  2. Yes, Grant and a few of our younger Rep`s came together and used the contract language properly!!!!! I love to see this happening also!!!! Grant is here at CAP, not at CHSP. Decker 1 of the 1788
  3. Born in Chicago? Then you`ll know where 103rd & Wentworth Ave is. I learned how to stand up right there in that part of Roseland (Pullman). Yep, heard stories about the nazi van. They would turn off the shit about a block away from my Grandfather`s hot dog stand at 79th & Halsted. (David Berg Hotdog`s) After they stopped and got their dog`s with the secret sauce, they would take their Mr. Pibb`s and Berg dogs get back in their van and at about 80th & Halsted they would turn their shit back on.... You need a yellow vest.... take one. Hell, take a box of the dam vests. Sell a couple of them and take the money and buy a dozen of dunkin`s best and drop them off at the guard shack.... Give them the Chicago special touch. Sounds like you might need to spend a little time back home... remember how Chicago works? remember how the CPD works? Security Guard`s.... rent a cop`s thats all. I`ve learned something, you don`t read much and it`s ok to read your shit. Oh, you did mention you spent time in Chicago. Ever process through 26th & California? Decker 1 of the 1788
  4. Fatso, come on... I have been doing this stand up thing for a few years. (elected/appointed) I`ve had to do the humiliation song and dance many times... many times. I have had members stand right next to me, when making their point to management, just to have the members look at management and take their side in the discussion. Or watch as members give their self up for the taking, even in a situation that was completely win able. Then there are the situations that make every time I have had to start dancing or ask for fries with that shit sandwich, you know the situation where a LRO Rep is not only wrong but can`t see that the person sitting across from their desk is a human being. Then minutes after the discussion wtih the LRO Rep and the member is given much less or not given any discipline at all. Then the time when we went to one shift and all the problems our members went through. All the phone calls made, getting members directed to the right agencies, taking members to local churches and even showing up at court, for moral support, just to state for the record that the man (member) was and had been on lay off for over 9 monthes and was fighting to retain visitation rights. All the time I had members complaining "you spend to much time at the hall". On two occasions, a member put a motion on the flood to stop me from being at the hall so much. (both times the motion was unsuccessful) All in all, it was all worth it (the standing up) because of the look on the members face or the thank you`s from their kindala and family members, that makes up for everything else. Over the years I have had the privilege of not only holding positions but, having the ablity to learn the other side of the coin. That other side of the coin or knowledge of how it works is what finally made me stop caring about being anything more than a local level Rep. Not real sure I want to do that either. Like you Fatso, I too have a family (grown now) and have, with the help of my business partners (IUAW and Ford), put food in their mouthes and a roof over their heads. I like you and so many others just want to be treated like something more than a cost factor, equipment or liability. Also so many just want to be treated as a business partner in a fair manner. Most just want the DAM contract to be abided by. So if you agree that there is a Fatso at DTP and a Decker at CAP that are similar and then realize that there are 10`s of thousands other UAW members that are just as similar to those two trouble makers (Fatso & Decker) You won`t need a guinea pig (Decker) packing up and taking a drive on 94. Only when the members become aware that they have to stand up, will things start to get better. Most cases were the membership will have to stand up the membership has to realize that in most cases they are standing up against two fronts. IUAW and Ford. The one thing that is becoming more and more appearent and a very useful tool "communication"!!!! The knowledge of what the hell they (Ford & IUAW) are doing at the different plants is their biggest fear. There is no need for a Decker at DTP or a Fatso at CAP we just have to communicate. We have younger members teaching older memebers how to text. There are members that get together to just ..... discuss issues. This is what I believe is making things different at CAP. Communicate, communicate and then communicate some more..... Fatso, you and I have agreed on many issues and once again I agree with you a 100%, when it comes to opening up the contract. I like so many at CAP think we haven`t seen anything yet.... the next negociations may be a real "eye" opener. I dont refer to those two pretty blue peepers...... Hang in there young brother, hang on to hope... and communicate!!!! Decker 1 of the 1788
  5. Now ...Fatso.... and a whisle too?? I would like to make one thing just a little clearer. Yes, we had our Chairman and a small group of Rep`s act on the " I`M THE BOSS" type of attitude we see so offend from those in management that most offend don`t have a clue or experience in the position they hold. (Mr. Wells??) But, we are still experiencing the cool or cold feet from some of our Rep`s. When this situation was being acted on the text messages were flying..... some, I`m sure from management to UAW rep`s and I`m sure there were the text messages from UAW Rep`s to management. We will have those that think its better to hold off and let the company do as they see fit. We also have the shoot`em all and let G-D sort them out.... mentality. But, I see this group that we have at CAP looking at the way they represent the members as a business, a carryover from the recent past. In business the give and take is good for all unless its one sided. Like so oftend it has been, here at CAP. But, this group of younger Rep`s is looking at equality for the membership. (something we have needed for some time at CAP) So, yes we had a strong group of Rep`s stroll down to the floor with the Chairman and to all those text messages and questions, I don`t know where the other Rep`s went? Take it from one that has had the privilege of climbing down into the companies back yard ready to fight, it can be very intimidating and yes scary..... but, give those Rep`s time. Those that come out next time ready to back up the contract to the memberships benefit will be the Rep`s you want in our corner. Hope.... it`s the one thing that we all need. Decker 1 of the 1788
  6. The last scheduled day of production prior to a holiday (vacation) is a 10 hours schedule. Yes, our Chairman shut the line down. Yes, our Chairman expressed to the off shift manager that even on an AWS the language is still in place. Yes, the off shift manager was pissed and did call our security. The security team showed up but, stated they would not be able to act on the request to remove a Chairman from the plant. Our Rep`s have been showing that "yes" its still Ford Motor Co. but, the Rep`s have been making the company abide by the agreement. Our Chairman has been using more and more of his resources when it comes to checking with his Rep`s and members before just going along with the flow. We have had Trades members that have not been screwed out of their mid-night shift premium. The company wanted to "help" the Trades by starting them at 6:30pm instead of the agreed 7pm..... Then the company saw nothing wrong with allowing a contractor (ESI) to come on site with out proper paperwork and clearance.... Now the 10.7 manditory demand.... We have District committeepersons that are standing up to the company when they start stating that our people "will", "better" and "have too".... Then the "Vacation" schedule....the company could not make the decision on who was and who wasn`t going to work. Our Rep`s stood up to to last minute crap and those that were on the list to work and were told last week they had no work available, will receive SWW benefit for this week. Yes the list goes on. In some eyes these are small examples of achievements by our chair and our group of rep`s we have now. All I can say, those that can`t see the hope in these rep`s are more or less wanting the rep`s to fail for their own personal reasons (election time) or just plain ass haters. Young members and old members confiding in each other, members letting members know what is going on in other departments and members having open communication with their Chairman and Rep`s. Sure is a good feeling to see this happening. It has been a long time since this type of thing (solidarity) has occupied CAP. Decker Still thankful to have a job..... even more thankful for respect. 1 of the 1788
  7. DTPrt !!! I never thought of it that way!!! maybe the boys and girls in marketing can work with your idea "HAND MADE" oh yah, I can see it now..... "Ford... Hand Built Your Way" Outstanding!!! idea DTPrt Decker 1 of the 1788
  8. Sir, General, Sir. I don`t think it is hate as in "dam I wish the General would just ....?" I don`t think it`s hate, like in, I just dont like the General because he is "Black, White, Muslim or Jew" or any number of the other completely senseless hateful reasons. I mean, really this is a blind type of medium. Can`t see a face and even if someone posts a face well, is it the true face of the poster? or what ever we are called that write to this board.... As for the hating of what you post? the truth? Well, if that is the case you are in some really good company. They (meaning in general and not the General, Sir) hated what Lincoln had to say. They hated what Martin had to say. Then there was the hate from their own people and supporters. There was a much loved Rabbi in N.Y. that many thought of as one of great knowledge and was held very high by almost everyone of his Temple members. But, there were those that thought the Rabbi spoke the truth to often and sometimes spoke of things that some of his fellow Jews thought could bring the membership of his Temple to much attention or would ade those that would do them harm. So yes even the Rabbi was hated to some extent by his own people. So General I can not say why people hate, people do at times, things that have no common sence or reason. On this board we all have our fans and well lets just say "non" fans. This brings me back to your question. Hate because of the truth.... I really believe its not hate, in its turest form. Irritating, to some maybe. The ability to touch someones sore spot. Or maybe the way a response is worded, can bring out a little resentment..... But, Hate? naa I don`t thik so. Now to others your exchanges with BigForker and LongCountry can be real entertaining. But I think they may see or feel just a little resentment or the ictching of some irritating exchanges and you have it down to a science when it comes to that touching of those sore spots.... So after filling to many lines of this post with good old fashion and boring....reason. To hell with the hate talk General!!!! take NO prisoners!!!! Touch all those sore spots!!! Make`em itch with your type of irritant!!! Your..... THE GENERAL!!!! Waiting to be entertained Decker 1 of the 1788
  9. Oh yeah, one other thing General, if you know anyone at DTP thats wants to be a supper dupper supervisor... the call has gone out again. The postings have been put up all over the plant. CAP`s HR is considering anyone...... If you would consider starting at 39K and can say "eyedoeno" you to could be apart of the few, the proud, and the brave souls that want to lead CAP into the..... abiss Time to repair the donuts!!! Decker 1 of the 1788
  10. Thanks General, for the wake up call. We have more work then we know how to repair.... park`em here.. park`em there.... Strong possibility no down week for the north end of the plant. But, I`ll make that money now, then head down to see Mom and Dad, then back out west !!!! I love being able to call the shots on all my time off. Brings back found memories. Back when the place was full of kids working the summer before heading back to school. When their time was up and school was calling, many had the same thoughts.... Dam!!! how do those people do that shit EVERYDAY!!!!! FOREVER??? Now, things are different they dont come in for just the summer. No they have high hopes. But, for a large group of them they didn`t wait till the end of summer.... nope, they had the same thoughts as those kids back in the day, "Dam!!! how do those people do that shit EVERYDAY!!! FOREVER???then it only took a day or two to come up... MIA.. We see some movement to opening up the gates and letting another heard in to see if they like our surroundings. I have heard that NO ONE in the Trades wants to come to CAP so we are doing the next best thing, they sent some cowboys out to the Tinley Hospital to round up a heard of the inmates and bring`em back. But, all and all things are running normal for CAP. Yep, its kinda like a horse race, "slow to decide" is closing in on "EyeDoeNo" but "Slippery Stupid" is leading by a head.... How`s things working out at your beloved place of employment? Decker still thankful to have a job... 1 of the 1788
  11. Maybe else where but, at CAP it dosen`t work that way. During our 7 X 12 run we had members with very little time working in pre-delivery doing the 7 X 12`s and they had someone else carry their check because of their lifting restriction..... At CAP, a restriction is your key to the city, a get out of jail free pass and how would you like a second helping of OT...... Decker
  12. We seem to be doing the storage lot shuffle again... as long as they have 4 wheels on them push them off the line. (fix it later) Sometimes even the wheels are the wrong ones. But hell, got the numbers we need!!!! We are shipping the darn things 24 hours a day. It is a really good unit. Everybody seems to like it and though the Jeep looks just like it we keep out selling the Jeep. The new Explorer Sport really looks good and the big V6 really makes it move. I like it. The new 2013.5 Taurus turbo I4 is interesting too. It moves great for being a 4 banger. The gas mileage will sell itself on this one. Sure hope the management team dosen`t screw it up.... Because if they start to screw things up.... i know who to call ! He has straightened out stupid shit before. The... General!!! Decker 1 of the 1788
  13. Our former plant manager was the instuctor for that course.... he had it down to a science. Our garage guy would get the call then snap into action. Next thing you would see he had the VIP buggy washed and waxed then parked it at the bottom of the plant managers stairway. Then strolling down the stairs and looking the part of a south side king, off he would ride.... But, his abilities were not over looked.... No, the powers that be saw something, yep something that made our former plant manager a "Die Rector"..... I guess the riding around looking at women does pay off.... Decker 1 of the 1788
  14. Nope, I went through the 12 steps and stopped being one of those......
  15. I don`t know about missing anyone but I do miss your way of running and/or controling some of the posts. In the way that only the General can. It was some time ago but I remember you had someone all tied up in knots and the person was all but, kicking and scratching at every post. and the responce that had me rolling on the floor was " bow down to me..." All I could see, was this person sitting there reading your responce with the top of their head blowing wide open... :hysterical2: . Now thats entertainment!!!! Keep up the great work. I see your handy work on the Ontario thread, Dam your good. Or should I say "Sir, dam your good, Sir" Decker 1 of the 1788
  16. That wit... that wisdom.... Dam good to have the General back on the board!!! Decker 1 of the 1788
  17. You are so correct. We have close to 1400 2nd tier members and more on the way. Labor cost alone has put CAP at the top/bottom of the list when comes to the operating costs. Labor per unit cost has to be at the lowest or close to the lowest in the company. We have in the recent past run the proto types (144 units) for the 2013 Fusion. The measurements have been taken, the units have been put through our automation and we have proven we too will be building the C/D platform. 2015 Taurus will be on the C/D platform along with the Fusion. The D platform is running numbers that alone can support almost two shifts of production. Police units, Explorer units are both D platforms with no Lincoln badge on them? Maybe? there is discussion the the D platform may be the new home for a down sized Lincoln unit? Yes it seems our cheaper labor is the magnet for more product. Nice Ford didn`t even have to pack up and run south for it, nope just put us against us and.... everyone wins? So yes CAP has a bright future for the company. For the members of labor, I can see the past coming back to be used against us, again. Mexico, CAP and AAI all able to product the same platforms, who will win in the race to keep the product. AAI with their high cost to profit ratio? CAP with the cheapest labor in the system and muti platform ability? Mexico? The company knows. The IUAW knows. As for labor we will be on the receiving end of all the half truths, bull shit and lies. We will see some real fancy talk when it comes to helping the 2nd tier in the next round of talks. Decker 1 of the 1788
  18. Yep, I remember the time when politics was a large part of almost every post. During the last election it was kinda crazy on this board. I guess you might be right. Mods will move this? You refer to being able to hold days if you want. Are you one that bid on a classification that you always wanted but didnt have the seniority to get, until the C crew came to DTP? How`s it work at DTP now that you are a C crew member can you just bump back to the shift you can hold? Or are you stuck on C crew until there is an opening in your classification? It seems the bumping system is pretty much an uncertain topic here at CAP. Some not only hope the bumps will come soon but, there are those on the C crew that are preying that they will be able to bump off your favored C crew. At this point most A & B crew members have not expressed much if any desire to bump to C crew. We do see the traditional reasons for bumping, starting time. When working conditions move to a temporary situation (AWS) a lot of members are wondering how permanent classifications can be awarded. Then if the working conditions requires a reduction of the C crew, the movement back to a traditional agreement, how then would the reduction in force would proceed with these temporary classifications? Her at CAP we have had three weeks of this AWS and all I can say is, really.... we have members not showing up for work in large numbers. (everyday) Members stating their bodies cant take the schedule. And it seems the medical department is on overtime..... One thing here at CAP our Rep`s fought hard to keep the Trades on a 7pm start. (not 6:30pm) Not everyone likes their 3 on 4 off, 4 on 3 off schedule but at least the Trades had some say in their schedule and are getting their midnigfht premium. Then there is the attendance problem in general. We have A & B crew members working 5 and 6 days a week in every department. The C crew has some members that dont like this fact and voice there opinion regularly. Like at Laborer`s Hall all over the country, our members are being told to "just come in" we will most likely work you. Now this may me working out OK for now but, I can see some hurt feeling when the budget is reduced and people show up and dont get to work and management states "I never said to come in"... As for the most important thing every manager is concerned with "The Numbers"... we cant seem to get them. Now some areas or even some departments can play the game and short shift but most often screw the next shift coming in with low first hour numbers.... Well, Damage is this a good enough turn away from politics? Sorry if you didnt want an update from CAP. As for bitchin about the C crew well, I really dont think many peolpe making the 15 dollars an hour are aware that they are the end result of the IUAW and FORD striking a deal to keep "Southern" jobs up north, with southern pay. If you look at what happened it once again shows that we were put against each other. Instead of fighting for a middle class range of wages for all the members, our leaders figured again... we can keep these jobs (dues) from going south and "Help Ford" and at the same time we can sell "ALL" these jobs as a great thing. Now before you take aim and try to blow me off the board, I`m for getting people back to work. I`m for people having the security of middle class wages. The same wages that helped me put three peolpe through school. The wages that gave my family the security of the roof over their heads. Yes the wages that are at the highest level only 8% to 10% of the cost of the products we make. Damage do you think yours and my middle class wages are secure? Do you think a member making $15 will be able to send kids to college? It seems really interesting that the 2 tier wage system was sold as a company saving proposal and the membership was never told that the wages we were agreeing on would save or help the 2nd tier members become middle class wage earners. Have you ever heard the term Supplemental Work Force? This is the category our C crew, 2nd tier members are in according to most state employment agencies. AWS is temporary work schedule that keeps that category in place. Now I have heard the stories that we will have to fight at the next round of contract talks. I agree that the membership will have to fight. For??? Will we see once again the helpping hand of the IUAW? Will we see the temporary 2nd tier members put against the higher wage members? Are we all going to hear the "you should be thankful" speachs? One issue that is for sure the true issue we will be facing in the next go round is our "wages".... it might be disguised as helping the company or more temporary jobs but, it is always going to be the money we get paid. Good too see the General is back. Decker 1 of the 1788
  19. Nice lookin scooter.... 350SD
  20. No Ma`am, or who ever you are...this week. Stood tall... and took it like a laborer. Knowing full well that we, yes you, I and all the other faces in the crowd, that sell labor for a living will be the ones that put all this messed up shit back together and we will make it work again. As organized labor or not. fmccap, what is the differents between a servant and a city, state or federal worker..(there are two main differences)...? I agree that there are contracts that should have never been agreed on but really who is at falt? Just labor? It has been stated and referred to by many scholars and leaders "politic`s is the cancer of democracy". Towards the end of his rain, as dam near a G-D of the UMW`s John Lewis even made reference to not being so close too or to embrace the state so unquestioning.... Thank you from all of us, Harpo. The faces in the crowd should start looking around and pick the leaders in the next races at their locals very carefully. Everything starts from the ground up. "Change" is just a word. Decker 1 of the 1788
  21. Just to make sure I understand, labor should not be organized if the labor is being preformed in service to the members of a city, county, state or federal goverment, is that correct? I agree Fatso, it seems every time the word "labor" is in the news it is in some way a problem or issue that goes against what is portrayed by the news media as good for the companies and/or the economy in general. Then there is the "us and/or them" used by a lot of our members and also some of our leadership. I`m not real sure if the news media is alone with this division. The internal division is being fueled a lot lately with class levels of members when it comes to pay. Any given day we, that is, organized labor are asked to help, give or donate. We march, make phone calls, build houses for the less fortunate, do the lawn care for Veteran homes, serve food at children support centers, clean and make beds at retirement facilities, ride or run to support many causes, support the federal goverment through the National Gaurd and take time off from family and company to travel to a disaster for members of any city, county or state. Most in general, hear very little about these traits the members of orgaized have. Our portrait that is shown by media is for the most part a picture of a soiled group, as one Walker supporter put it, "Unions (not people or members of) are out of control"..... the person never mentioned "Public or Privite". I believe most people have no idea there is any difference. Say "Union" to most in one of the two parties in this country and you will get this "there all the same". Is it safe to say that organized labor is only "not good" for the economy or cause way to many bankurptcies and of course spoiled only on the job? But, members of organized labor are except able citizens when helping, donating and giving freely their labor..... Just don`t refer to these helpful people as "organized labor" on the 6 o`clock news..... Sorry damagedone, I started this post as nothing more than one of Ford`s Organized Labor Members. Politics is as much a part of our union as the union was a part of the founding principles in our democracy. Decker 1 of the 1788
