One thing I think would be kind of neat would be if Ford revived the Ranchero model line based off the current Fusion platform.
While this obviously would not replace the Ranger in terms of towing and off-road capabilities, it would serve at least some of the current Ranger market in that it would provide a vehicle with a very large, open trunk for the light duty hauling of bulky items. Plenty of people don't have or need a full size truck, but do occassionally have to haul items that don't fit in the trunk of regular car. Because it would be based off an existing, high-volume platform, it could be produced economically at relatively low production numbers, and the fuel economy delivered by such a vehicle would not hurt their CAFE numbers a single bit.
