  1. If any pipefitters do not want to be forced to Chicago or any other trades for that matter, you just might see a lot sign up for this.
  2. Thats great news for all the trades guys working in production or laid off. Does anyone know what the total is for trades working in production in Michigan? There has to be more than 100. Plus, once ACH plants get sold, wont that put more trades (and possibly production) "in the system"? I know AAI is adding a shift but thats not for awhile and with all the drama at MAP about will they/wont they, there is still a potential to have many trades not "back on their tools"
  3. Are you saying the 50,000 buydown to go back to production is only available until March 1?
  4. The article also said it would be voluntary. I am not retired but I do like this idea depending on what the dollar amount would be. Sign me up. I know of several retired people that worked in different industries that had their pension bought out and they made out like bandits.
  5. Why would the bump be exclusive to zones 1 & 2? Are there any pipefitters laid off in other zones that could excersise this option? I know it is seniority based but Michigan cannot be the only zone that has pipefitters on layoff.
  6. The only recent posting at Sterling for VD that i saw was for 5 people. Not exactly "alot". I have heard though that one will be posted soon for a more significant amount.
  7. Yes it is true for Sterling and Rawsonville but for Kentucky it is not. They had applicants for that plant because there were not enough volunteers from other Ford plants that wanted to go. They did the same at CAP. ACH will all be sold or closed soon so that wont matter. What will matter for ACH though is finding homes for the Ford employees that work there. With the investments in this contract, especially the added shifts at AAI and MAP, those workers will find a home. Plus I hear DTP is always hiring.
  8. I am pretty sure Ford still has a cap on entry level employees. Even if they do not, do you really think they will more than double the workforce to give entry level the majority in the next 4 years? Cmon man...
  9. The walkowicz disciples will kill any chance of this passing at 600.
  10. I agree with everything you just said. However, from what I am hearing today the no votes keep pouring in. I hope we don't strike. It's the dumbest thing we can do. I honestly do not believe that the majority is ready for a strike. Maybe they just think by voting no, they will just work it out. That.does not appear to be.the.case from what the news outlets are reporting.
  11. Who are they going to negotiate with? Ford will have no obligation to negotiate with the UAW if this gets voted down. Ford negotiated in good faith and together with the UAW presented a FAIR contract that still has Fords labor costs as being the highest of any auto manufacturer in the country. Ford may not even give the union the chance to strike, they may lock us out first. Replacement workers WILL be brought in and yes it will be tough for Ford at first but vendors will be called in for more technical jobs and the grunt work will be done by, well the grunt workers. Mulally has done this before at Boeing. Do not think for a second he will not do it at Ford. Can anyone on here recall a recent strike where the strikers actually came out ahead? The last two that I can remember were the DSO and American Axle and those did not really have a happy ending.
  12. Ok, so we know that MAP has narrowly voted against this agreement. Who votes today?
  13. Does anyone know what plants will be first to vote on this contract or the schedule for all the plants to vote?
  14. I think that the special items part can also work in our favor. When Ford has to pay money out for some things, these are special one time charges and can sometimes get quite large. This will not be deducted from the profits that our formula is based on. So it works both ways.
  15. I agree with this post though I do not think the majority of the posters on bon would agree. Ford still has the highest labor costs of all automakers so the UAW was able to sustain what we have monetarily For everyone that wants all concessions returned and are willing to vote no, what do you think will happen if we do vote no, go on strike, whatever...Sure we will gain something back but at what cost? In my opinion, you will see investments for Flat Rock and OHAP dry up. This is work from mexico!! This is a huge win. So yea, enjoy your 3% raise, COLA or whatever else you are willing to go out for but it will come at the expenses of more UAW jobs lost. I am sure this thread will go south real fast but oh well, fuck it, thats my opinion on things.
  16. This was on the wxyz detroit website. The entire contract plus unpublished letters. http://www.wxyz.com/dpp/news/region/detroit/local-uaw-leaders-will-be-in-detroit-to-review-and-vote-on-proposed-contract-with-general-motors
  17. http://www.freep.com/article/20110919/BUSINESS01/110919071/Sources-UAW-GM-labor-deal-add-save-6-000-jobs?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE A little more details frome the gm deal leaked to the press. I like this part.... the deal also includes a bonus that workers will receive every year, regardless of whether GM North America is profitable, with a portion of the bonus tied to quality
  18. . it's only a matter of time before $28 is out numbered by$14!!!! then what?? I asked this in another thread when some other guy made this stupid ass comment...Just how is this going to happen??? Do you have some inside info on how magically Ford will hire 40,000 entry level while exceeding the agreed upon cap? Even if they allowed unlimited hiring for four years do you really think Ford will double its workforce? Cmon man, get real!!!!
  19. Just how is that ever going to happen?
  20. What trades have the most working production? Are there alot of pipefitter, millwrights and machine repair out there in production land? I do think it would be only fair if they would allow in zone bumping for tradesman. I would like to think the UAW knows it dropped the ball on this one and will make things right this time around. At the very least, pay these guys their trade wages while they wait for a spot like at GM and Chrysler. Yes, I know they tried to add this to the last mods but lets face it, that turd was DOA.
  21. How many Ford left at Saline?
  22. Does this guy ever offer any solutions to anything or does he just like to rant?
  23. Whoever attends this please post what solutions they came up with. My guess is it will just be alot bitching and moaning and go a little something like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=768h3Tz4Qik
