  1. . This action was only for a couple weeks to work on PM's. Most plants have a supplemental list for MW or Carpenters, nothing new .There is a task that needs attention and instead of bringing in an outside contractor to do the work for a couple of weeks, they have a supplemental list in the plant.
  2. I didn't say anything about a strike, but don't be so sure of yourself on that! Ford has been pretty cocky and they still think that can do whatever they want because of the status of the economy. Unfortunately they have not stopped giving big bonuses to their salaried and because of this arrogance we will be asking for a little more. They can only play the uncompetitive card for so long. while GM and Chrysler can not get any increases in pay without going to arbitration, Ford does not have that luxury, but will be asking for it. There are other ways to get money out of them without giving the other 2 companies an advantage. I am sure the IUAW and negotiators will be tactful enough to throw some of their arrogance back into their faces!
  3. The language already exists in the form of a letter when they were brought into ACH.
  4. You will have the opportunity to run and get elect at the facility you transfered from when taking a temp posting. This is not a call that would come locally. I believe their elections are next year and all temporary loans shouldl be in a Ford facility by this time, either by volunteer permanent openings or mandatorily placed in zone!.
  5. Is there any monroe people still working at KCAP?
  6. Wow, do you really think that the UAW is the one taking from you? Last I checked the company would take everything away from you if they could. What we need to do is make sure that the company is striving and healthy and then get back some of the things that we gave up to save our jobs. We have lost over 40,000 jobs in the past 6 years. Do you think that the UAW did this? If we do nothing we will be around 34000 this time next year. We can demand $80 dollar an hour jobs and hold the company's feet to the fire, but at the end of the day if they have to source out most of the work because they couldn't afford the $80 dollar jobs then what good did we do. We have kept a tough line in the past but we did so while losing over 40,000 good paying jobs. We need to do our parts and get out in the streets to help get candidates in office that support the working families of American and to also help organize shops that take advantage of their workers. The UAW is not just about the Big 3, it is about improving the way of living for all working families. I would just ask, have you done your part to help? Go to rally's, get out in the street to help get candidates elected, talk to people about our movement, this is how we get power. This isn't going to happen over a message board! Every organization has flaws, our problem is that we do not organize together, we would rather blame our problems on each other instead of the company! Ruether and members in the past took to the streets agains corporations, politicians for big business, working families.....not to fight against our own organization. Solidairity brothers and sisters. Lend a hand in helping save a movement!
  7. Actually, Ford Motor company's plan has not changed, they plan to sell or close these facilities. The UAW stepped in to try a force Ford's hand into selling them instead of closing them. The company already had the language in the agreement to do so. Fortunately or unfortunately the economy fell apart and Ford did not have the cash to close these facilities. Monroe sold part of the business before the colapse, but the other part of the business was sourced to an outside supplier. Ypsi plant was sourced to an outside supplier, Rawsonville gobbled up some of the product, but majority got sourced. Indy plant has been sourced to TRW. The Milan plant is almost sold, but parts of that plant were also sourced to other suppliers! These plants had 1000-1500 people in them not too long ago. Ford Motor is the only one of the big 3 to still have these parts plants and want them gone. Yes, they are probably making money, but has not put any investment/engineering or upgrades in them. They want to use this money in other areas of the company. They would rather use that money to refresh a program, engineering in other areas and on new technology. So if I were giving someone advise, it wouldn't be "don't believe they will do it, but believe they have done it. If there is a location you are interested you better jump on it, if not stay around, but realize you may have to sit on the street collecting SUB/TAP until you find a home! Please make your educationed decision based on your own personal situation and not someone giving their opinion. Good luck!
  8. It is the company's job to make sure members are notified of job postings. The R&E was filled with-in the zone and was not posted outside of zone1. There were 6 openings at CAP and those pipefitters on ILO or temp. loan from ILO were surveyed to see if they were interested.
  9. There is actually truth to both.....this is a contract year and if you check history and the big 3 they usually ramp up to about 115-130 day supply of cars (might be a little off). Volumes have also picked up substantially and spring time is usually a good time to buy a car!!
  10. Those ACH temporary members will be afforded the opportunity to run for Executive Board Jobs only. Those members temporarily loaned into the plant will only be able to vote and run in their base locations or locations that they were loaned from!
  11. Actually this is the agreement between Ford/ACH/UAW. "Preferential Hire Consideration-Visteon Temporary Employees" states that "Visteon temporary Employees at ACH facilities not hired by a potential new buyer at their current ACH facility will be give preferential hire rights at other ACH facilities based on their length of employment at an ACH facility. ACH will centeralize the preferential hiring process by consolidating names of Visteon Temporary Employees not hired by a potential new buyer. PS.Devon, new cleaning company, and Devon "reload" are under 2 different contracts. Devon "reloads" could not be ACH employees because they would have lost their pension supplement. So they had to be paid by a different company but fall under the same rules as ACH employees.
  12. Not really politics, there just has been no agreement to bring skilled trades in temporarily into ACH facilities.
  13. Saline today is in a difficult state with members, from all over the country, working there that have came from plants with different overtime/scheduling/work rules. This makes it difficult to put your hands around since they are working under their local agreement and not the local agreements of those who are loaned in. So yes, it is different and if you are not used to the Saline contract it could make your transition into the plant a little difficult. We just got to remember that this situation was created in order to keep the members off the street and eating into their sub/tapp since GEN has been suspended. They also have the same situation with the salaried folks, many come from different plants and are not familular with the Saline local agreement and they do things that may have been ok to do under the contracts of the plants that they came from. This would be tough on any committee to police, but this falls on the laps of the company HR department to train these supervisors. This is why they brought in a new HR manager (who will be leaving soon). Learning pains are never no good for anyone, but until the chirning stops in the plant, this will still be a issue for awhile.
  14. How cool is this?? Former Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello will headline the "Rally for Wisconsin's Workers" "I really think that the future of the rights of working people in this country is not going to be decided in the courts," Morello, "It's not going to be decided in Congress or radio talk shows. The future of rights of working people in this country will be the fight on the streets of Madison, Wisconsin."
  15. Not sure if they are or not, I do know that here in Michigan we could not get the teachers or retirees on Board with Virg and Snyder just came out with his budget which is going to tax retiree pensions and cut $450 dollars per student in the school system. Can't say we were not warned about this guy but the citizens of America better wake up.
