  3. sorry grim reaper ,but keep trying to push this off this site n hope we forget about it.these our his word on page 2 of this forum Here is what we wait for: 1) The attorneys on both sides are done with examination and cross examination of the witnesses and agree that all evidence has been presented and hearings officially end. 2) Once the hearings are done the union and company attorneys produce the closing arguments (briefs) within 30 days 3) The arbitrator has 30 to 90 days to render a decision So in essence I want to know when all hearings are done (1). Then I know that the attorneys have 30 days for briefs (2). Then I wait for the final and binding decision 30 to 90 days from the arbitrator (3). Those are the updates that matter. Unless the whole issue is a lie and the UAW has been stringing us along about it, hopeing it will go away, and we will shut-up about it. When you think about it...its a real possibility. Its time that our elected and appointed represenatives found out the simple fact that they are NOT the UAW. WE, The Membership are the UAW and its time these bozos figured out this simple fact, and begin working for US!

Grow some balls UAW or there will be no more UAW. We do not need to pay dues if we get nothing out of it. The UAW is on its last leg. Lets get it together. Chicago auto workers denounce UAW-Ford deal By Jerry White 7 October 2011 At the Ford assembly plant in south Chicago, workers expressed disgust with the contract signed by the United Auto Workers. In particular, they denounced the pay freeze for long-time workers—who have not had a raise in eight years—and expansion of the two-tier wage system that is condemning young workers to a life of insecurity and poverty. Workers at Ford Chicago assembly plant The factory, which currently employs 2,700 hourly workers, produces the Lincoln MKS, Ford Taurus and Ford Explorer models on two shifts. With the UAW clearing the way for the hiring of hundreds of more low-wage workers, Ford has announced it will add a third shift and another 1,100 workers. Nationally, the new contract sanctions the addition of 5,750 new “entry-level jobs,” which presently pay between $14 and $15 an hour—half the wages of workers hired before 2007. According to analysts, this will help Ford limit increases in labor costs to a smaller margin than General Motors achieved in its contract with the UAW. Wall Street hailed that deal for providing the slimmest increase in four decades. “It’s slavery. We don’t have any say in the plant,” a young worker named Frederick said. Another 18-year-old worker said, “For the workers here, it’s like a dictatorship. I voted to strike, but the union has done nothing. They’re just going to keep accepting concessions from the company.” Nationwide, Ford employs 2,250 temporary workers and another 100 permanent tier-two workers. These numbers will be greatly increased under the new contract, which UAW President Bob King boasts has convinced Ford to relocate jobs from Mexico and China back to the US. By offering up its members as cheap labor, the UAW is ensuring it will collect millions more in dues income annually and boost the value of the Ford shares controlled by the UAW executives. In 2009, rank-and-file workers overturned the UAW-Ford contract negotiated by King, which would have stripped them of the right to strike and lifted all caps on the percentage of tier-two workers. Responding to the threat that workers would reject the new sellout, King tried to use the threat of mass layoffs to blackmail Ford’s 40,600 workers to support the deal, saying, “In this economic climate, people ought to realize that things are extremely unstable, and to wait would not be smart in terms of our membership.” “There is lots of opposition to this contract,” one worker told the WSWS. “It’s like a cycle, people are being forced to stand up again. People are tired of this. They’re getting to the breaking point.” Workers are livid over the fact that they have lost between $7,000 and $30,000 in wages and benefits over the last five years, while Ford is making record profits and paying its CEO Alan Mulally tens of millions of dollars. Kisha, a worker with 11 years, said, “Nothing came back to us in this contract. We haven’t had a raise in years. That means we have to subtract from our budgets at home and downsize. Ford benefits from this contract, not us. And Bob King and the UAW are going to get more dues money, that’s for sure. It’s a slap in the face. Ford is paying its chairman $4 million a month. God forbid we should earn a decent standard of living on our $25 an hour wage. It’s shameful.” “In the last round of layoffs in 2008 we went down to one shift here. Now they are talking about adding a third shift. That will be a killer for Ford—it’ll be pure profit—because it is going to be manned by temps and workers who can never see the light at the end of the tunnel.”What happens when we stop making the police car does new c-crew get layoff ,no new products yet? Commenting on the situation facing workers in the US and around the world, he said, “We have a two-class system here. In the past, at least they threw you some peanuts and said you were in the ‘middle class.’ Now every worker is being hit. Look how the teachers are getting stuck. They keep talking about how important education is and then they screw the people who are providing it. All the politicians, whether they are Democrats or Republicans, are puppets of the rich.” One 33-year-old auto worker, who didn’t want to be named, said: “All this talk about our getting our holiday pay back, time off, the UAW has done nothing for us. The foremen here get big bonuses, though. I think we could be contracts away from having this plant closed. The work conditions here aren’t great either. We have had plumbing and sewage failures.” Mike, a worker with 17 years, said, “Who can live on $15 an hour and provide a good, quality life for a family? Mulally is making $90 million—that’s more than all the CEOs combined at Toyota, Nissan and the other companies. As for the UAW, they just want to add more dues to the millions they are already getting.” Ford was also given a huge tax break by the city of Chicago to expand production, creating a further loss of revenue for the city, which is already cutting and privatizing services. Announcing the addition of the third shift, Democratic Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s former chief of staff, said, “This is a victory for Ford, a victory for workers and a victory for Chicago.” There is no reason to expand the two-tier wages when the company is making billions,” said Robert, another worker at the plant. “This is happening to the whole country—everybody is taking pay cuts. This is nothing but a sellout by the UAW.” “I’ve got four kids,” said another tier-two worker. “Making $15 or $16 an hour and with more out-of-pocket medical expenses, how can I afford to take them to the doctor? Before I was laid off in 2008, we were making full pay at $24 an hour. When they hired us back, they dropped us to $15. Now they want to get rid of all the higher paying jobs and take away our benefits. “They said they had to give Mulally millions to keep the ‘best talent.’ They said the same thing about the bankers who screwed up the whole country. People fought in the old days for a decent standard of living. Now the UAW is giving it all away.” The Socialist Equality Party is calling on workers to form rank-and-file committees, independently of and in opposition of the UAW, to defeat the contract and develop an industrial and political fight to overturn the two-tier wage system and restore all wage and benefit concessions. We urge workers to download and distribute our statement and contact the SEP.

  12. Let's see a bunch of plants got new work. What about the one's that didn't ? We got 3 raises for people that haven't even been hired yet. That's just brilliant. Now the company is giving bonuses and raises to management.( trust me they are all laughing at us ) I hope everyone that voted yes is proud of themselves. What a bunch selfish, spineless idiots.
  13. yes u do deserve raise salary people, but so do the hourly who gave up so much in 2007 n 2009 ,but why did you open our contract and take are lump sum bonuses away in 2007 and 2009 not give them back like you promise when things got better and they have ,that was a sign agreement and your word is no good ,it was collective (hourly and Salary )effort for Ford to get back on their feet.We having got a raise since 2002 ,and last year we got our first profit check since ,early 1990 .Also Although I was not satisfied with the concessions, or the management getting their concessions back, this is frivolous. (What does the terms of this contract has to do with ,the last contract)f you did not like the terms of the contract you should have voted it down. Ford did not take any more that salary and hourly all agreed to. Also the courts would likely side with the company even if it did have merit because of the damage it would do to the company to pay out large sums to the 20000 salaries in April. Win the suit, get a chunk of money, then strip away their investment capital the hourly have to pay only,so they can't keep their product commitments. Then look for a new job, cause they can't keep you working. I hate that about Ford company, it takes years to settle a suit and they get some easy money, and we have to wait for arbitration to decide rather then doing the right thing. In most industries the employees don't make enough money to save to get a lawyer ,but we can go eeoc or the labor board ,I don't trust our union ,because they are being paid by company and we don't elect our iuaw ,they are appointed by themselves ,just like the pope except they blow smoke up our ass and not like they do in Rome,
  14. I agree it was collective effort(Although I was not satisfied with the concessions, or the management getting their concessions back, this is frivolous. If you did not like the terms of the contract you should have voted it down. Ford did not take any more then you all agreed to. Also the courts would likely side with the company even if it did have merit because of the damage it would do to the company to pay out large sums to the effected. Win the suit, get a chunk of money, then strip away their investment capital so they can't keep their product commitments. Then look for a new job, cause they can't keep you working. I hate that about America, people would rather wait years to settle a suit and get some easy money, rather then working hard, and saving. In most industries the employees don't make enough to save, at Ford that is not the case. There is a political motive behind this filing.)
  15. Ford salaried workers will receive both merit raises and bonuses this spring for the first time since 2008, reflecting the automaker's growing financial strength. Letters went out last week to about 20,000 salaried workers around the world with the good news, spokeswoman Marcey Evans confirmed. The 2.7% base salary increases will take effect April 1, according to the letter obtained by the Free Press. Ford declined to discuss the size of the white-collar bonuses. The amount is based on performance and financial metrics that are still being calculated. Last year, the average Ford salaried worker received a bonus equal to 15.5% of his salary, according to Sean McAlinden, an economist with the Center for Automotive Research. Senior executives, including President and CEO Alan Mulally, Executive Chairman Bill Ford and Mark Fields, president of the Americas, received bonuses greater than their salaries, according to Ford's 2011 proxy statement. Mulally has said Ford's pretax operating profit for 2011 will exceed 2010's $8.3 billion. Last year, Ford salaried workers received bonus checks, but no merit raises. In 2010, they received only merit pay raises. There were no raises in 2009. Ford paid its UAW workers a profit-sharing check that averaged $5,000 in March 2011 for the company's 2010 results. Last year, Ford withheld merit raises because management determined compensation for its white-collar workers was competitive with 23 other companies Ford had benchmarked, including General Motors. The increased compensation is "in line with Ford's commitment to provide competitive base salaries and profitable growth for all," Fields said in the letter. Salaried bonuses are tied to a complicated formula that factors in such metrics as profits, market share, cost and quality. Ford is expected to release its fourth-quarter and full-year financial results later this month. Salaried bonuses are paid under the company's Annual Incentive Compensation plan. The global plan covers about 20,000 employees in the U.S. and Canada, as well as managers in other parts of the world. Ford is also increasing the amount it matches in employees' Savings and Stock Investment Plans, the letter says. In 2010, Mulally received a $9.45 million cash bonus on top of his $1.4 million salary. Bill Ford received a $2.7 million cash bonus to augment his $1.4 million salary, compensating in part for declining a salary from 2005-07. Fields was paid about $1.34 million in salary and given a $3.6-million cash bonus in 2010.
  16. Why do we have a Local if waiting for International to complete "Local 551" contract...,This is backward ,we should being voting for International chairman and president ,why are we paying our local units and chairman ,if IUAW .is calling the shots ,Local means what ????
  17. *** Equality of Sacrifice Arbitration Update From Vice President Jimmy Settles *** As we previously indicated, the arbitrator would attempt to resume the testimony phase sometime last week. However, due to the holidays and the end of year responsibilities of the arbitrator and witnesses from both the union and the company, a reasonable date was not established. Therefore, testimony will not resume until after the first of the year. It is important to note that the delays in scheduling are in no way an indicator of the potential outcome of the grievance. In fact, we believe the grievance carries such weight that the painstaking nature of the process is necessary for proper diligence. I have reiterated to my staff, and accordingly I ask of you, that we all remain patient during the arbitration process. The magnitude of the grievance filed against Ford Motor Company has no historical precedent, meaning every step forward along the way presents a new challenge that deserves our willingness to allow the process to play itself out. I respectfully ask at this time, with the holidays approaching, that we all reflect on the goodness in our lives and the past year, and that we dedicate this time to find harmony with our coworkers, friends and family. May God continue to bless you and your family. Thank you for your understanding, and we will continue to do our very best at keeping the entire membership informed. In Solidarity, Jimmy Settles Vice President and Director UAW National Ford Department

  21. I like to thanks iuaw for closing twin city Dec 19 ,what plant is next ,if we don't follow orders ,we need to able to vote in the iuaw president in by all union local workers and some IUAW of not just IUAW members only and rest of officers like we at each and every local ,every 4 years.Very bitten Ford employee ,since these last too contracts,God is my witness <I hope you turn to God and ask for forgiveness for selling out us and worship money over the right think to do ,when you die you will be judge how you treated poor UAW worker ,who allowing you to have more so you can collect more union dues.AMEN.See you all in hell IUAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. All I have heard from friends and relatives who work at Ford is how little paid they get.,compare to the worker doing the same job on days and day workers twice the paid and a better pension plan then us,we get get 401 k and Ford will match upto 6 percent of amount of money ,you donate to their pension ,different and bad health care and takes longer to get max beneifits. Most don't get very much paid vacation. Wow, thanks again IUAW for another great aspect of keeping us younger workers .,bad moral and bad attitude, because they want the same paid for equal work. as the next worker,Yes I am happy got a job but ,I know I will lose my job as soon as the police and the police order are gone and I will be long off again ,right after the president election is done

  25. Equality of Sacrifice Letter of Understanding from the 2007 Ford-UAW Contract By Paul Kersey | Jan. 29, 2010 November 3, 2007 Mr. Bob King Vice President and Director UAW, National Ford Department 8000 East Jefferson Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48214 Dear Mr. King: Subject: Equality of Sacrifice During 2007 negotiations the parties had numerous discussions pertaining to the principle of "Equality of Sacrifice" and the Company's management principle of "One Company, One Plan". The Union also expressed concern that the salaried workforce contribute equally to those wage and benefit adjustments necessary to achieve growth and job security. The Company is committed to both of these principles and recognized that all employees should share in the contributions necessary during this difficult period. While the company does not negotiate the wages and benefits for non-represented employees, it has assured the Union that sacrifices by the UAW-represented employees are reflected in the pay and benefit practices of all non-represented employees. Very truly yours, BILL DIRKSEN, Executive Director U.S. Labor Affairs Concur: Bob King Source: 2007 UAW-Ford Master Contract, Vol IV, p. 438
