  1. I ordered my SE Hatchback on Mar. 4 and was told because I insisted on having a (hole in the roof) Power Moon Roof with late availability, its going to be late July or Aug before it probably arrives. IMO , most vehicles look so much better with the tinted glass roof panel regardless if its open or shut and at $695., I think its a bargain as well! See that Boomerang is already got an aftermarket armrest available too at www.fiestaarmrest.com

  3. I agree with the windshield wiper/headlight automatic activation. Its the Law already in most states! Funny, simple changes in switches and wiring can be so helpful but yet most car manufacturers are slow to move it that direction. How many times have people forgot to shut their headlight off during the daytime when they were accidently left on due to rain and came back to their vehicles later to find a dead battery. It wasn`t until I bought an 06` Hyundai Sonata and 06` Kia Rio that I realized that Korean Auto manufacturers simply tied in the ignition off switch with the headlights as well. If you shut the engine off and removed the keys.....no headlights left on to drain the battery. Wow, now thats an idea!
  4. Dear Humble, I apologize for my assumptions! This whole subject was just my curiosity of why the NHTSA has yet to take a stand one way or the other on the DRL issue. I just think regardless of where you find yourself on whether or not there is (any) safety improvement achieved.....why not at least have some uniformity? Its not like having a rubber trim strip on a cars door to prevent parking lot dings. The Federal agency should finally either eliminate DRL`s after a certain date for USA vehicles (or) have Ford,Chrysler, and Nissan the only 3 holdouts I can think of, join the rest of the auto and truck world and as in "Genesis" Let there Be Light!
  5. Correct me if I`m mistaken, but was that a "Teabag" that you were attempting to drop in his (cup)? Let me either prepare some boiling water or ice cubes depending if your prefer your beverage served Hot or Cold! I`m so amused how protective (some) US citizens are of their sovereignty! Our friendly neighbors to the North, Canada have absolutely no interest in taking over and adopting US behavior or law. Although we all occupy what is commonly known as North America, we are in fact two Very different nations. I`d also include Mexico into this conversation but realize that would throw some "Teabaggers" into a complete fit considering that they too are part of North America. Chill out, know one is going to take away your guns or your stars and stripes! Imagine, most of Ford`s Fusion`s and Fiesta`s are being assembled with folks that probably can`t speak a word of English, yet the fit and finish of Mexican built vehicles are among Ford`s best! Si! .
  6. Perhaps in the very near future, they will be available as a accessory that can be ordered in the parts department! Depending on what is required for a (simple installation) add in another $125@hr for labor to have it installed. The VW Golf had an armrest available too as an after market option that could be ordered through the parts department.
  7. Go Figure....huh? If I could only bet a Greyhound like I can pick out a "Teabagger". You and the rest of Fox News Network and Shawn Hannity addicts don`t want (Socialized Health Care). What the hell do you think Medicare is when you collect Social Security? Going to refuse yours when you reach retirement age? Who you think pays (now) for the uninsured when they show up at the hospital ER? Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy? Medicaid picks up the tab for the un-insured! Joe Six-pac and your friend Joe the Plumber who were the last of the so called working middle class or now known as the "working poor" earn too much to qualify for Medicaid and are not (old) enough to qualify for Medicare! Those hospital and doctor bills for the un-insured are being paid for by you, me, and the rest of the US Tax Payers! There`s no Free Lunch! Like the man from" Fram" used to say, you can pay me now, or you`ll pay me later! Stop worrying about Socialism. Canada is a pretty happy and Free Nation. Joe MC Carthy has been dead for decades already. Stop the Commie witch hunt and there`s a Red under every bed! PS. If Marco Rubio wins the Senate seat and Bill McCullum wins the Governorship, Florida will become a third world Nation and become the new Haiti of the western hemisphere. Fortunately for me, I live in Monroe County in the Florida Keys and share NOTHING in common with the rest of the State except sales tax and license plates. PSS Higher taxes? All Tax rates including those of the ultra rich have either stayed the same or actually gone DOWN since Obama took office. Stop listening to the Wacko`s on Fox News! Otherwise, take your Zanex as prescribed! I`ll end this political rant immediately! Wow, all over an attempt to get some uniformity on DRL regulations! Opps, did it again, Tea Party (I`m originally from Massachusetts) think I know a bit about The Original Tea Party, or Teabaggers HATE the word Regulation. Think I`ll slash my seat and shoulder belts in protest! I hate air-bags too!
  8. With all due respect, I`m not sure if Glenn Beck, or Rush Limbaugh has stolen your Blue Oval Forum ID and posted this "Teabagger" Rant? I live in Florida where it is supposed to be always "sunny", you know....Sunshine State. Why Canada bothers you so much puzzles me? I know where I reside, know one is going to force (Metrics) on you! You can keep your MPH and not be forced into KPH. No one is attempting to change pounds to kilo`s or change temperature from F` to C`. As far as having to (follow) Another government regulation, I Agree! Just either mandate ALL vehicles in the USA have them or get rid of them all together. Just have some Uniformity. Yours truly, and have a pleasant day.
  9. It appears that the only consistent complaint that recent Auto Review pundits have had is the lack of a front seat armrest. This comfort item especially for the driver on long trips needs to be addressed. If not part of a trim or upgrade package, at least offer this as an aftermarket accessory that can be ordered through the dealerships parts department for aftermarket installation! And while your at it, have the vendor who is supplying the (hard) plastic knobs for the HVAC Controls to put some rubber trim on them. If your going to the expense and bother so have "soft touch" surfaces on most of the interior trim, why not give that same feel to the control knobs?
  10. I believe the same reasoning that has had Motorcycles equip with headlights on all the time to insure better visibility is the same rational for doing the same with motor vehicles. Here in the Florida Keys, on narrow Route 1, billboards along the highways proclaim, "Lights on for safety". On a sunny glare ridden road, it helps to identify an oncoming car in case your attempting to pass another vehicle. My only point in starting this DRL Blog was to get the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to FINALLY take a stand and have some uniformity and rule one way or the other that all cars and trucks sold in the USA are required to have DRL, daytime running lights or decide once and for all, they are useless/redundant and that after a certain date, NO vehicles sold in the USA can have DRL`s as standard equipment. This hodge/bodge of three quarters of cars and trucks have DRL`s and twenty five percent don`t..mainly Ford, Chrysler & Nissan, doesn`t make sense. Once and for all take a stand, its either a good idea for safety or its a bad idea. NHTSA should finally indicate some direction on the matter. Its only been over two decades to get the data together!
  11. First of all, I want to make perfectly clear, I`m not a Ford basher. I`ve owned dozens of Fords over the years from Mustangs to Escorts to Focus`s to Explorers. I`m awaiting my 2011 Ford Fiesta 5 door hatchback I ordered the first of Mar. That said, any bashing of Hyundai or Kia is both stupid and pointless. Both car manufacturers have raised the bar for ALL car manufacturers to strive for. Their quality control, fit and finish are as good if not better then anyone else. Combine that with affordability, a 5 year/60K bumper to bumper warranty ( fully transferable) and a 10 year 100K power train warranty, you have a powerful combination. I currently own a 06` Hyundai Sonata and a 06` Kia Rio5 SX 5 door hatchback. Both cars have performed perfectly and neither has required but one or two visits back to a dealership for warranty work in over 4 years of service. The new 2011/2012 Hyundai Accent (Verna) released at the Beijing China Auto Show is going to be a huge hit when it finally gets to North America. Like they say, "You`ve Come a Long Way Baby", Hyundai and its sister company Kia have done a complete 180` turn-a-around since it hit our shores in 1977/1978 with the Hyundai Excel, which excelled at absolutely nothing. Good competition will keep Ford on top of its game with new improved product innovation. Thanks to Ford Europe for helping to "push the envelope a bit too".
  12. So far the only (real) complaint of a tweak for the new 2011 N.A. version of the Ford Fiesta is that they should immediately change the (hard plastic knobs) on the heating/ac controls with a rubber soft feel ones. That should be a quick and cheap fix that could be done immediately as well as the "font" change on the SYNC screen.
  13. Opps, guess I`ve been driving Japanese and Korean Cars too long with Power Moon Roofs. I`ve never had a failure, but it seems like a good idea to have a back up lever to crank it shut if it ever failed.
  14. Just curious, the page showing operation of the Power Moon Roof and the two switches, one for opening and closing and the other for tilt and close, no mention of a default crank lever for manual closure in case of electrical or motor failure? Most vehicles have a "fail-safe" crank included in case of such an event!
  15. Some kind of error message TSO Online. Using OS X Safari and an iMac? I give up!
  16. Nope...neither of those 2 Links will open. Says access limited to password etc? Says you need permission to access that site?
  17. I did`nt realize I`d set off such a fire storm over my post favoring Apple technology over the Microsoft Windows platform....wow! Anyhow, since I switched over to Apple iMac 10 years ago, I`ve never looked back with (any) remorse! I`m happy I was able to opt for the $595 cash credit on my ordered 2011 Ford Fiesta for the SYNC and use it towards the Power Moon Roof which was only $695. For a mere extra $100. I got the "hole in the roof" instead of a useless technology that I would never use!
  18. No mention of the 2011 Ford Fiesta being featured at the NY Auto Show either and its ready to roll of the assembly line starting Mon Apr. 26....JOB 1 Date?
  19. I think Ford should consider scraping its Microsoft connection and team up with Steve Jobs and his Apple Team instead! Windows 7 (it`s NOT my idea), will eventually also end up on the scrap pile of other Window versions as well. I can`t figure it out, The entire world is in love with iPhones, iPods, iTablets, and iMacs. When will people just take that "Leap of Faith", dump their PC`s and convert once and for all to Apple. Happiness is never to see the Blue Screen of Death again, informing you that YOU have committed another "fatal error". Too me, a real "fatal error" is either a heart attack or stroke, not a frozen computer screen!
  20. The US "NHTSA" should finally make a decision one way or the other on DRL`s! I personally think its a valid safety feature having lived in Canada and based on the Canadian Governments experiences. However, this patch work of allowing car manufacturers to sell vehicles in the USA either with or without DRL`s is stupid. Declare once and for all, its either a good idea or its a bad idea. Mandate or eliminate DRL`s period. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has deemed DRL`s like a door edge guard or a doors side trim panel that avoid dings in parking lots. Its time to have some direction and uniformity! Like Nike says....Just Do It!
  21. A lot of good that will do an individual who orders 1 vehicle for their own personal use. Can you get a valid FIN code for a Fleet of (one)?
  22. Well, that said if there is absolutely NO safety benefit, why do Motorcycles ALL have DRL`s? Ever drive down Route 1 through the Florida Keys on that narrow 2 lane road? The billboard signs along the highway remind drivers....Light`s On For Safety! I know, just another one of those liberal socialist agenda items us left wingers are trying to push on the American people. Next it will be to take away your Guns!
  23. If the new 2011 Ford Fiesta being assembled an built by Spanish speaking Mexicans in a Ford Plant south of the border puts you undershorts in a "bunch", wait till I inform you the the new I4 engine is being built in Brazil in South American and then being shipped up to Mexico for installation. Si Amigo...lol!
  24. When will Ford finally take that huge "leap of faith" and finally install DRL`s on all Ford vehicle for its North American market, not just for Canada alone? I know that Canadian laws many years ago mandated that all vehicles sold in Canada have Day Time Running Lights as a safety feature. Now, most vehicles sold new in the US also have DRL`s installed by almost every manufacturer both foreign and domestic with the (2) lone exceptions being Ford and Chrysler. How much more costly would it be to have the same wiring harness installed in all cars and trucks coming down the same assembly line? Every new Ford vehicle I have purchased beginning with a 94` Mustang, 98 Escort,01`Focus,04 Explorer, I`ve had to purchase through the Ford dealers parts department, a genuine FMC DRL module/relay which needed to be hard wired and spliced into the wiring harness. The module cost was but $70. or less but it required over 2 hours labor charge to install at the dealership. Something that would have cost merely dollars and cents to install on the assembly line ends up costing almost $300. as an after purchase installation. Just build in this important safety device when the cars and trucks are built. If for some reason, someone does not want the DRL`s activated, make a simple default mode or remove a dedicated fuse and deactivate the feature!
