  1. I wasn't aware you could watch movie directly from the an USB or SD card. This would require MyFord Touch to have codecs to play them (and it may just have some). I looked this up in the MyFord Touch manual and it says voice commands using video are only available to the USB and not the SD card. It still doesn't say which types of movies it plays (AVI, MOV, MP4, MPG, etc) if any.
  2. It took my brochure a good 2 weeks, maybe a little more, to show up. It's my understanding that the $750 incentive is entered into Ford's system with your name immediately before the brochure is sent out. This way, not everybody can just walk into the dealership and ask for it.
  3. Mine was supposed to be built on 2/3, the day after the big storm when nobody could get to work. I was hoping the plant would only be down 1 day so mine would still ship this weekend. No such luck. Figures after over 5 months of waiting this would happen on the home stretch. My delivery date was a mere 4 days later on 2/7 being so close to Chicago. Talk about BS.
  4. While it "may" be available to everyone, you're not guaranteed $750 off. I tried this myself, buying in 0-30 days and only got the same crappy APR rates they already have, no $750 rebate. I pre-ordered in September and my Explorer was supposed to be built yesterday or today depending on how much productivity was lost with the snow storm. I applied again for the brochure, this time sending one to my parents, my wife's condo and me again. Not sure if Ford's system will 1) send me another one or 2) give me my parents (should give me my wife's) assuming they get the $750 off. I also heard it was territory dependent, not sure if this is true.
  5. It's beginning, soon to be mid, January and there are STILL no updates. I set off a fairly lengthy discussion on the facebook page around how pre-orders work and the Ford rep flat-out said they are not done in order (first in, first out). He said all retail orders (pre-orders) are randomly chosen and then put into the main batch of fleet/dealer stock/employee vehicles. I'm fine with the main mix, but also choosing pre-orders randomly is just........ well I'm speechless. Basically there is no reason to ever pre-order a vehicle from Ford. Just wait for what you want to show up on a lot near you because your chances of that happening sooner than your pre-order getting randomly picked-up is higher. I'm proof of this.
  6. Ford rep on the facebook page said the following: Customer Jay any info yet on the question from Monday on how long it will take them to get through orders? I forget the exact wording. Jay Sorry for the delay so here goes lots of info! We have 806 vehicles in dealer stock. We have 4,501 in transit as we speak. We have total retail orders of 3,813. We have total dealer orders of 21,224 of which 12,698 have been built or are scheduled to be built. All of the retail orders have been scheduled and will be built between 10 January and end of February. Sorry for all the detail, but hope that helps. Customer Jay you mentioned all of the retail orders have been scheduled to be built. I placed my order 10th December and still just says order processing and no Vin or build date has been scheduled. Does this mean mine will not be built in Jan or Feb? Really trying to figure this out as I was told 6-8 weeks before my down payment and then 8-12 weeks after I paid. Jay These orders should be loaded in the next week of so we would hope and you will then get a week of build. ---------------------------------------- I take it that "retail orders" are pre-orders? Can anyone confirm that? If so, I'm in the same boat as the customer (most of us are). I have no build date yet he says all retail orders have been scheduled? Maybe I'll finally get some news next week. The huge delay right now is the fact that the factory has been shutdown for 3 weeks from Xmas week until next Monday 1/10. I can understand 1 or 2 weeks shutdown but 3?! Especially with new models rolling out at the beginning of the year?
  7. Forgot to mention that I've seen ALL trim levels for the new Explorer on dealer lots (online I mean). Base, XLT and Limiteds, so the "they are only building X trim level" comments I've seen on forums is not true. At best, they built loaded Limiteds to get in dealer showrooms for wow factor. From chatting with a Ford customer support rep, I was told that when new models come out, the dealerships that get priority are the ones that have 1) high volume (duh) and 2) highest customer satisfaction and finally 3) areas where that model has sold well. With this in mind, I'm happy to announce the largest city in my state, with 4 Ford dealerships within 30 miles JUST got their first batches, in the system (not on the lot), just last week. Pretty pathetic if we're keeping score. According to the Facebook Ford rep, over 500 have been sold as of last week and the largest city in my state has 0 on the lot. Who doesn't find that spit-in-your-face hilarious?
  8. I can totally sympathize with OP. I ordered my XLT on September 3rd after 2 weeks of delaying (no time to stop at the dealership with new car sales closing at 5). Additionally my wife and I had been looking at the usual suspects, Acadia, Enclave, Highlander, a good 5 months BEFORE the announcement of the new Explorer. Then the Explorer came out, asked our local dealer about it and was told November at the earliest, late December realistically. To this day I have no build date, no VIN, nothing, not even a phone call/email/smoke signal from the dealership about it. I finally broke down last week and called the dealership and 3 days later my salesman finally called me back on it. He assured me they place pre-orders before dealer stock because they "want to see them on the road to generate buzz" but I kid-you-not, the very next day I checked Ford's inventory website and that dealership finally got their first order on the way, 2 XLT's and 1 Limited, none of which were mine. Meanwhile I found my exact model a mere 2.5 hour drive away. If my wife wasn't so insistent on waiting I'd have canceled my order and gotten that at least 2 months earlier. Between this forum and 2 others along with the Explorer facebook page I haven't missed much, seen everything, know all specs, it's honestly pathetic. I had hoped to be able to drive it for HALF of this winter but that's already missed. Spring starts in March here and the worst of the snow is passed. The annual holiday travels were a pain in the butt this year, good thing I don't have any kids (5 more months at least), I really could have used the 4WD and extra space in the Explorer. The large AWD sedan couldn't cut it between luggage, presents, baked goods, emergency sand/salt/blankets. I had planned on bringing my snow gear to help my father in-law dig out but......... no room. In the end, I'm fine with waiting. I waited 8 months for my last new vehicle (limited number made, rare car) and my current daily driver is 16 years old so please don't lecture me on patience when buying new. The thing that gets me is the pre-orders AFTER mine that are getting build dates. People who ordered 2-3 MONTHS after me are getting theirs before me. How is this fair? And yes, I'm aware that Ford tries to "mix it up" making a combination of dealer stock, pre-orders, test units, etc but there is no excuse for the pre-order system NOT being FIFO (first in first out) REGARDLESS of allocations, priorities and if you're name is Bill Gates. In the end, it seems we're tied to our dealership's allocation which is just wrong. I've learned my lesson and honestly will never order another vehicle, from any manufacturer, ever again unless it's a rare, custom, 500 built, super-car. Why should I pre-order when I can get the same trim/options on a just-off-the-truck model 2-3 months earlier? Where's the incentive there? Sure, I'll drive 2-3 hours to pick it up, hell, Chicago is a 4 hour drive from me, I could have picked it up from the factory, spared myself the dealer overhead. Anyone remember those days when you could buy directly from the factory? Here's a basic analogy. Black Friday, you're one of the crazy ones out shopping, you were able to get your 90" LCD TV for $100 dollars (after $3000 mail-in rebate of course) and are standing in the incredibly, insanely long line to pay. It's ok, you'll wait, you got a nice deal there. An hour later you notice a couple strangers cutting towards the front of the line, ahead of you. You're patient and like to think you're a good person, so you say nothing, turn the other cheek. 20 minutes later you see 4 more people cut in line and checkout before you. The line is barely moving, in fact, you're sure it's getting bigger at this point. You can see where I'm going from here so I digress. Regarding the comment on how luxury brands treat their customers, I would agree, they generally do treat you better (wife drives a Lexus, have driven a BMW). This should NOT be based on volume but solely on amount of money spent. If I buy a $45K Lexus I expect the same treatment as buying a $45K Ford. Call me crazy. Ok, I'm done. Misery loves company so I had to add my 2 cents.
  9. Wrong forum post, as you were. Love the new Explorer.
