  1. Agree with having first hand knowledge of the gross fuel mileage for a much smaller vehicle. Other than that I would still buy the Ranger versus my current Ecoboost F150 as it is more than what I need. To me the moral thing to do would be to put that 2.0 or 3.5 ecoboost in the Ranger where should be able to produce a nice practical mix of power and fuel economy. This knowing the term moral can expect a bunch of nasty comments by itself.
  2. True but would the market be so small if the vehicle would have been more efficient. As I said I would still have one if it were. I suspect there would be a significant customer base for a vehicle of this size and capacity were it to get something like 20 percent better fuel economy than the F150. I don't think much effort was put towards this. Fords choice I guess.
  3. I often wondered why Ford never put an ecoboost engine in the Ranger. I used to have a Ranger however it didn't make sense as the fuel econonomy was pathetic in particlar for the size of vehicle. Now have the F150 Ecoboost however for the most is overkill relative to required capacity and size for my purposes. If the Ranger had had more power and 20 or 30 percent better fuel economy I would still own one instead of the F150. Still bugs me that they were so pissy on gas for the size of vehicle.

  5. I have an F150 ecoboost. I love it especially the power when I step on it. Pulls a load real well too. One thing that has happened only once but surprised me. I was pulling a loaded up but under the truck capacity cargo trailer and accelerating under fairly heavy throttle to freeway speed. It briefly sputtered for a few seconds where I let off on the throttle somewhat. It then accelerated okay. Only has happened the once and will take in for questioning should it occur again. Possibly the problem as in thread?
  6. Thanks fella however not interested in obtaining patents. Have already blown to much in that respect. Mostly just want to give my thoughts with the understanding that Ford would need to carry the ball. Proprietary wavers can be agreed to prior to idea exchanges. Obviously Ford has some very bright people employed with them as indicated by the products they have been producing lately. However they nor any company completely has it covered. Sometimes it is good to think outside the box which is generally where ideas like what you or I more likely would do than a typical automotive engineer.

  8. Hello, I am a first time user to this forum however have followed periodically for quite sometime. I have driven Fords primarily all my life and am still partial to them. I am unsure whether this is the best forum to ask this question. If advice can be given it would be appreciated. A few years ago I had suggested to Ford (via a company contact address of which I don't recall) about what I thought would be a good option for the F150 due to the height of the box. This was to include a top entry tool box on the fenders. Low and behold and probably only circumstancial Dodge has this option now. I had sent this suggestion via email to Ford with no reply and was somewhat peeved at the time however I get over things fast. My method of conveying at the time was probably not the correct avenue. My question is what is the best means to convey customers ideas to Ford in a private manner via electronic mail? If one is to suggest something that may become proprietary will they work with you on that? I have a considerable weight saving suggestion which may also add structural strength which I would like to convey and also be considered should it come to fruition. I hope to not be considered a wacko as some of my ideas actually have been used in my career. The old saying nothing ventured nothing gained. Never hurts to try.
