  1. It's your ac fan (the one cooling the unit at the radiator). Drive your car with climate off, then when you turn off your car, verify you no longer hear it. Remember, this fan is always on when your climate is set to auto as well.
  2. Gary, I have the $75 doller option mats that I initially didn't want but were on my Ex on the dealer lot. After this winter, I'm glad I have them as they trapped anthing that was brought into the vehicle and kept it off of the carpet. They are very high quality and clean up very easily. I highly recommend them.
  3. last tank averaged 19 with mix of city and highway. The dash computer registers mid 20's on the highway, so the numbers did come up a little bit. I have not had a dedicated highway trip more than 20 miles, so I have not been able to manually calculate the highway milage.
  4. Gary, Just to reconfirm, is you Ex 4 wheel drive or just front wheel drive? You mentioned FWD but have the trailer tow package which I thought was exclusive to four wheel drive Ex's. I'm just comparing apples to apples (my Ex MPG' s to your Ex's MPG's). Tom
  5. Gary, I have an interest on this subject. I looked at your MPG log and couldn't help but notice your tire PSI was bumped to 51psi, did I read correctly? I noticed this gave you a 3 mpg bump, but how confident are you of the safety factor? Also, is your Ex 4wd/FWD, trailer tow package etc? Tom
  6. Your further description of the sound (driver side at high speeds) sounding like a drone or tires is right on the money with my sound. I don't have the flapping sound mentioned near your wipers though. My Ex is an XLT. I'm not sure of the cowl area you're referring to. I'll check out your pics when you send them and compare it to mine. Is yours (Reddogrex) also an XLT/4WD/Trailer package? Mine is also not constant, only 60-70% of the time, perhaps when I'm driving into the wind? I'll have to keep a closer eye on it and let you know.
  7. I'll throw my experience in here. I picked mine up 2 weeks ago and overall love the vehicle. It's very very quiet, has about the same punch as my old 2002 4.0L certainly not a race car, but I knew it when I test drove one. The technology is out of this world and I'm still learning new things this SUV does everyday. I love the looks of both the interior and exterior and recieve compliments from friends and strangers. Several cons however. I have the exact same noise Reddogrex mentioned so I'm a litle more at ease hearing it's just not my vehicle. Reddodrex, let us know what the dealer tells you, I too think it's wind noise as mine is only prevelant over 55-60 mph and is definitely not engine rpm related. Possible transmission noise since it's left front? I have the trailer tow package and also wonder if it's the wind hitting the grill opening to the transmission cooler. Second con and I menioned it before here is the height of getting in the vehicle (I'm only 5'10) without side steps like the previous generations, but again, I knew this before handing over my money and prefer the look of the Ex without it. Another "I knew it before I bought it" item is the width of the vehicle is 6" wider than my 2002 and makes a very tight fit getting into my garage. My opening is 92" and I believe the overall width of the Ex is 89" with the mirrors. Lastly and my biggest complaint was the alignment quality of my driver door. I took it back to the dealer I bought it from and they adjusted it but not to my satisfaction. I have an appointment Tuesday at a dealer near my work to take care of it once and for all. I saw some Edges on other forums had the same issues so it might be something for Ford to study a little bit better. I am picky, but a $38,000 vehicle shouldn't leave the factory this way. All in all, still no regrets buying it.
  8. mirrors can only be folded manually, but on the limited, yo can get the power fold option. It is a tight squeeze into my garage with the extended.
  9. Filled up my first tank today........17.8 MPG all backroad driving and lot's and lot's of idling playing with the new features. I'm not 100% positive on this calculation since there was 25 miles on it when I picked it up, not sure if the dealer filled up the tank all the way an how much of the first 25 miles came from that fill up. I'll post my second tank MPG's. Hoping my average comes to 20 MPG. My 2002 everyday average was 16.5.
  10. johnboy, the blind spots are larger than on the previous generation in te rear quarters. I knew this before the purchase and am still getting used to it. The mirrors are larger than on my 2002 so that makes a big difference as well as the fisheye mirror on those mirrors. The rear view camera and alarm is a large help backing out of a parking spot. So far, we put on 300 miles since picking it up and love every minute in it. I'll post MPG from the 1st tank when I fill up in a day or two. So far, if I have one complaint is the getting in and out of the vehicle without the side steps that my 2002 had. My 4 year old daughter struggles getting in and out too. Still trying to post pictures.
  11. The door can be opened at all times if thecar is locked and unlocked. I'm curious if it can be syphened as well! Can anyone tell me ho to post a picture. When use the click to attach files, browse and select my picture, nothing comes up.
  12. I'll try to upload some, not sure if this works or not.
