  1. Doesn't chalk up well for Ford reliability: Mike seems to have handled the miles pretty well. What about the car? He reports that the engine has never been cracked open yet uses only about a quart of oil every 8000 miles. The dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) hasn’t been nearly as maintenance-free. Its clutch packs were replaced twice, at 347,000 and 545,000 miles. (Actually, the second time, it proved much quicker and no more expensive to go ahead and replace the entire transmission with a nearly new, $600 unit.) Other repairs included the main computer, fuel pump (it was making noises, Mike didn’t wait for it to fail), throttle-body motor, starter, alternator, coolant-recovery tank, radiator cooling fan, HVAC blower motor, body-control module, and the A/C compressor (“it was getting a little noisy”).
  2. Gah Ford does it again... Poor factory inspection on vehicles prior to delivery. Maybe you should stop wasting time with a 'diversity workforce' and actually hire people that can do the job right.
  3. Hmm? My relay is connected to the left side, so turning on the left signal during the day will turn off both headlights even with the capacitor / warning canceller. I'm pretty sure all the Fusion's do it. I usually just turn my light's to the 2nd setting every time I get in the car and they stay on with turn signaling.
  4. So almost 3 years of owning a Fusion Hybrid (and now Energi) I was completely fed up with HID... 3 different kits, 2 replacement bulbs, 5 same results. They just don't last. I get about 2-3 months out of them and the bulbs go, 35w or 55w didn't seem to make a difference... Maybe I drive a lot, maybe the kits are crap, maybe its Canada's continuously variable weather... It didn't really seem to matter which ballast I used, the expensive digital ones or the lesser analog 35W ones, they all lit the same. The exception is the digial ones would self restart when the bulbs were dying. So paying more for expensive kits you're probably just throwing your money away. I've moved on... To LED. Because of the narrow and near impossible opening in the Fusion's headlight assembly there isn't much you can do in terms of LED's with fan's on the rear... They just won't fit. I found these about 3 months ago and installed them: Absolutely great. They fit in and the light is brighter than the 35W HID, but not as much as the 55W. The only real problem was the rubber cap has to have a hole cut out so the heat spreaders are outside of the housing. I used high temperature silicon to seal the hole so nothing's going to melt in the summer. Hopefully I'll never need to pull open that freaking front end again!!! Another picture so you can see how they are: You can pick em up from Aliexpres.com http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20151222235655&SearchText=R3+LED+H11 I'll never go back to HID... ugh. Edit: FYI: I used my existing relay harness + capacitor / warning canceller. If you have DRL for some reason in both of my Fusion's the left hand bulb will loose power when shifting out of park and into D.
  5. There's a reason people keep buying japense cars... This is probably one of them.
  6. I'd probably pay $1,000 - $2,000 USD for the APIM update if someone were able to program it to my VIN / feature set (fully loaded energi in canada)... I'm sure there will be someone who can do it considering the profit potential with millions of MFT units out there that are probably pin compatible.
  7. Great I missed this one by about 2 weeks on my Energi
  8. Gotta love CVT in the Hybrid / Energi Plug-in Getting into a conventional x speed transmission feels like I'm going back 20 years!
  9. The car was left on an still drove afterward. To be honest not 100% sure if I liked that or not... Damage was to the front left so where the inverter is all that voltage...
  10. Surprisingly 911 assist was on and it did not work. Maybe my intervention of opening the door or calling myself (but that wasn't for 2 mins later). It did honk the horn every minute or so and the blinkers were flashing which was nice. Bought a 2015 energi fully loaded - everything even the block heater on a plugin hybrid car You know I wished for no problems but... They're waiting on a transmission fluid hose
  11. Thanks guessed as much, just hoping there's no additional dimples or protrusions to keep it in place.
  12. Hi, Does anyone know how the rear spoiler is attached? Nuts and bolts I would guess, prefer the look without the spoiler but there is no delete option anymore. Even rear trunks from junk yards are still $800 CAD. New from ford is $650 but that's unpainted. Probably way cheaper to remove it, fill in the holes and paint.
  13. Because they moved to physical buttons...
  14. So any idea what the 2016 cluster looks like with Sony audio? Couldn't find it online at all.
  15. UGH why would they delete tuxedo black metallic? Its not even an option like the white / metallic white + charge. They should have just charged for it or something, flat black looks horrible and probably wears horribly too.
  16. Yikes that's pretty ugly IMO... Ford's never really won with their interiors.
  17. So far looked at: - Q50 Fully Loaded: I don't need a 3.7L engine and the car struggled to get up hills, its just so heavy. - BMW 435i: Wow is the interior in BMW's ugly. Holy crap! Has all the bells and whistles I'm looking for but can't get over how ugly inside they are. - Fusion 2015/2016: Would have to be fully loaded and would probably go Energi this time. Miss the black metalic pain tho not sure about it now. - Mercedes Benz C300: In Canada you can't get the Intelligent Driver Package without moving up to the 6 cylinder 3.0L. I know USA is better than Canada. I have no interest in a larger engine. - Lexus: So ugly on the outside, but nice on the inside. - Acura, good all around but again the same problem to get the Adaptive Cruise -> gotta move up to a 6 cylinder for some reason...
  18. Insurance settled and the payment should be here next week. Sad to see it go and it was a total write off. Still haven't decided on a replacement.
  19. MY2016 Order Bank Open Date 2/2/15 MY2016 Production Startup Date 4/6/15 As per weather or not its going to have Sync3? I doubt it but would love to see it... Will have to wait until they start to hit the lots...
  20. Well I'm hoping so the resale value's going to be complete sh*t now thanks to OTHER drivers. I was going northbound on Avenue Rd in the leftmost land and there is a hotel on the far left side on the otherside of the southbound traffic. Taxi decides to gun it inbween cars going southbound into the nortbound lanes without looking. Doesn't even do the whole poke out thing nope just hits the gas and goes into my lane and it all happened in an instant. Once I saw him brakes did nothing. I doubt its going to be a write off but I can stay hopeful. I know there's going to be tens of issues with it even if they don't write it off and I don't want the hasle and have to pay $$$, time off etc.
  21. Any word when the 2016 might be out? I might need one
  22. Taxi drivers in Toronto think they own the road...
  23. Hi all, Looks like I have the same musty odor problem in my car and it really is a horrible smell. Unfortunetly the weather here in Toronto Canada has gotten quite cold and I can't get the AC or the front defrost to turn on the AC compressor as seen from the Climate screen in My View. To reproduce the horrible smell coming from the car I need to somehow turn on the compressor or the dealer is just going to say "Can't reproduce it not our problem" as usual. My warranty is projected to expire March of 2014 based on milage and not years. What am I to do... Wait until the spring and when it ****REALLY **** smells bad because its been sitting and accumulating all winter and then pay for something that's a known fault? I thought about biting the bullet and buying a Premium Care ESP but apparently the TSB is not covered by it? What the hell am I going to do this car has been such a dissapointment with tons of issues brand new and I can't afford to just sell it and buy something else...
  24. Anyways took it into the shop for a PCM update the other day along with a few TSB's here and there (what else is new). Didn't help me one bit and the consumption is quite poor in the winter and they could really work on the logic / algorithm of it... - The engine races to fill the battery consuming gas all the while and once it gets to 100% its on for heating the cabin... Probably would have made a lot more sense to just let it fill the battery at a less aggressive pace, if the engine is -10C you know you're not going to be turning it off anytime soon because its now at 50C. - Again the engine is on only to heat the cabin and you stomp on the throttle. Its only using 1/3 electric and 2/3rd gas oblivious to the fact its going to get back up to 100% and stop charging in about 30 seconds after the throttle is released. It should have used all the electricity it could instead of the irreplaceable gas. - Its really weird only giving it half the electric response when the cabin isn't fully warmed up (or some other logic they're using). Turning off the climate gives it back up to the 2nd notch of EV... Happened with the first PCM update last year. They're version of warmed up and mine don't seem to line up sometimes I'll make it all the way to work about an hour away and still only have half of ev power. - Not really MPG related but PCM related its been two years now and the transition to ICE from EV is more rough for sure. Its as if it gives up starting the ICE and cuts off the electricity a bit too early. Its a whole jarring experience. - Although this isn't PCM related: The second heating / cooling loop must be crazy inefficient. Although I hate the Prius you can sit for a good 10 minutes before the ICE will come back on even with the fan blowing... Fusion hybrid? ICE comes on after about a minute and a half maybe two at most.
