No joy to the reprogramming. New Body Control Module on the way for Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

No, no open doors. The vehicle is at the dealer. Apparently they had to reprogram an onboard computer (no idea which). Hopefully they really know that that will fix the issue. We shall see!

I'm currently driving a 2020 Ford Escape SEL with the 1.5L EcoBoost. It seems to be a nice car overall, but the engine noise is really worrisome. I'm used to DOHC 4 cylinder engines, especially the 2.0L EcoBoost in my wife's Fusion being rather smooth. Yes, it's a 4 cylinder, so it isn't V-6 smooth, but still unobtrusive. This 1.5L engine just GROANS all the time. The engine noise is rough and not pleasing at all. I know its a subjective question, but is this typical of the 1.5L engine in the Escape now? Anyone else have experience with it? Thanks, I'll hang up and listen

Here's a strange new problem. The interior lights on my Ex will not fade out when the door is closed. They start to fade, but then come back on immediately. The only way to shut them off while driving is to manually turn them off at the right hand overhead override switch. Also the cargo area light will not go off at all. I had to pry it out of the wall receptacle and disconnect it. Anyone see these issues? I'm only 125 miles in and after the initial brake issues and now this, I may already hate this truck... Thanks!

If Edge is to be retained for a while, then there is hope that Fusion will be here for a bit as well. At least until my wife gets her next one. She's adamant that she will only drive a sedan. It'll be her first non-Ford in 25 years if she has to go with a Mazda or Nissan. For shame....

My understanding is that the current Edge/Nautilus are based on the Fusion/MKZ platform. Anyone know what the plan is for Edge/Nautilus after the Fusion/MKZ production stops? Seems like the Mustang crossover is about the same size.

My thought exactly. Dealer now says he will see if can pull a part from another new unit. Is this where Ford is on the 2020 Explorer now? Cannibalizing units?

Took delivery of a new 2020 Limited last week. Did not get off the lot before the brakes failed. Parts ordered, but replacement brake booster on back-order. Dealer says maybe next week. Come on Ford, get it together!

Latest word is that the windshield installation process can create a hairline crack in the A-Pillar applique. This crack compromises the part and can get worse over time. Supposedly plant is aware, but installer error means this is going to be an issue in some units on an ongoing basis (until redesigned I guess). I have a replacement part on back-order at a local dealer (along with a few other folks at the same dealer apparently). Should be a couple weeks to get the new part. Will also update MFT from 2.4 to 2.7 at same time.

Well it was too good to be true. The reported A-Pillar rattle was supposedly an early-build issue that was addressed by the plant. I took delivery of my Limited Ex that was built in mid-February and, gratifyingly, there was no rattle. 2,300 miles and month and a half in, the rattle has begun. It follows the usual pattern - highway speeds with crosswind sets up a vibration in the A-Pillar applique (the glossy black trim piece) that sounds like a bumble-bee. Frikin' annoying! Feedback from Ford says that this can happen to any 2011 Explorer if the trim piece is not installed correctly. I call BS on this. My Ex did not have it - now it does. Obviously the trim applique can work loose and begin to vibrate. A long-term fix is needed. Taping off the gap between the applique and the the rubber windshield moulding is not an acceptable repair. Beware all....

You can find out more than most. Your inventory manager can tell you how much allocation the dealership had (or has) and about the timing. In any case, that's great for you as your be down the road pretty soon!
