while we wait for the replacement to get here, and hope the Quality Control guys don't sleep thru our second one being built. The Dealer has actually been really supportive, they offered to split the cost of a rental, but that still means we're going to be out 500 bucks. Not a good option. Going to see if we can't get a regional/district manager involved tomorrow. Anyone have advice for me?
  3. Well it arrived at our dealer 5/18. Only issue is a paint bubble on the rear quarter panel, and what looks like massive black paint overspray UNDER the clear coat down most of the passenger side. I clayed the paint today, and got a bunch of junk out of the paint (probably brake dust from the train) but couldn't get any of the black overspray. We'll see what the Dealer says monday, I'd hate to need a repaint. The rest of the vehicle is AWESOME. Glad we decided on the Limited, but we did prefer the two knob setup on the SEL for the radio/fan speed. I'll reserve further comment on the paint till I see what Ford/the dealer will do for us.
  4. I've enjoyed reading some of your responses to people who probably didn't read your rules for this forum. Thanks for the entertainment, and thanks for the tracking help on my Edge. It arrived on the 18th to my dealer, we brought it home that night. Before the cleaning: After the cleaning: .
  5. Figgure I'd start my tracking thread, Thanks! Ordered it 4-14 so I'm not sure if it is too early to check progress, and found no mention in your *information thread* Dealer code: F52166 Order No: 7657
  6. Well, after months of talking about it, looking at used and new, we bit the bullet. Ordered the 300A Limited - White Platinum tricoat paint/stone interior. Ecoboost Driver Entry Package Vision Package Navigation Cargo Acc. package All Weather Floormats This is my Wife's first new car and we plan on keeping it a long time, so I hope it holds together well. Can't wait to get updates on it's progress. We have X-plan, so I feel good about the deal. Salesman told us 6 to 7 weeks to delivery.
  7. I have a '03 Focus SVT ZX5 with 115K miles, and I'm interested in the new ST. I'm hopeful that Ford will be able to hold the price back, but I expect a Focus ST to go for ~28K minimum, which is a problem since my SVT was less than 20K sticker, and included a lot of nice equipment. The Mazdaspeed 3 is offered for 24K, If Ford can't keep the price close to that point, they may not sell very well.
  8. Word is the Factory controller will outperform any of the aftermarket units, it's definitely not time delay based.
  9. Problem is incentives cost the manufacturer a lot of profit. Ford (along with many others) have cut production to line up with demand, to prevent going under. Have you already forgotten about the recent bankrupt companies, and the many brands closed or sold? I hear ya who wouldn't love a big incentive, but it's not sustainable in a down economy.
  10. Are you high? No, seriously... Lets compare the numbers on 4x4 automatic trucks. Since I own a 1995, I'll use it's numbers. -------------302----------------Ecoboost HP----------195-------------------365 TQ.---------275------------------ 420 tow:-------6600----------------11,300 MPG:-----12/17-----------------15/21 The bolded numbers win.... Don't get me wrong, I love my '95, but it can barely get out of it's own way compared to this new iron, and I simply wouldn't trust the tranny hooking up to a 6,000 lb. trailer, and it'd be so dog slow doing it. Not to mention Federally mandated equipment that has made the trucks heavier, but safer (airbags, crumple zones, Tire pressure monitoring, etc.) and it's impressive.
  11. I probably shouldn't respond, since I have no first hand knowledge, but nobody reponded to by Job 2 post here, so I'll tell you what I heard. Evidently KC was delayed on job 2 start. They are suposed to start tomorrow the 10th. I'm not sure Ecoboost will begin with job 2 tomorrow, you still can't build one on Fords US site.
  12. Just currious if the Job 2 trucks started today as was scheduled? It seems to me that the Ecoboost is probably not starting production the same time as Job 2.
  13. I doubt it. The EPA certifies MPG #'s in the states. The Canadians probably use an abacus and the location of the sun to determine their ratings (just kidding, but I'm certain the formula used differs country to country)
  14. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-12-06/ford-motor-delays-some-f-150-pickup-truck-shipments-due-to-parts-shortage.html Does this delay have anything to do with the PCM? I'm excited to hear that job 2 should start right after the new year, if that holds true, seems we might be seeing the ecoboost in very late Jan/early Feb.
  15. I'd love to see the updated order guide for Job 2, hopefully it will soon make it up here.
  16. A few of my local dealers are showing three to four 2011 f-150's on the lot, one had a build date of 11/18. I can't wait for job 2, although we probably won't be ordering until Feb or March.
  17. Yea, much agreed. I don't want the 6.2 liter, but I want the max tow, which means the 3.5 is my only option, and it might be march or april before I'd be able to take delivery or maybe even order?
  18. This is a big problem for me, as I'd be more than happy with the 5.0 liter, but must get the tow mirrors, and it's not available. It's really weird because the tow mirrors are available on the 5.4 currently, and the 5.0 engine is all around better. I don't think I can wait till May to buy a truck so I'm not sure what to do at this point.
  19. Just a few notes, as I was also at the Houston Drive event early Saturday morning. The hitches they were using were not Equalizer hitches, they were Weight Distributing hitches. Had they been using Equalizer brand hitches insted of the cheaper spring bar/chain snap up hitches, the ride should not have been nearly as pitchy. I experienced no yaw forces while towing, but it is worth noting that no mechanical tongue mounted sway control was being utilized. Another note is the weight ballast in the trailers is Water (about 600 gallons of water), which tends to slosh big time, which could have been some of the pitch/yaw you were experiencing. The braking was incredible, both with the trailer and also at the end of the 1/4 mile drag, the brakes were just amazing. The integration with the brake controller is awesome. The steering was also incredible. I was expecting the elec. power steering to be a huge let down, boy was I surprised. I also noticed some manufacturer dates on a few of the Ecoboost F-150's I got in. The earliest I saw had a manf. date of 5/10. Most seemed to be around August.
  20. http://www.fordvehicles.com/trucks/f150/2011/ looks like it was just put up, 2011 f-150 under the future vehicles. Still no Build your own from what I saw.
  21. no idea, but Ford has posted 2011 drivetrain video's up on the F150 page. So can't be much longer before they start releasing more info about the 2011's.
  22. I think your right. They've even got an additional 1,000 dollar end of year incentive on the window sticker of the trucks I've seen, and production of the 2010's has ended correct?
  23. I keep looking here, hopefully someone will post it as soon as it's released from Ford.
