  1. I just have a hard time believing they created a car that gets worse mileage then the 2010 model year...
  2. Well the might as well be closed... Air resistance or not the engine bay is no doubt colder with them open.
  3. Hi all, So we all know the Fusion's have not really been getting EPA numbers (see lawsuit, EPA investigation into Ford, Consumer Reports) etc. I know my flaps are open even when the engine is stone cold if I am not moving fast enough. I know the engine is running rich and just guzzle's it back. I know my engine will idle at 1,200 RPM even when the battery is full and my Chevrolet Optra idled at 800. How long does Ford usually take before releasing an ECU update for issues?
  4. Brutal... I get 22-32 MPG on average... Worse than a gasoline only car! The engine always runs above 1000 RPM even when the battery is full...
  5. What the eff... My hybrid averages 32! Yay $3000 = 1 MPG difference? Come on software update... Close the flaps, stop running the engine so rich...
  6. Oh... Well it would kinda make sense to keep it closed during cold starts, considering its only a software change. So has anyone else checked to see if they're spark plugs are already fouled from the ECU providing too rich a mixture resulting in poor fuel economy?
  7. It is true with the 2012 Camry - I took one out from Auto Share (a car sharing service here in Toronto) and had little problem getting excellent milage right off the bat. My 2013 Fusion Hybrid on the other hand struggles as it warms up. An interesting note - The software is not configured properly for the air flaps... I took a look at mine in the driveway and they were half open while the engine was warming up in -5c temperatures. Sure lets let freezing air into a cold engine? Hmmm time for an ECU update!
  8. Well I've never seen the ICE run under 1,100 ish RPM so that doesn't help either... My 2005 Optra would run at 800 RPM all the time. I dunno hopefully there will be an ECU update for all this - I really don't think anyone is seeing 47 MPG without significant effort... In a Prius / Camry Hybrid you can get 50 MPG very very easily without trying so hard.
  9. In the parking lamps... They're the bulbs closest to the center of the car. They're currently white in colour but a very warm white, the new bulbs are a very cool white. When it flashes, it flashes white. My friend had to attend to his brother helping him install two 30" monitors to replace his old 23"'s so I'll try again tomorrow.
  10. Glad you asked... The bulbs for the trunk and license plate dont face outward they face sideways which means most LED's are not well suited. If I want to change them I'll have to either buy more that have light facing sideways or paint the license plate bulb holder silver / chrome / white. I'll be installing the HID kit and parking lamp bulbs tonight at my friends dealership. The ones best for this will be the Supernova SMT bulbs. I will try and post a photo of the completed install sometime tonight
  11. Hmmm maybe for longer drives but for shorter ones it just wasting its gas... I guess people have to look at whole tanks with this car rather than trip MPG numbers which have been pretty bad for me as well.
  12. For me I've been getting pretty mixed results. Depends on the outside temperature, climate control and how long the trip is. For me it feels like the ICE is incredibly inefficient... How could I be getting 12+ L/100KM in slow traffic with the ICE on when a Nissan Altima who's ICE is always on gets 9L/100 KM?
  13. I filled up the other day and it clicked off at about a half way fill. I filled again and on the second click I could hear it was full.
  14. Mine does a similar thing - but its minus 20c outside so this kind of thing is to be expected.
  15. Does anyone want to take a look at their Hybrid and see if it has the same style of filter?
  16. Today in Toronto we got around 25-35cm of snow within a day and a half period. Needless to say the city was in chaos with over 200 car accidents reported. My commute to work in the morning was terrifying as the low rolling resistance tires offered little grip in the piles of snow they were subjected to. The cars low height didn't help things as snow was rubbing on the underside and front end worrying me further about all the components under the car. The high torque electric motor was hard to gauge how fast my tires were spinning as its virtually silent and at one point I could smell a little rubber burning as me and my car struggled to get out of the snow. I would say handing with the 2013 Fusion Hybrid in snow is a smidgen better than any other car out there. Possibly a little worse as it offered little feedback as I slipped on ice and struggled to get into my parking space that the land lord has yet to clear. I gave up and parked on the street after my neighbor was kind enough to lend me a shovel to dig a place for it to be parked.
  17. We got a bunch of snow here in Toronto with more to come. I will take some pictures tomorrow or Saturday and post them!
  18. Me I'm waiting for eBay I get mine tomorrow!!!
  19. I thought this was passed into law for newer vehicles? In Canada we all have DRL's and it has been proven again and again they increase safety and decrease accidents.
  20. Its the tail lights that do it for me... Will eventually buy ones on eBay!
  21. I'll be using Tune in Radio and Groove Shark with mine... 6 GB of monthly data is enough to stream every day and still not run out. Sirius is a mere 16-63Kbps which is also known as terrible.
  22. This should be added to the vehicle locator forum... It worked for me as my latest update did have a car # from Cyberdman.
  23. Hmm you're right - especially in the Hybrid... Its probably going to use regenerative breaking and un-clutch the engine from the electric motor.
  24. Until my Fusion Hybrid comes I'll be driving a Prius. Last night I was able to get about 5.1 L/ 100 KM (55 MPG) with relative ease... From the numbers I've seen online here 55 MPG isn't likely hopefully I can hit at least 45 MPG
