  1. A true Ranchero (two seats in front with a bed in the back) based on the Fusion platform would have me running to my Ford dealer to place an order!
  2. One thing I think would be kind of neat would be if Ford revived the Ranchero model line based off the current Fusion platform. While this obviously would not replace the Ranger in terms of towing and off-road capabilities, it would serve at least some of the current Ranger market in that it would provide a vehicle with a very large, open trunk for the light duty hauling of bulky items. Plenty of people don't have or need a full size truck, but do occassionally have to haul items that don't fit in the trunk of regular car. Because it would be based off an existing, high-volume platform, it could be produced economically at relatively low production numbers, and the fuel economy delivered by such a vehicle would not hurt their CAFE numbers a single bit.
  3. It would have been nice to at least do something different for the last year of the Ranger. Maybe some special badging or something, a couple of new colors, if not a limited edition commerative truck of some kind. The end of an era for the reliable old Ranger......
  4. If it's in really nice shape, probably $2500 - $3000 would be my guess.......
  5. Reliability aside, the 3.0 Vulcan is commonly referred to in Ranger circles as the "3.SLOW" -- a nod to the less-than-stellar acceleration of the engine. The reason they got rid of it, quite frankly, was because the new 2.3 Duratec I-4 they began putting in the Rangers a few years back had almost the same horsepower, but delivered significantly better gas mileage.
  6. Thanks for posting -- no Grabber Blue.......
  7. Checked with my local dealer this evening -- every 2010 order guide is out except for the Ranger.
  8. I have a 1997 Ranger with the 2.3 Lima engine and an automatic transmission. I typically get 21-22 mpg, with most of my mileage racked up on the highway running 70-75 mph. My understanding is that the newer Rangers with the 2.3 Duratec engine get slightly better mileage.

    2010 Ranger

Waiting for that info myself, hoping to find Grabber Blue as one of the colors offered on the 2010 models. If it's not, I may just try to grab a deal on a remaining 2009, even though the side impact air bags and stability control will be attractive features on the 2010 models. The 2009 order guides didn't come out until late June of 2008, so it may be another month before we see the 2010 guides.
  10. Here's the only data I've ever found on the 2007's: http://www.grabberorange.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4157
  11. Yep -- go with the higher ratio. I wish I would have had that option from the factory on my 2008.
  12. Anyone have a link to some final Mustang production numbers for the 2008 model year? I am looking for a breakdown by trim level, color, etc. I've found them for earlier S197 models, but not for 2008 as of yet.
  13. Anyone out there have a "head's up" on what color selections will be available for the 2010 Rangers? I'm in the market for a new Ranger to replace my current '97 model, and have been thinking about holding off until I can order a 2010 so I get the side impact air bags and stability control. However, I've been curious what the color choices for 2010 might be. Now that it's being offered on the 2010 Mustang, I was hoping we might see Grabber Blue to replace the Grabber Orange thats been offered on the 2009 models! Any "Fordies" out there with an inside scoop.....???
  14. I went to my local dealer a week or two ago and when I told them I was there to look at a new Ranger they just about fell over backwards! I think the salesman's exact words were, "Nobody ever comes in here looking for a Ranger!" FWIW -- I love my little '97 Ranger, which I have owned since it was new and has given me years of rock-solid reliable service! I fully intend to purchase a new one in the next year or so to hopefully give me another dozen years of unblinking daily driver service that free's up money for my toys (I'm thinking a nice '04 - '05 Thunderbird to go along with my '05 F-150 and my '08 Mustang) and keeps the miles off my babies. Incidentally, I was surprised how much stronger the Duratec 2.3 was compared to the 2.3 Lima in my '97 -- I look forward to the added "oomph" provided by this new engine!
