  1. 09 Focus Coupe SES 5sp manual. 100 round trip commute 75% highway. Mileage averages 32 so far on E10.
  2. Nice review, thank you. I'm glad to know that the clutch has some feel to it. My 09 Focus is just as you described, either there or not. After 10k, I am still not used to it. But I will probably wait for a 2 door Fiesta. No need to trade in the Focus just yet. Other than the clutch, it is a pretty nice car.
  3. I would rather not pay for that option. I ended up buying a Focus with it included, but it was the last day of Employee pricing and I bought a car with it added. I notice that when I drive hard into a turn, my car is selectively braking and it gives the car a weird feel. But then my insurance company gave me a tiny discount for having it. But I will live with it. I like the car overall and I intend to keep it at least 3 years.
  4. Your not going to get much for under 10k unless you like roller skates and Briggs and Sratton engines. I think the new Fiesta is one of those cars that can help bring back young budget minded buyers to Ford. My first brand new car was a little Mercury Tracer that I purchased for 7k in 1989. It was a little light on the amenities, but damn was it reliable. I logged about 380,000 miles on it and only parked it when the frame rusted around the front suspension. Before that I owned all kinds of cars from GM to Chrysler. After the Tracer I have purchased only Fords. My newest car is a 2009 Ford Focus and it was affordable enough that I could really option it out. I think the Focus appeals to the young crowd, and I'm sure the Fiesta will.
  5. I submitted my entry last night. Don't laugh, I only decided to do it at the last minute and went out and bought me a new camcorder and barely got it in before the deadline. I also picked up Adobe Premier Elements and had fun trying to figure it out. So there I am the Fiesta clock is ticking away, but I still have one hour and ten minutes. So I go to youtube and get this nasty message about my account being unavailable due to maintenance and that I should be COOL? WTF, I'm trying to qualify for a Fiesta test drive and now I can't upload. I uploaded to an alternate site and submitted anyway. I tried again this morning and it was up, so here are the results. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WP0ZD616NsY Let's hope that Ford pics some drivers that can put the Fiesta through it's paces. Good luck everyone.
  6. I guess I should do my part to keep this old thread going. I don't care what they call it as long as they bring it to the US. Sadly the Fiesta is only coming to the US as a 4 and 5 door. WTF, what happened to those cool 2 doors concepts that they teased us with. I decided not to wait for the 2 door and bought an 09 Focus Coupe. I like the Focus, but would rather have the MPG's as I commute 100 miles a day. BTW my experience with Escorts has been less than stellar. I have owned a 94 Escort Wagon, a 95 Tracer Wagon, a 95 Escort Wagon, and a 99 ZX2. The 94 went 150+ before the head cracked. The Tracer had to have the transmission rebuilt at 80k, It and the 95 wagon both lost timing belts at 64k and 86k respectively. Both 95's soldier on, the 99 had over 170k before a deer finished her off. Non of these cars can hold a candle to my old 89 Mercury Tracer (Mazda 323 clone). She went 380k before a rusted front end forced her to be parked. The old 1.6l engine still runs great and never had any work done on her. It could hit over 40 mpg and only stranded me once when the alternator went out. I had hoped the Fiesta would replace this car, but I don't like 4 doors except on wagons, and SUV's.
  7. I used to have a 99 ZX2, a sporty looking 2 door. When a deer finished her off, I bought a Ranger instead as I did not like the looks of the Focus. I prefer 2 doors and in my opinion the ZX3 hatchbacks look like they were rear ended and had their taillights kicked up over their waist line. Sorry no offense to anyone, I just don't like the way they look from the back. So when Ford announced a Focus Coupe, my interest was peaked. Employee pricing and 0% financing proved to much to pass up and I bought one a few weeks ago. Too new to give a reliability report, but I like this car. With the leather seats (heated!!!) it is actually comfortable for a compact car. When I turn my head to look out the side window, I'm not staring at a door pillar. I like the body lines of the Coupe and it reminds me of my old ZX2, but with more headroom. BTW while I am a Ford fan, I am not an apologist for them. Just ask me about the wheel bearings on my 02 Explorer.
